So Obama just promised everyone all their wildest dreams?Submitted by aVoiceof Reason. on Wed, 02/25/2009 - 01:22
hmm... Sounds like he's basically planning on rebuilding the empire bigger and "stronger" than ever before....
Drudge has his promises highlighted as:
"USA will rebuild and emerge stronger"
"vows to increase number of soldiers"
"says bank bailout may cost more than expected"
"vows to seek cure for cancer 'in our time'"
"promises universal education through college"
"promises universal healthcare"
See, what scares me most about this, is that he's probably not lying, and that people support it.
So basically, we're going to get more empire, more welfare/socialism, a draft (because there's no other way to get more soldiers for the wars he plans to continue and likely start), more money for banks, universal education (so expect it get even worse), and universal health care (again, likely will get worse quality).
Well, normally, I would be scared, but reassured to know that this attempt to make everything bigger on a system already collapsing would just solve the problem for us by failing.... However, with Obama, it would not surprise me to see him resort to force (especially with the draft aka "universal service")....
Hopefully people will wake up at some point along the way... I sort of doubt that too though.... I just don't see people ever being responsible for themselves or not being so greedy as to expect this sort of thing/feel entitled to it/want it, etc.
This nation does have a materialistic mindset... but it goes well beyond material consumption... People just want and expect, and they have no idea how to produce and work honestly to get it. It would be fine if everyone agreed to it, but I for one don't, and I don't want to be subjected to it, and these days, it doesn't seem like the minority has rights (or else all this crap would be optional at least)... So now we get to witness the ugly mob rule side of democracy.
But as someone said in another post, the democrats will fail even more spectacularly than the Republicans, and they'll do it in front of everyone...
