Dr. Paul really sounded great and it's amazing a man of his age has such a sharp mind.
If he runs---I will vote for him---Again!

"It is beyond belief that we know so little about how people get rich or poor, about how it is they come to dwell in comfort and health or die in penury and disease. Financial markets are the machines in which much of human welfare is decided; yet we know more about how our car engines work than about how our global financial system functions. We lurch from crisis to crisis. In a networked world, mayhem in one market spreads instantaneously to all others--and we have only the vaguest of notions how this happens, or how to regulate it. So limited is our knowledge that we resort, not to science, but to shamans. We place control of the world's largest economy in the hands of a few elderly men, the central bankers. We do not understand what they do or how, but we have blind faith that they can somehow induce the economic spirits to bring us financial sunshine and rain, and save us from financial frost and pestilence. If there is one message I would wish to survive this book, it is this: Finance must abandon its bad habits, and adopt a scientific method."

I guess the music wasn't heard there, but very appropriate. (I just have to keep the video out of my mind!)
Support Bill 1207. We all must get behind this with our congressmen and senators. We gotta write.
Great crowd. Very, very enthusiastic for him. But the list of candidates for 2012 did not include his name as it should have. I know he says it is too early and he is not thinking about it, but the list should have included him anyway.
is there anyone else around here who feels kinda how i do? I watched both speeches .. I watched Ron Paul's Speech and Mitt Romneys ...
To be honest ... Ron is awesome but he was really ill prepared for the speech and I feel he could have done better ... It sounded like he was repeating and repeating and the crowd was ehh .. they even got footage of some stupid people making silly face
In comparison .. when Mitt started speaking it was well prepared and well quoted with memorable quotes ... the whole room was standing screaming and shaking ..
I don't think the greater enthusiasm for Romney's speech was so much how good it was but just that more Romney supporters went to CPAC than Paul supporters.
Whether Dr. Paul gives a good or bad speech we're going to be enthusiastically cheering him right? Same principle for Romney.

ron paul is a human being, and his supporters took some SERIOUS efforts to individually find out how authentic Ron Paul is......the man's very life is an example.
on the other hand Mitt Romney supporters can't see through Romney's paper thin facade.
Ron Paul lives to educate his supporters and usher in new ones.
Romney's supporters live to get Romney elected.
in other words. Ron lives to serve us. Romney lives to be served.

I voted for Romney last year, but that was before I learned about Ron Paul and what is really going on.
Romney's speech at CPAC was very regular, bland, and predictable. He said nothing of importance or significance -- I've heard Romney's speech before given by a dozen other people.
Obviously Romney has a lot of learning to do also, and he would do good to learn from Ron Paul.
1) Romney defended "democracy" in his speech a couple times too many -- it shouldn't have been mentioned at all. Doesn't he realize that we are a Republic and that a democracy goes against the foundation of this country? It's clear Romney is just a standard politician saying what he thinks sounds good, but he has not really educated himself.
2) Romney was talking about finding global solutions, much like I would expect any CFR member, democrat, or neo-conservative.
3) Romney was war mongering, defending aggression against the middle east, Iran, and Russia, and stiring up emotion by praising the troops and cheerleading, rather than recognizing the real issues. The guy is really in the dark compared to Ron Paul, and it was all very shallow for me now.
4) And lastly, Romney is not aware of, or is in silent defense of the greatest problems facing the nation, such as fiat currency and our overseas empire.
When I didn't know much about him, I liked him. But after listening to Ron Paul for the past year, it's clear to see that Romney is either just as confused as most Americans or working for the wrong interests.
I don't know where you are coming from, rftbunny, to praise Romney's speech as even comparing to Ron Paul's, but I have an idea, when you can praise such boring, inaccurate, misguided cheerleading, over the truth and strength that Ron Paul was speaking with.
Romney's "USA" / "democracy" cheerleading at CPAC 2009:
i don't know why you read that as bashing ron paul .. i am not a romney supporter at all ... i was just referring to the 2 speeches? why can i not examine them both?
ron's speech was coherent and make sense of course .. i would never vote for romney ... im working real hard to push our philosophy within the party ...
what i took from this though wasnt whether we are right or wrong ... but how well we can communicate that message
Energetic and wonderful speech

We know nothing of how economics works.

Most of the people there were Romney supporters
as evidenced by the straw poll there.

well i guess that is also an accurate analysis but romney's speech was much more solid and included various important reagan speech moments ...
and then ontop of it he stole the thing about the dollar which is uniquely our mantra

you're talking about style
you prefer Romney's style or deliver over Ron Paul's.
that would make you common.
it's not something to be ashamed of....just recognize it.
substance over style....once you've developed an ear and an eye for it, you'll find Romney's delivery revolting.
More Than Style, Romney Was Giving a Speech, Paul the Truth.

That's a main problem in America - people are superficial.
We are in the habit of being entertained, rather than focusing on the facts, the truth, and what that really matters.
I would say it's by design, just as Roman emperors were able to do what they liked as long as they kept the people entertained.
I am finding it rather difficult to locate Romney's full CPAC speech online - I'm sure that is by design also.
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
How did you listen to Mitt's speech?
Did you catch it live on tv?
it was on CNN.com
it was on CNN.com
I understand where you are coming from...
Public speaking is not really Dr. Paul's strength--setting an example by his actions is.
actually Dr. Paul's delivery is strong
actually Dr. Paul's deliver is strong.
It's just not fashionable according to mainstream standards.
Gentleman prefer blondes.
I'll take a fiery redhead, or sultry brunette any day.
it's not that ... idk man ..
it's not that ... idk man .. depressing night .. i hope the liberty forum went well
i swear to god though .. during mitt's speech i swear someone yelled Barry Goldwater is a coward!
that pissed me off so much i want to punch someone
one thing i am taking home from tonight ... is vowing to learn to become an eloquent speaker and light my crowds on fire ... i promise
it will help me politically and further our movement
wow that was good
.
Good speech. Hope it takes.
