The Nightmare Unfolds

This was one of the most news filled and busiest weeks I have ever had. Bailouts, lies and deception ruled the week. The events unfolding could hardly be imagined by most even a month ago, let alone years ago. We are breaking down below levels said to be untouchable, but I think we have more to go on the downside.

Protecting wealth must be number one on this years list, followed by an attempt to actually grow your wealth. It’s not an easy task but I think the precious metals and their stocks will be the right path to take.

The Dow plunged 6.17%, the S&P slid 7.03% while the Nasdaq dropped 6.10%. In resource rich Canada the TSX also had a harsh week falling 6.54% and the Venture exchange held up well only dropping 3.78%. The Venture exchange is where fortunes will be made and investors were seen taking advantage of the low levels and increasing panic in markets to get into some fantastic stocks.

Let’s begin by taking a step back and look at the twenty year monthly S&P chart. Breaking down below the 300 day moving average is huge, and ominous. A massive double top was formed over last decade and has broken down. A target of 500 is what I am looking at and would bring valuations to where I believe we could find attractive if earnings can hold up. I don’t know if we will continue to crash now or rally back up to test the 300 day MA but 500 will be seen eventually.

One in five US mortgages now have negative equity. This as the unemployment rate surged to 8.1%. One in eight are also late paying or are in foreclosure. No comment needed.

Now 10% of Americans are relying on food stamps, 31.8 million to be more precise. An increase of 700,000 people in one month. The program is expected to cost $51 billion this year. The average household will receive only $255 a month.

In Berlin locals are reeking havoc and setting fire to luxury cars as a means of protest. You can track their activities on this handy map. Protest are widespread and it’s only a matter of time until they hit our regions. Although I did find an interesting statistic recently. The US is one of the few countries who chlorinate their water in the world and two litres of tap water is equivalent to a dose of Prozac. Maybe there won’t be any revolt after all!

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

Did you see "The International Forecaster?"

Bob Chapman was on a tear the other day. Full on, calling out the Illuminati, called it the "CRIMEX" every time, and urged readers to STOP getting suckered into paper metals... "GET A GRIP, PEOPLE" was the exact quote, I believe...

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

I did not see it

Thanks for letting me know...going to search online for this.
Just back from feeding birds in nice picturesque places...and having a nice cold beer by the comp gives me a lot of energy to scan the web for good stuff.

Thank you for a bump*)

Know here you are in history.

Go back 100 years as an arbitrary starting point. There were and are economic cycles at work, but the long term trend was economic expansion. The economic advances were strong and the cyclical contractions were mostly weak. Even the debacle of the 1930's was followed by recovery and an advance to new higher levels of economic output.

The fundamental factor behind this long term economic expansion was energy that fueled our industrial economy from which the necessities of life come. Energy replaced human and animal effort. This really has been going on since the beginning of the US in 1776 when coal was then a relatively new source of energy. The expansion really took off after the depression of the 1930's as oil was heavily exploited.

Something has changed with the current economic cycle. This is the first economic downturn where the underlying long term trend is no longer up. So instead of having the support of the long term uptrend to pull us out of the shorter term downturn, we have the long term contraction pulling us down in addition. It is like taking a step and finding that the ground is not there to catch you.

This first cyclical downturn against a long term down trend will be severe; more severe than the depression of the 1930's. Any recovery will not take us back up to new higher levels of economic output, but will just be a temporary pause in the massive long term decline we face. We are now going down the a long staircase, not up. When oil executives say the era of cheap energy is over, this is what it really means. A large amount of energy must be expended to acquire oil. What is left after spending that energy is what is available to fuel the economy. That energy cost has been doubling every 20 years, but the amount of energy in the barrel of oil acquired stays the same, or may even go down because of poorer quality. This has nothing to do with how much oil can be pumped which is a separate problem and which is also on the verge of permanent decline. And oil is the precursor to acquiring most other forms of energy also. There is no adequate substitute and insufficient energy to create any new infrastructure even if there were a partial substitute.

So government will tell you that the recovery is just around the corner. In 2009 they will predict that it will all be over by 2010. In 2010 they will tell you it will all be over in 2011. Recovery will always be just around the corner. So how low can we go before we get a chance to catch our breath? Nobody can calculate that for sure, but it will be worse than the 1930's in terms of unemployment, bankruptcies, and losses and it will be longer than the 1930's. We are just at the beginning.

Government is taking from us and squandering what little wealth we have left. They are giving it to special interests like Wall Street, car companies, and the banking industry. They are planning to spend it on things like roads and bridges at a time when we face a future without energy to fuel cars and trucks. Obama even spent some of it on White House dinners with $500 a bottle wine and $100 a pound imported steaks.

Not only do these clowns lack understanding of what is happening, but they are aristocratic plunderers as well. The probability of civil war in response is high. When Obama was elected gun and ammunition sales went up out of fear of another government attack on the 2nd amendment right; buy you assault weapon before they are banned and buy ammo before they put a huge tax on it. But then people kept buying out of fear of riots and increased crime from increasing economic problems. If the buying keeps up, you can bet it will be because of something beyond these two motivating factors, perhaps a perception that the true purpose of the 2nd amendment must be acted upon.

Give up your linear thinking and recognize the dynamics of the new era we have entered.

"The deepest sin against the human mind is to believe things without evidence." Thomas H. Huxley

A battle over small family farms vs plantation racism.

"Aristocratic plunderers" will not have the police or military support they may percieve. It is a world wide consciousness movement to create a permacultural society versus an intensive industrial use of land.

The mandates out of the UN are medievally draconian, and insure the poisoning of all living things and creatures.
They base their dollars on beef, corn, oil and pharma.
They all are toxic and poisonous.
The UN and the NWO are plantation racist and want to marginalize small family farms. (this takes military control, oppression and fear)

When did you ever here any of these aristocrates say:
"No more use of pesticides!"
"Respect all living things and creatures!"
"No more war!"
"No more war on drugs!"
But you will hear the small familly farmer say these things.

The world is conspiring to help us out.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

patriots I am humbled by your great comments

I mean every day I learn so much on DP and to obtain such knowledge of history economics and the roots of the present problems we face as humanity being part of this discusion makes me truly blessed.

Dude. Two liters of tap

Dude. Two liters of tap water is empathetically NOT the equivalent of a dose of Prozac.

Besides, chlorinating tap water is, or has been, done by pretty much every municipal water service for a long time. It's a good thing, as chlorine kills bacteria and many/most viruses. Without some form of antimicrobial in long water pipes, any breach (like the smallest crack or tree root breach) that allows nutrition into the water would have organic growth inside the plumbing. That's nasty. And dangerous to users.

Ideally, those consuming the chlorinated water would filter it before drinking it. But as many don't, water services limit the amount they put in, to try to reduce the side effects of ingesting chlorine. How far they dare go in this direction depends on many factors. In hotter climates, where water is hotter, more is needed to curtail/prevent growth. Better filtering and control at the source (=more expensive) allows for less chlorine use as well. And in America, I bet you the absolute fear of being sued, causes water departments to err on the high side more often than in less litigation prone societies.

But please. Chlorinated water is not a mind control device. Anyone claiming it is is either selling something or simply lost.

Chlorinated water is far more deceptive than you think

There are less harmful alternative water treatments available....

In case your interested in a great shower filter...here is what I am using

I did not write that article

but I lived in several European countries and none of them chlorinated their water supply...anyways I am happy with my water here in Canada.

You got the wrong chemical stuki.

Flouride was the answer we were looking for. Flouride.

I wouldn't put much faith in

I wouldn't put much faith in the 20 year S&P stock chart, as we are entering UNCHARTED waters.
