I was blind to the truth as most Americans still are until I found Ron Paul. I have no doubt in my mind that Ron Paul will go down in history as the "Great Teacher and Great Mentor for Freedom"
how our home State Reps vote on it. At least our good Dr. Paul introduces legislation that would help "identify" where money goes. That's a good first step in identifying problem areas. As long as these clowns in office wear their rose colored glasses and claim ignorance about spending bills, there is no hope. There will be no accountability, ever. Let's follow H.R. 1207 and see where it ends up. Maybe some lawmakers will wake up and listen to Ron Paul. (but I doubt it)

I appeared before the House Ways and Means Committee and told the 3 Congressmen there that "policy must be separated from revenue raising" in the tax code. The answer from a Congressman: "That will never happen." Well, this is the same thing. Laws should never be packages. All votes should be on one law at a time.
The Cavuto interview was great. Cavuto looked like a deer looking into headlights. He is simply has no comprehension of what is being discussed. RP has to bring the intellectual argument so low with these talking heads, that it must be so frustrating for him. I am sure many of us would of lost it long before, while speaking with such poor souls.
Simply, Cavuto is incompetent in these matters and should be transferred to entertainment news or something along those lines.
I do not know what the misunderstanding is all about. I am baffled along with RP. :)
As RP says," just open the Constitution and read it."
I spoke with my elderly parents in AZ shortly after this interview. Mom said she was delighted to see Dr. Paul on TV, but had no clue what he was talking about! Alas, that's probably more the norm than we know. Most Americans are not political junkies, like us.
"earmarks" and bringing it into correct perspective. Once again the good doctor cuts through all the b.s. so we can see what's really going on, and what we should be concentrating on - HR 1207! - invaluable!!
I think what the critics are saying is that IF you put in earmarks and know the bill will pass, you are essentially voting FOR the bill, whatever it is.
In this case, it's the BIGGEST banking bailout heist of the century.
You make a logical point that IF the budget or A bill is a good one, then, it would be the responsibility for the representatives to put in their respective earmarks, but I THOUGHT that was reserved for individual bills, you know?
It's the difference between handing someone a million dollars and saying "Fix the problem" and handing someone a million dollars and saying "Here's a list of projects we want done with this money... $100K for project 'A', $150K for project 'B'...."
As RP said, if the money is not specifically dedicated to a particular project, then the executive branch gets to do what it pleases with it.
So, in those terms and under those circumstances, he says ALL money should be earmarked...just to keep it out of the hands of the executive branch.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
I think that's what ALL Americans are actually shocked by. They had NO IDEA that Congressmen were adding so much crap to each and every bill....until the Banking Bailout Bill came to the forefront of the Media. We've had no idea what these clowns were doing till now.
As taxpayers, we want these bills to be TO THE POINT, no deals, no behind the backroom deals, no added crap.....ever!
In the Russert interview, he said & I quote, "I've never voted for an earmark in my life!"
Today, he says we need to earmark, so isn't he being contradictory??
Maybe, he meant that he never voted for a spending bill in his life?? I don't think Dr. Paul was clear enough on this, because even I'm a little confused.
Also, the problem with the pork is that it INFLATED THE BANKING BAILOUT BILL by billions of dollars, that is, Tarp 1 & Tarp 2.

1st remember the Russert interview was a hack job to get RP off subject. (of foreign policy, federal reserve, balanced budgets, etc.....I think Russert even wasted time on the civil war......more i think about it the more disdain i have for russert....RIP anyway.
2nd - RP never voted for an earmark. He requested earmarks for his constituents,
because they asked for it. Because the buget bills were so large and unbalanced, RP never voted for an unbalanced budget. IF some day there is a balanced budget, RP might vote for it, including the earmarks tacked to it.
3rd - the main point RP is trying to educate everyone on is government transparency. Every dollar in the budget should be earmarked. Over time more people will understand earmarks, thanks to RP. Many are beginning to look harder at fiat currency, foreign policy, an over extended american empire and a host of other RP relevant ideas.
Yeesh, I wish I hadn't been reminded of that interview.

Thank you Dr. Paul for explaining Earmarks. It makes complete sense to me now. It is the level of spending that needs to be addressed. It sounds like a pot of money is appropriated and if it is not earmarked, then it goes to the Administration to be spent at will. The example you gave was an excellent one. If we had earmarked the money in the TARP, then it would have had to have gone to exactly where it was earmarked to go. This same thing happened in our local government budget. A pot of money was set aside as unallocated. These funds were used as the local government wished (ie by-passed budget earmarking).

Does it really make sense for congressmen to earmark things like:
Wooden bow and arrows
A study to determine how to prevent pig feces from stinking
Money to study copulation of cats
Cash for high speed rail to and from nowhere?
