Seemed Highly edited for my tastes, However a great interview all-in-all.
Loved DL's confession about Dr. Paul's stance on the Civil War. Re-airing Sunday 11PM

Foreign Policy for Reagan Republicans? No problem!
Foreign Policy = National Defense: 9/11 happened because (regardless of why) a few Muslims hated and attacked America. Because of every action we have taken since that day, our national defense and safety has crumbled:
- our borders are undefended
- our military is overstretched
- our budget is collapsing
- our freedoms are almost gone
- our allies are far FEWER because of what we've done
- our enemies are far MORE numerous because of what we've done
+ ALL of this would be solved by bringing ALL of our soldiers back to defend our country.
"Too human to be a Republican"
You can tell Hughley is under the misguided impression that the Democrats are the "humanistic" party while the Republicans are.... what?
The Democrats are not one tiny bit better, it's just that they talk "as if" they were more human. Same conspiracies, same wars, same blatant disregard for the constitution, same murderous tendencies, same goal of achieving and maintaining a world empire.
I don't know why he just couldn't say, "Ron, you are the most human of ANY politician I have ever known."
"It's just one big club... and WE ain't in it!"
"Tyrants fear nothing more than insubordination"
"It's just one big club... and WE ain't in it!"
Ron's point about the Civil War
was further validated last year after he famously discsussed it on the Bill Maher show.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23434604/
This MSNBC article, entitled "University shares its Lincoln letters online", revealed that: "Barely a year into the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln suggested buying slaves for $400 apiece under a "gradual emancipation" plan that would bring peace at less cost than several months of hostilities."
Which reminds me: Bill Maher is a fraud. He idiotically and disingenuously ridiculed Ron for his view on this issue when Ron was on his show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo6KIusCBoU
Before long, Maher says, "See, I've always thought I was a libertarian, but I'm Chairman Mao compared to you. I mean, YOU THINK WE SHOULD GET RID OF THE C.I.A.!"
To me, his tone clearly says "...WHICH IS MORONIC!"
Then Ron explains his point of view calmly and rationally, namely that he disapproves of the CIA covertly killing people and overthrowing other governments. Maher cuts him off:
"BUT WE'RE UNDER ATTACK BY CRAZY MUSLIM FANATICS. DON'T YOU THINK EVEN IF THEY'RE DOIN A BAD JOB IT'S BETTER THAN NO JOB AT ALL? I would feel pretty naked without the CIA."
Then Ron tries to further explain his point of view, and is cut off again by Maher:
"But... but congressman. You are pretty far out there as far as the libertarian thing. I mean, I've read that you said that YOU DON'T THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE FOUGHT THE CIVIL WAR!"
Can you not also hear him say "...... WHICH IS MORONIC"? I can.
Then Ron thoroughly explains his rationale for having his point of view, to which Maher simply responds, in a condescending tone:
"Alright..... not for the Civil War..........."
Again, I think this clearly comes off as "Alright.... clearly you're not going to drop your moronic position that we could have avoided the Civil War........."
No counter argument, just patronizing bullshit.
Ron Paul is right on the
Ron Paul is right on the money with suspending the income tax.
But if Hughley truly understood how that would actually work, I imagine he would be very opposed to it. I don't think he understands that 30-40% of people don't pay income tax, and most of the benefit would go to the "rich". GW Bush lowered the top rate from 39% to 35%, and that was considered to be a "giveaway" to the "rich".
These liberals in the media love Ron Paul not because of his ideas, but because he is an outspoken critic of Republicans.
The people that need to be convinced are Conservative Republicans. Many of them are very receptive to Ron Paul's message because it makes sense to them intuitively. Indoctrinated, big government liberals will never get it.
conservative shmervative
Claiming that people on the "left' will not get it is untrue. Many of Ron Paul's supporters were former Democrats, "liberal," or, at least, not Republican. Unfortunately, the Republican party is entrenched with the worst big-spenders of them all, the neoconservatives. My hope is that they eventually find a refuge in the Democratic party, their true philosophical home. In order for Ron Paul's message to gain credibility, there has to be more of these uh-huh! moments within the general electorate.
Could be happening - what, with Glenn Beck calling himself a libertarian, and DL Hughley calling Ron Paul "human."
Paultards should defiinitely strengthen their base, so to speak, but in order for us effect change we have to get our heads out of our butts and spread the message.
#$#We need to build political strength and political will^*&&
We need to build political strength and political will.
I just think the Reagan
I just think the Reagan Republicans, not neo-cons (and there is a big difference), are the easiest converts. And last time I checked, Ron Paul is trying to win the Republican nomination.
On economics, it is a no-brainer. Free-markets, end the welfare state, limited government.
Foreign policy is more of an issue, but all that has to be said is the following, (as stated by the recent convert Glenn Beck): "If you come after us, we will pound you into rubble. Otherwise, we're minding our own business".
If that is the message, the floodgates will open.
You have got to identify the target market and frame (not change!) the message accordingly.
good point
i haven't really thought about that
Amazing
Ron Paul was always the only person in Congress who understood what was going on. And now he's starting to get funny! Imagine if this was happening when he was in his 50s. He might really have a shot in 20012. Or at least he could wake up a large part of the populace. Who will fill his shoes?

