"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

What guns?

"What guns? I lost them at sea several years ago."

IED's seem to be working in Iraq. They'll work here too.

My Shelfari page

You should've seen how the

You should've seen how the Chilean press put a racist spin on the incident of 2 Chileans being killed by a supposedly mentally-ill man in Pensacola.

Here's a link to El Mercurio, Chile's most important newspaper (I found an English version):

I don't have

anything to say or write to or call anymore. It just an't happening. I'm sick of being shot down (pun intended) at every corner trying to speak to these morons every time they try to pull some new law or legislation. It is not working. If we do make any headway they just throw something else at us with different wording or seemingly milder. They will never stop with the gun laws. If they can't take or control the guns they can take all the power so they will never stop trying. I think sooner rather than later we have to realize that all the calling and writing is not accomplishing much if anything. We have to do something a bit more aggressive. Not sure what it is exactly since all of our protest never seem to be large or effective enough. We have to make a lot more noise than we have been. Once they make something law the sheeple will take thier side. They are programmed not to break the law. And law enforcement will go full force along with them too. "It's thier duty to enforce the law" no matter how wrong.

This is a very serious issue.

I often scoff at 'fearmonger' posts, but if we let them take our guns, it's all over. We will at that point be completely at the mercy of the enemy. We already don't have any privacy rights or civil liberties. Taking away the weapons is the last move they must do before Stalinism occurs.

I'm surprised at the arrogance of this administration already. I was one of the people who always thought the gun show crowd was overreacting. Evidently I was wrong. The Obama Administration is willing to risk losing Congress for its gun control schemes.

We'd better take this seriously and do whatever is necessary to stop them.

Don't be silly...

EVERYTHING is fine. There are NO FEMA camps. And they are NOT trying to take away guns. They just want to help the Mexicans. (more than they already have been)
Move along....Nothing to see here.

I was told

this week by an aspca officer that a bear on my private property has more right to life than I do. I'm not kidding. He said they are federally protected & if I were to shoot one, in protection of domestic animals, I could be subject to imprisonment under the federal protection laws of the bear. I asked "what about self defense of myself & property". His reply: "You MAY would be able to beat that in court".

A Hawk eating my chickens as more "rights" than I do

They are protected also.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

*May the only ones to touch your junk, be the ones you want to touch your junk.*

That is crazy.

I told him that was insane

and if the bears, etc. can't read the Private Property/NO Trespassing/Beware signs, that wasn't my fault. Maybe I should have the signs also printed up in Spanish to see if that could deter a possible confrontation.

Best Investments: .50 BMG & Foreign .308 Semi-Autos

My top picks;

1) Barrett Model 82A1 http://www.barrettrifles.com/rifle_82.aspx

2) PTR Model MSG-91 http://www.ptr91.com/

There are many other models available in 50 BMG and .308 that will be banned, but these will be the most desireable.

Investment in a .50, huh...

Resale after a ban, maybe. In a practical sense, no way in hell, unless you have a very good income or a corporate sponsor. Do you know how much it costs to load ammunition for them? Let's break it down to loading, say 100 rounds of decent grade ammunition. I happen to load these for a couple of people.

Approx. $2000-2500 worth of specialized equipment for the BMG
as an upfront cost.

$40-60 per 20 bullets (Avg. out $50) $250.00

It takes 3 lbs. of H50BMG powder to load 100 rds.
3lbs. is about $70.00

1 box of 100 primers is about $40.00

100 New Brass @ about $210.00

Grand Total: About $570.00 to load 100 rds.

Afterwards the brass can be reloaded so cut the brass cost: $360.00
for 100 rds. Then you only have to worry about the availability of components. Still think it's a good investment, or just a really expensive toy?

Yes, Best Investment, No Question.

.50 BMG is stockpiled, all over the country.

You shouldn't practice your shooting skills with the .50 BMG, you should only practice your .50 BMG shooting skills.

Once the .50 semi-autos are banned, nothing will bring them back short of a real revolution. I'm surprised they are not banned entirely already - when the Constitution talks about arms, the .50 BMG is the closest thing to a modern military arm still available to the people.

This is the one politicians are deathly afraid of, as they should be, because that's the point of arms. As such, it's also one of the best to have in the hands of the people.

Obviously though, you can only invest what you can afford.

But this one is definitely one that is going to dramatically increase in value.

I guess I was in the ballpark with 5 bucks a round. Ouch!!!
BTW, we went to Cabellas last night. It was BUSY. I'm guessing it was due in part to this ABC article.
I bought some Berger VLD 185 grain projectiles. I'm now afraid the OAL will be too long for my semi auto magazine. Guess I will HAVE to get that bolt rifle anyway. lol
I have been doing some research along the suggestions in the email. There is a Rem 700 BLD for 589.00 on sale this weekend from Cabellas, I'm thinking either staying in 308 cal or going 30-06.

I would stay .308, and Rem 700 is a great overall choice.

If I had just a single firearm to depend upon in disaster, and cost was a factor, I would have a Remington 700 .308 with a good scope.

It's just not going to increase in value like the 50 BMG or PTR rifles, or strike as much fear in the minds of corrupt politicians.

It can still be very effective though.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

I think I'd prefer an elephant gun.

I mean, are rounds for a .458 Winchester Magnum any higher in price than for a .50?

I'd think the .458 would be a less expensive firearm that's easier to put under glass.

That Barret looks fun to shoot.

Aren't the rounds like 5 bucks a piece?

Best Investments?

You mean for resale after the ban? What do you mean by investment? Why those two calibers? Thanks!

All around investment.

1. Quality, durability, and future market value.

2. Highly popular NATO calibers, which are stockpiled in U.S.

3. Good deterrents against government corruption, and in the worse case scenario, plausible for fighting a revolution due to their long-range effectiveness and rates of fire.

I look at them as more of a family investment or investment in defense of liberty, than a monetary investment, but they will also increase in monetary value dramatically if they are banned.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Dear Mr Holder

Molon Labe!

"Qui audet adipiscitur"

Ok, now I get it

Take the semi-autos away from Americans so they'll be at a huge disadvantage when the Mexicans invade carrying all those South American automatic weapons and grenades.

Hello? Mexico is the only country invading us - certainly not Iraq, and our government is not doing anything about reconquista.

...the machine guns, grenades, and explosives our government taxed us for and gave to central American countries in the name of fighting "drugs," or overthrowing elected governments, while at the same time banning such weapons from the U.S. citizens that were forced to pay for such arms.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Oh well I don't like it one

Oh well I don't like it one bit but I already have my 4 assault weapons next year. I guess I need to write my congressman because assault weapons grow on You and once You get one You want another one. I would recommend if You don't have one You better get one real quick......

Absolute BS. I really hate Barry Soetoro.

Ron Paul is my President.

Ron Paul is my President.

This is so infuriating

I don't own gun, but I am absolutely livid at this. WHY are we banning guns to support MEXICO?!? Why are we tramping on the rights of American citizens for the benefit of Mexico?!!!?

The NAU is already here folks.

I can't say I'm suprised that Congress doesn't care about us, but I'm aghast that they aren't even trying to pretend to have our interests in mind anymore.

The People Must be Disarmed

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States."

--Noah Webster

"The body is but a vessel for the soul,
A puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny.
And lo, the body is not eternal,
For it must feed on the flesh of others,
Lest it return to the dust whence it came.
Therefore the soul deceives and despises."

Funny how the gun-grabbers never mention that.
