Where does this money go if Peter doesn't run?
Let's uphold transparency and the honesty that we love and respect about Dr. Paul. I have become extremely wary because of all the beggars that became rife around Dr. Paul's campaign after his extreme popularity became clear. It is to Peter Schiff's benefit if indeed he does run that everything is transparent ... because people will trust enough to donate a LOT. But make everything very clear and transparent from the very beginning, because if it isn't, people are going to be wary and it will hurt his campaign/campaign donations.
So let's start now. Please explain what will happen to this money if Peter doesn't run.

There is probably exuberance and enthusiasm for Peter to take a political role, but just putting my two cents worth in the mix. I just want to pose that strategically, perhaps the best role for Peter is one of a consultant so that his wisdom is not diluted by agendas that could compromise his staying on top of the global conditions. Although there are several years before the next elections and we need to be seriously considering the "PERSON" that we want to best represent our desired future on our planet, we should not jump to selection. Simply, the success of the existing political parties is well thought out and strategized selection of the people they want to represent their objectives and lobbyists. I do not want to play the game, but we need a comprehensive plan to build the kind of vision for the future that the world can embrace.
WE ALL KNOW THAT THE WORLD CAN BE MUCH DIFFERENT AND A MUCH BETTER PLACE THAN WE ARE EXPERIENCING. LETS FIGURE OUT A WAY.

This notion of raising money to help draft Peter Schiff into a Senate run doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Does he have any interest in running, or are people just sufficiently enamored of the idea to cough up some money?
As a freshman senator, would Schiff have any clout? Yes, he is smart and rich, but so are many others in congress. Ron Paul has been in congress for 11 terms and he is still marginalized by his peers. Would Schiff get more, or better, attention? I don't think so.
As we have seen, one well-intentioned congressman or senator can't do much. The corporate-mafia-CFR-government has things locked down pretty tight. Nobody in their right mind trusts them. So, unless Schiff is a member of the CFR and has some backroom deals lined up, I don't think his getting elected will amount to much.
However, his frequent contributions to the public discussion about finance and the irresponsibility of the government, have been darn good. I think he is more effective doing that, without having constituents to answer to. Being a private citizen, he can continue to assail the nuttiness in Washington and Wall Street without getting involved directly; and he gets plenty of air time on the various networks.
Frankly, I think he would be a fool to seek office at this point. 2010 is far off, and who knows what will happen between now and then? I think he should stay put, and keep doing what he is doing.

I think it's great that people are trying different ways to add better people in government. Bearing that the money bomb brought in $20,000 when an election is far off is a good sign. I wasn't able to donate yet, but as soon as the elections draw near and if Mr. Schiff decides to run, I will gladly add to his campaign.

I don't know where you got the idea that I supported thumb-twiddling as an alternative. My essay was about Peter Schiff, and that running for office would be less effective than keeping up his attacks in the media. That was my point.
Now about fighting. In theory, it's admirable. But tell me how you intend to do this. So many talk about fighting, but lack any specifics of what they will do. How will you fight growing unemployment? How will you fight the depression? How will you fight the bailouts? How will you fight Obama's sending 17,000 U.S. military to Afghanistan? How will you fight the tumbling stock market? How will you fight the CFR influence in government? How will you fight what looks like apathy among your fellow citizens, when they have families, jobs, bills to pay, and (probably) some high credit card debt? Do you think fighting for the Republic is on their list of priorities?
You want to hack away at tyranny? This is terrific. What are you going to do, exactly?

I wasn't sure how this money bomb was going to go. At the time of my donation it was only @ $8000 and I was away from my computer the rest of the day/night. However, waking up this morning and seeing the great success of all the patriots out there definitely made this rainy day in CT a lot better!

I dont understand why Schiff would run.
Being a member Congress takes a lot of time and energy than could be used toward making money. Schiff is obviously a businessman pursuing wealth creation. So I just can't see him taking up the offer. I would think he would be miserable and feel stifled in Congress, wishing he was still out there working on becoming filthy rich.

Peter Schiff (and I"ll take the liberty to speak for him in general terms) is perfectly able to pursue both. Don't you think it would be a waste for someone with acute business skills not to use his brilliance in more important matters?

I can't think of anything more important
, and exciting, than making money. From my perspective, the last thing in the world I would want is to be in Congress, dealing with a bunch of bureaucracy and politics instead of focusing my energies on making money. People don't get into his line of business to save the world but to make as much money as humanly possible. I don't think is ready to let politics in the way of his financial dreams. I just don't see it happening. I would have to see a clear signal from him that he would run before I donate money.

we got millionaires in the house and senate, but beside that public service should not be easy, but we got a lot of people in both houses that live easy and have it easy, Peter Schiff if elected said he would probably serve 1 term as he would not promise anything to the people of Connecticut, other then making government leave them the hell alone and cut taxes.
Hard to think that people wouldn't want that, well I want that and wish he could run in Florida, yet I'm stuck with Charlie(Obama $800B bailout #1 fan) Crist, whose thinking of running for senator.
