I just got a call from Ron Paul. A woman calls me and says I have a message from Congressman Ron Paul would you like to hear it. Hell yes I do. So I listened to a message from the campaign for liberty. I love this movement and I love Ron Paul. He is my president!

What are we supposed to be giving to do?

This thing's seeming more like slick PR than the good old grassroots spontaneous campaign and giving of yester-year.

Last year I gave a wad of frns. That was back when ole Ron was going to stay the course. Then he dropped out before the convention. I'm sure he had his reasons, but that sent a wake-up call that my glimmer of hope was wishful thinking.

I'm afraid politics is not the answer. Based on my examination of history, the republic and the constitutional contract dissolved in 1861 as a result of the subsidies for empire builders..

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared." - Cicero, 42 B.C.

So what have we learned in 2 millennia?

Evidently, Not much

God bless Ron Paul for trying.

2 Chronicles 7:14
Jeremiah 33:3
Isaiah 33:22

Hope and alternatives

1. As Ron Paul said during the campaign, it doesn't take very much to change the direction of Congress because they always have a finger to the wind.

2. Being discouraged because officials don't live up to our expectations, even when they do get elected is nothing new to me (I've been voting since 1974). I always vote for libertarians, and since they don't promise voters much besides freedom, it's been uphill all the way. But there is something you can work on that does not rely on having officials with principles in the majority, but instead relies on the kind of relentless pressure we've been applying all along: go to DownsizeDC.org and help out with their campaigns. They've decided to be that "wind" in 1., above, and not wait for the day when maybe we somehow get a majority of Dr. Pauls.

Putting faith in men is a mistake in the first place, tempting though it is. Given that reality, isn't it still worth fighting to be able to choose our leaders individually, rather than letting voters choose them for us?

Cheer up maningray.... life is more than one campaign

The mistake many of us made was thinking that one campaign and one man could magically solve a problem that has been building for over 100 years in the US. The Campaign for Liberty is moving FORWARD and isn't concentrating on one man or one campaign. Rather it is setting out to educate the masses. This takes time and effort. Possibly generations. And there are no guarantees.... Life is about each of us doing the best we can. Whether we "win" or "lose" ... it is OUR journey and how we live OUR lives that will count when we meet our Maker.
