At least get a revolver for every adult in your household, some K-Bar knives and bear mace.

“A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement” - Thomas Jefferson

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul

Not to play devil’s advocate…

…but this too can be a double-edged sword. Some food for thought:

Not everyone (in fact probably the majority) of people who bought and/or own firearms, to include the recent influx of purchases, is really looking forward to some grand vision of a second revolution as many here are. Human nature dictates they are planning for survival and availability, plain and simple.

With that in mind, here’s a What-If to ponder- what if suddenly the whole thing goes to hell in a hand cart, and there is a major SHTF and things are very scarce due to ongoing economic depression? It changes the playing field from the grandiose Us vs. Them, to the sense of “I’m out of stuff for me and my family, there hasn't been any supplies for a month, my neighbor still has some, and I’m armed to the teeth. I’m going next door and taking it.” When the bottom of the barrel is dry, people will do what it takes. Guess who all that stockpile is going to be focused at then? Ain't life grand...

So now you have the prospect of fighting on two fronts: keeping one eye open at night to watch for the ‘evil establishment troops’ kicking in your door in the middle of the night, and keeping the other eye open at night looking out for the neighbor who wants your shit.

Anyone still think this is all fun and games? Call me cynical, but I don’t have faith in my fellow man, and all this tells me is that if push does come to shove, I’m not only going to have to worry about the ‘evil establishment kicking in my door at 3am,’ but also the idiot next door desperate and dumb enough to try and relieve me of my supplies, and this time, they are going to be equally armed. That’s an awful lot of lost sleep at night in that scenario. Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll lay low and take my chances alone.

You need to spend some time getting to know your neighbors

Call me cynical, but I don’t have faith in my fellow man

Well maybe it's time to find some dammit.

The American people are overwhelmingly good. If you don't "get that", then you're a part of the problem.

Before it gets that bad Washington will be overthrown.

Those little dictators can only sit up their stealing money and cheering the Queen for so long...

Before people will starve and rob each other, they will refuse to pay taxes.

The numbers are encouraging:

"Despite a weak economy and slumping retail sales, firearm sales continued to increase in January, continuing an upswing that began after November's election.

Data from the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) show background checks on the sale of firearms jumped 28.8 percent in January when compared to January 2008. The increase follows a 24 percent rise in December and a 42 percent jump in November, when a record 1,529,635 background checks were performed."

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

This is not surprising to me:

I personally know quite a few people that have been "stocking up" for a long while and have recently gone crazy getting more. I spent this past weekend with some friends reloading thousands of rounds. I had a pretty decent collection and have more then doubled it in the past year. Just don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Spread them out a little.

During the last two years, who bought these arms?

Feds have a record of number of gun and bullet sales.
How large were the multiple purchases?
These numbers in the vedio are amazing and I would assume to be that large, these guns were purchased widely, and not perhaps by some group purchasing them to take them off the market, and unavailable to the public at large.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
