I'm buying organic, and if I can't buy it I'm growing it. This is take no prisoners time in our right to food. The criminals in government can't take away our rights to our garden.

Well, I think that First Lady Michelle Obama should help everyone to understand how easy it is to eat right with organic foods. One of her goals is to promote healthy eating for American families. With more people seeking organic real food, I just wish that the price for organic food will come down and the price of junk processed food will go up. That would be the perfect fix for helping families eat right and more savings would be passed on in reduced health care needs. Also, keeping your food storage clean and neat is also a way to keep you and your family healthy.

What Michelle is doing is VERY MISLEADING! This bill will control ALL food raised, even in your own, private garden. It will control the food you can for your own use. This bill is ALL about food control, and about controlling all sources of meat as well.
This bill will cause world hunger because they will decide who lives and who dies, by controlling all food.
It's not about prices - it's the 9/11 of health and food freedom.

A great concern to many of us right now is the right to EAT PURE NATURAL FOOD . . . in contrast to the genetically engineered, refined, prepared, and processed foods that make up most of the supermarket food items.
Because profit is low on PURE NATURAL WHOLE FOODS, the food industry has turned to value-added (convenience, taste, excitement) processed foods to create a profit-making business.
Now they seem to be very aggressively trying to cement their spot on your dinner plate. HR 875 - creation of a Food Safety Administration to Control Food from Growth to Table appears to be a dangerous restriction of commerce in that it can eliminate local control of food and farming practices. Do you want the same people that offer you foodlike items that entice you into bad disease-producing eating habits and away from healthy whole foods. to control the people who can offer your the real thing in food.

Michelle Obama's simple move to plant an organic garden
on the White House grounds sends a powerful message to all Americans. If conventional grown produce isn't good enough for President's family should any Americans be eating it?
I think First Lady Michelle Obama will help everyone understand how easy it really is to eat right, starting with organic foods. One of her goals is to promote healthy eating for American families.
With more people seeking organic real food, my hope is that the price for organic food will come down and the price of junk processed food will go up! That would be the perfect fix for helping families eat right and more savings would be passed on in reduced health care needs.
Michelle says her whole family will be getting involved, and even President Barack Obama will help with weeding.
Mrs. Obama hopes that inspiring children will help spread the healthy eating message to others.
"My hope is that through children, they will begin to educate their families and that will, in turn, begin to educate our communities," she said in an interview in her East Wing office.
I know this worked for my son. Last year I started researching real food, the organic produce, grass-fed beef, pastured eggs and chicken and healthy oils. My son became interested in the books I read, videos I watched and talking with local farmers. He wanted to know why grass-fed beef was better for us than feedlot beef. He was disgusted by the way animals are mistreated in feedlots and the way our produce is sprayed with chemicals.
My young son is spreading the word about organic food, raising animals for food humanely and why toxins are bad for our health. He tells his friends and other family members what we eat now and why. I'm proud of my 10-year-old son making a difference - Children are the future so we must teach them about real food and make organic real food easily available.
Organic produce the Obamas will grow
Among the 55 varieties of vegetables the Obamas are planning to cultivate are spinach, chard, collards and black kale.
The more exotic plants in the new garden will be arugula, cilantro, tomatilloes, hot peppers and anise hyssop herbs.
Several varieties of lettuces including red romaine, green oak leaf, butterhead, red leaf and galactic will be planted.

Why doesn't Michelle use her influence more directly, by, say, arguing with her husband about his appointment of Vilsack as the head of the USDA, and his payback favors to Monsanto in general, which do NOTHING to help the organic food movement?
This garden is just propaganda, in my view. A token of sympathy with Obama's informed fans, while he stabs them in the back by getting in bed with Monsanto.

This bill is about tracing the distribution of food so that contaminated food can be found & destroyed. This has absolutely nothing to do with home gardening or poor people growing their own food.
It does require standardized labeling for all food sold commercially. Is that horrible?

I read the bill - it has to do with slaughterhouses and meat products. It has nothing to do with growing organic vegetables. Unless you live in a slaughterhouse, this bill doesn't affect your killing your own meat. If you sell that meat at the local farmers' market, then, sure, you're subject to inspection.
The things that are looked for include not using diseased animals or contaminated feed (mad cow disease, anyone?).
This does include foreign food facilities.
While there are lots of laws, this bill consolidates the responsibility into one department.

After more research, I found at "organicconsumers.org" information that refers to this alarming information as an internet myth. Although, they do believe that these bills very well could be damaging to organic farms and that organic farms should be exempt. If you google "democracy in action food safety HR 875", there is a link to CODEX action alert that will take you to a page with a petition asking for organic farms to be exempt or to defeat the current bills.
So I'm not sure whether the bills are sponsored by Monsanto, but at lest the devil isn't quite at the door...yet.

That is actually not at all what they said there, They said that while it was possibly well intentioned, it is dangerous and alarming - the exact text of their statement is:
"HR 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, is a limited-vision attempt by moderate Democrats and Republicans to craft food safety legislation to address the out-of-control filth and contamination that are inherent in our industrialized, now globalized, "profit-at-any-cost" food system. This being said, OCA does not support HR 875 in its present form, given the fact that, if the bill's regulations were applied in a one-size-fits-all manner to certified organic and farm-to-consumer operations, it could have a devastating impact on small farmers, especially raw milk producers who are already unfairly targeted by state food-safety regulators. Although the OCA deems this bill somewhat well-intentioned, we are calling on Congress to focus its attention on the real threats to food safety: globalized food sourcing from nations such as China where food safety is a travesty and domestic industrial-scale and factory farms whose collateral damage includes pesticide and antibiotic-tainted food, mad cow disease, E.coli contamination and salmonella poisoning. And, of course, Congress and the Obama Administration need to support a massive transition to organic farming practices."

It didn't appear to me that they were saying the information was an internet myth, but that they did not agree with it as it is, and believed that the 400 organizations like themselves have input. So I think a myth would be that there is no debate on the bill as far as they are concerned. It appears the Monsanto connection is incestuous, as Bectel is with Feinstein (nee Sacks as in Goldman)

Here in California no one will put up a fuss or a fight. After all we have more illegal aliens than can be counted and or hospitals are closing because they can not afford to give the state mandated free health care to the hoards of illegal Mexicans. Yet we turn a blind eye to the real issue.

Where is The Reference to Organic Farming in Proposed Bill?
I dloaded this bill and looked it over briefly. Can someone point out the organic farming portion of the bill as alleged in the video?
Everybody is hoping....
that this will not blow up into a physical war; that this will remain a war of ideas.
I myself am hoping and praying that this doesn't go south. Mind you, I know that is the way the American Revolution started out, but I'm still hoping things can be worked out peaceably.
This is getting scary, though. (An understatement, actually.)
Especially because things like this fall almost under the "too bad to be true" category; I almost didn't believe it myself, until I read the bill. We need to get the word out, and get people writing. Maybe we can stop this before we are forced to treat a pot of tomatoes or a plum tree as if it was a cannabis plant.
