AGAIN!!!

Oh how I have missed the phrase "quixotic bid"!! I mean for awhile I could get my fix by reading any article on the republican field. But it has been oh so long since I have seen a report with such eloquent phrasiology!
Good job, Guardian...

Read the article and the smug comments from many Brits. It

infuriates me how people talk down to others who have differing opinions, especially from a country on the brink of bankruptcy and one that its people have given up all of its rights/freedoms to the state and the EU, and from Europeans who have allowed themselves to be invaded by a hate mongering group called Muslims. Oh but the people that follow Ron Paul and want more individual freedom are stupid and typical of the dumb God loving Americans. I read about 20 comments and it was all that I could take. I know there are a few brits on this page and this is not meant to offend you at all. You guys need a Ron Paul over there badly it seems.

IT IS NOT A WASTED VOTE!

DIGGworthy article

While it gives a lot of time to less-than worthy causes, it lets readers know that the liberty movement in our country is alive and well.

Most of the comments on the article are Anti Ron!

Let's get over there and get some good comments going!

Most brits have a serf mentality

And can't imagine standing on their own too feet. They actually believe that the Crown defends their freedoms.

After what they did to the Irish, Scots, Zulu, Mauri, Aborigines and others, it 's funny how they always talk about how americans stole the land from the Indians.

Interesting, David Weigel is obsessed with the Civil war

Always focusing on the anti Lincoln arguments. For someone who claims to be a libertarin, he seems to find those things that will be controversial amongst the uneducated.

Imagine the audacity of questioning 6th grade history books.

Five or six years ago, I agreed with you.

At the time, I thought LRC and many Libertarian columnists had an 'unhealthy obsession' with the Lincoln Myth.

But I've come to realize it's a very important issue. Lincoln is a sham; he is a true symbol of the tyrant state that cries maudlin crocodile tears over oppressed minorities while simultanously propagating war and enslaving people of all races, colors, and creeds.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

The thin end of the wedge

I think that realizing that Lincoln was a tyrant is an advanced idea in understanding liberty. It requires considerable understanding, given the size of the myth surrounding Lincoln. I suppose some people simply parrot the anti-Lincoln stuff, or are the "South is going to do it again" types. But to really get it is not easy. To understand that the southern leadership was just as tyrannical and backward thinking is important. (note the southern conscription laws. )

While the Lincoln issue is sort of a touchstone of the movement, it is not an issue that will be good for recruiting new CFL members.

The question we will eventually have to ask ourselves is do we want to ease the public into our way of thinking, or to remain ideologically pure anti-statist, and damn the torpedoes - which will mean more political losses and more media ridicule.

See I think Weigel does this purposefully to try to discredit the CFL.

Good for him I say!

If I just knew the standard Lincoln myth I would have been shocked at seeing how he starts off the article!

Good article

The comments are a little annoying. People are so clueless. Too bad.

Ya, I like how it starts off!