Holy Goosebumps Batman!
Say 2012?
Wow. Ron Paul is just getting warmed up.
Thanks be to God for Ron Paul.

New ground was broken here...
Dr. Paul is gaining traction and if he stays healthy, look out in 2012.
I can't believe the press he is getting. It's really wonderful (though a little late) and the Campaign for Liberty is gathering steam!
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

reply
Something dramatic is happening with these cable news program interviews and this one on DL's show was amazing! Dr. Paul is the face and voice of the Republican Party ... and guess what he now knows it! 2012? I say that was a yes.
Thank you DL Hughley
for being open-minded and letting Dr. Paul say his piece. I wish he had more time to explain what's really going on with the economy but he did nail Obama on foreign policy and it seems that DL and the audience responded quite favorably to that. Ron Paul seemed more comfortable in the interview than past ones and threw in a few good jokes! Overall, this was one of his better interviews, especially compared to his last one with Bill Maher. Thanks again DL Hughley!
wow
that was awesome! i laughed my ass off at the end when he said i might be running away from something in 2012. he can be funny when he wants to be and the cool thing about it is you never see it coming and then wham.lol
Republican
I wish Ron Paul would have explained the difference between what Hughley percieved as republican values and what traditional conservatism actually is. People now associate conservatism with the GWB administration's policies when in actuality they have little in common. The Good Doctor needs to hammer that point home so that people will realize what true conservatism stands for.
He did say
Rush does not represent me and explained why.
today conservatism..
seems to mean neo-con or neo-facist

now that everybody is
now that everybody is starting to see how he was right on the money with everything, they're actually starting to listen.
who knows, maybe '12 is his year?
well damn!
i absolutely LOVE this video...i've watched it at least 5 times...it's obvious that DL likes and respects ron.
and the end is the best "...i'm gonna be running from somebody or running for congress. WHAT A HOOT!
a great applause at the beginning and a great laugh at the end!
i think it was the best yet!

This was one of the best
This was one of the best interviews with Ron I think and I have looked at all of them since mid 2007 ;). Amazing. What is Mr. Hughley´s e-mail?
~~
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for the rest of his life.
Teach a man to phish and he'll clean out your bank account.

I agree
Ron appeared to be more relaxed and was allowed time to get his point across.
This is the best interview ever.
Maybe, it's because it wasn't conducted by a trained talking head, but someone who appears to have done his homework on Ron Paul and actually understood what Dr. Paul is all about.
Now Hughley just needs a bit more education because he appears to be still hung up on the Dem vs Rep thing when it should be all about the Constitution vs the Dem/Rep thing.
WOW ! That was a Pragmatic interview man ;)
I appreciate the interview. Many msm shows are having Ron Paul on but for what reason ? The editing of this video raises some eyebrows. Let's face it the msm is cashing in on Ron Paul and the followers and viewers he brings with him. It's about the money and distractions.
Rush Limbaugh ? What a joke ! If he is considered a primary leader of the GOP then McCain would be considered his secretary of state if he were president. That is how much since all this Limbaugh buzz is.
Stay focused on the real issues at hand. We can not let up on pursuing freedom.
I and many others are concentrating on local politics which inevitably has a impact on state and federal levels. Be smart ! Forget about bragging and flaunting. Stay focused.
Thanks Congressman Paul for your service to this country and to freedom.
I Loved the reaction...
at the end "Wow...Wow". We need more people saying, (and) thinking that when they hear the good DR.
Awesome.

I love Digg's new algorithm
Ever since they changed it last month, Ron Paul articles been making the front page more frequently and easier
Before it was always buried down by onetimer, noliberterian, and their crony friends so it was always stuck in the upcoming section

Where is the love?
Super fantastic
but, where has Hughley been??? He acts as if he is JUST NOW understanding Ron Paul. Oh, well, I guess there are lots of people out there who still need to listen with both ears. It just surprises me with all the talking we have done, it amazes me that a man in his position gets such a kick out of finally hearing Ron Paul's positions. Why couldn't they hear them during the election. OK, I know that answer.
Fab, loved it. Too bad more
Fab, loved it. Too bad more people couldn't have heard this message a year ago, things might be different today.
