The Law by Fredrick Bastiat.

I was lucky because my old college prof. recommended this book many years ago. I was so impressed that I ordered 40 copies for $1.00 per book and handed them out to friends, I don't have any left.

My dad a strong Eisenhower Republican supporter was impressed, after reading the book, and I think Ron Paul was influenced by it in his early years.

beesting

Awesome!

Yes, that is how I felt. I decided that every thinking American needs to read this book. I have heard Ron Paul quote Bastiat and mention this book several times. Truly an essential item to any patriot's library.

And soon, you will be able to order a FREE printed copy...

So--why

have we never thought of France as a communist country???

Coming soon...

I have just secured PleaseReadTheRevolution.com

Stay tuned, lots more coming very soon.

Great Website

Thank you for bringing this book to my attention. It looks like something very easy to pass on that might actually get looked at by my friends.

I agree with a commenter about increasing the width of the page to reduce scrolling.

ok... I'll increase the width.

I was trying to keep the width to book, so you don't have such long blocks of horizontal text. I'll increase the width by 150px.

And thanks for sharing with with friends! The idea of this site is to be able to easily pass it around. And the name is very easy to remember and type.

Someone put it on stumbedupon tonight and it got 200 visits in an hour. It is catching on!

Thanks!

I like it

I like the site. It makes it easy to read.

Ever since I read this book about 15 years ago, it makes many things very easy to understand. It's much easier to challenge people's thinking about democracy. I think it's the most important book that an American can read.

Thank you!

You are correct, once read, you now have a solid footing from which you can successfully persuade others.

Please pass it on!

socialism,is legal plunder.

I think it states our case very well.

Evening bump...

I just got a shipment in of printed copies of The Law... soon to be available for order for FREE on the web site. This is going to be big. Stay tuned...

Anybody have any feedback on the site?

Design ideas/changes/etc? I have a lot more content planned, but since many of you have seen it, I was just wondering what you thought.

Thanks!

The only minor thing I can

The only minor thing I can think of is that the content area seems a little narrow, causing you to scroll a little more for the amount of text you read (doesn't help that I'm on a widescreen laptop with a screen that's only 800 pixels tall). Other than that, I think it's great!

Short but powerfull essay

Bastiat was a genius, I have been toying with the idea of starting a chip-in to send a copy of The Law to every legislator, the UK Libertarian Party did something similar recently by sending a copy of Orwell’s 1984 to every Member of Parliament along with a press release to publicise the event.

Also, here is a link to an audio version of "The Law", I burned this to several cd's and distributed them to friends and family.

Maybe you could add the link to your site?

One of the very best foundational essays concerning the

proper origin of law and its relationship to human life, liberty and property.....all of which are bound together. A keystone of liberty.

I couldn't agree more...

I couldn't agree more... could you imagine if tens or hundreds of thousands of citizens were to suddenly see the true light of liberty?

You're welcome! It doesn't

You're welcome! It doesn't matter what political "color" someone thinks they are... all that will matter is what they think AFTER they read this book.

It is rather convenient that Bastiat was French, lived 150+ years ago and lived under a very different form of government. (well, some might argue otherwise)

Please pass this along! All the resources are and will be free. And soon, you'll be able to order a printed copy for free as well! Stay tuned...

My son gave

this book to read some time ago. He loved it. I afraid I forgot it. LOL I guess I'll have to reread it.

Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.

Haha, I thought this was some

website devoted to tax-protesters. But, I see that it's devoted to Freddy B!

I thought it a clever

I thought it a clever title... but in all seriousness, those who argue their positions atop less than solid foundations will surely fall.

Those of us who are truly liberty-minded must be absolutely sure that our foundation is firm.

"Failing to ask the right questions guarantees failure in finding the right answers."

What is liberty? What is law?

Once you can clearly answer these two questions, the rest naturally falls into place.

Hey Acme, did you know that Bastiat

apparently stated that Gustave De Molinari was the continuer of his work? See here.
Good to see that he became more radical as he aged!
