John Tate and their "fundraisers" are seriously getting on my nerves
First off I paid into Ron Paul's movement ALOT of money, the ONLY money I've ever paid to a politician. Now the campaign for liberty is asking in four letters so far, and most recently a phone call to my home for money-LOTS OF MONEY. I want to chew out the moron who's heading up Campaign for Liberty right now and make him realize this was always about accountability and transparency and VISION.
They're sending out letters and messages asking for our "opinion", but my options are ridiculously vague (e.g. do i want to oppose barack obama or congress?). And their plans aren't spelled out in any way. A retarded chimp could do a more imaginative job getting funding for their efforts. We had people who paid for a BLIMP A MOTHERF'IN BLIMP and now the campaign for liberty has devolved into a moneygrubbing lawyer trough with no real goals and no real vision.
I'm still a precinct leader and county coordinator and I'm making contributions in my own way, but in no way will I ever pay into campaign for liberty and with all the other conservative movements gaining speed like www.resistnet.com I'm seriously looking at jumping ship. Here's some ideas the guys over at campaign for liberty should look into BEFORE asking for money:
-Buying local airtime for campaign for liberty
-having flea markets/yard sales for local campaign for liberty
-coordinating getting local people elected to office and helping smaller PAC's raise money
-coordinating rallies, events and everything else that people do independently on the C4L website
-Getting together a list of legislation and representatives to support or throw out
Come on campaign for liberty show some imagination and networking skills. This constant grubbing for money is ticking me off

Ron Paul seems to attract incompetent campaign staff (not all)
I'm more inclined to support hardball efforts. Time is too short to be funding mild mannered measures.

OK, so do I have to come to
OK, so do I have to come to Tate's defense? So I too got the long phone message from Tate and the initial caller spoke some sort of language I could barely understand. I gave them a $100 bucks. I got the survey in the mail and it was kind of lame. But the point is, if you are not willing to bug the shit out of people then you cannot make it in politics. You have to ask a 100 people to get 1 or 2 yeses. It's sales. And the definition of sales is "the art of overcoming rejection."
I encounter sooo many rude people when I am working the polls for a candidate. Guess what? I get enough people to greatly help a candidate, sign a petition, vote, etc. So in the end, rude people suck, but all the work was worth it.
So it's a nasty business to get money for our cause and I appreciate what Tate is doing for our cause. C4L is RP's orginization, so I don't understand why there all this hate. I too think the money was mismanaged for the presidential campaign. If you don't want to donate, then don't. But since everyone around here likes the truth, the truth is without money, candiates lose and the message doesn't get heard.
agreed.
agreed.

In fact, if they weren't
In fact, if they weren't mailing me and calling me, I would be ticked off. I would be thinking, why in the heck aren't those people doing something to make money. Now, I am looking forward to seeing what they do with that money. If they don't make any progress, the money will stop coming in I'm sure.
Treason!!!!
I am getting these e-mails also. WTF? This isn't what I signed up for. Solicited e-mails to help some college kids go to a libery forum in dc for 50 bucks!
Oh you didn't know? Most of us are saving up 2300 dollars to fund not the C4L but Ron Paul's run in 2012. If he doesn't run then I get 2300 dollars back. Whoopee. F*CK the C4L. They're wearing out their welcome. Everyday it seems I am required to open an e-mail and send money to one of there causes. What about our cause. What about FREEDOM!
They're playing the percentages.
A certain percentage will send money. If it didn't work, they wouldn't do it. I can appreciate the attempt as I'm sure the organization could use the money. All the same I hate to see the waste in mailing to *me* since I intend to send them nothing till I win Powerball.

I got that same letter...
I got that same letter... but I didn't really agree with any of the options, so I didn't pick one, and instead I just wrote a very SHORT note... like 1 or 2 sentences saying what I thought.
Wondering why the return env for C4L donation is Lake Jackson TX
? Does anyone think this is more than a fundraising plea (perhaps a scam?) I just don't see anything written about this survey on their site.
Lake Jackson
is Ron Paul territory, just down the road a piece from Clute, where Ron lives.
I know that is Dr. Paul's district. Just wondered why the PO Box
and not the Alexandria, VA address they use on their website? Is this legit?
The Lake Jackson PO box is the address on the C4L...
...mail in donation form on their site.

Thanks, Jiminy!
That makes me feel better, but I'm still not sure I'm going to send money right now.
No problem Qwerk. I'm glad you brought it up.
After the odd questions I encountered from the person on the C4L phone call today, and with what others have been saying on this thread, I also was beginning to wonder if there wasn't something fishy going on.
Pat Robertson & Tate ?
I got a recorded call the other day from Ron Paul then switched to an operator that wanted me to send $200 to the C4L. I said no.
Got another call today from the same bunch using Ron Paul's name (wife answered phone) I told her to hang up.
I'm waiting for the R3VOLUTION (no more money).
BTW, I can't stand Pat Robertson and anyone associated with him !
Robertson was different and sane back in "88
The Texas Republican Party greew away from the moderate rich country club republicans becasue of Pat. Conservatives and Libertarians got a boost because of his running in the '88 primary. It was our attempt to save the reagan revolution to get back to the constitution, but the Bush Clintons stole the show and destroyed the party and you know the rest
Sorry, I just don't trust fat rich mealy mouthed preachers
anymore than the pope who sits on a #800 golden throne in Rome.
If Pat Robertson was Mother Teresa or a wandering beggar Jew [Jesus] that's different. Get the idea ?
We should all learn from C4L
and start our own letter writing campaign to OUR favorite representative, RON PAUL. and tell him what we think of C4L?
This is not the first bad things i've heard about C4L
Our local C4L meetup feels like it's falling apart.
- There is not enough interaction or new members.
- No organization
I have also heard some rather un-flattering things about Tate as well.
It seems Young Americans for Liberty is making headway. C4L is at a standstill with little momentum. This is just my experience.
I've donated to both and feel YAL has real motivation to make a difference.

Just kidding.
I got a signed book of Ron's at the class before the Minnesota rally. Nothing happened for Months, well, nothing still has happened since.
The class was hard politics from a professional. I didn't like it. I didn't like his tactics, the teacher, consultant, hard core activist guy.
Tate was a campaign chairman for Pat Robertson in 1988. State or national, I don't know. You can see their profiles on the c4l website.
I agree, what happened to the 25 million? What is happeneing now to the 4 million or so that Paul gave them to start C4L?
So, they had a booth at CPAC, well did that cost them $10? It seems that you guys are hitting it right. C4L are professionals.
That a$$ can KMA.. He
That a$$ can KMA.. He screwed-up Ron's run for the Presidency and he will screw-up the CFL... Ron has made 2 mistakes with that POS running his national campaign anf CFL... They have called me 5 times in as many weeks. The next call will get a nasty reply and a demand. If that doesnt work than I will contact Ron.

Well,
with donation expectations of $600-$1800, and event "entry fees" of $160, and seemingly all efforts based solely on money grubbing, I think it's clear to see why the C4L is not getting anywhere. They are certainly reflecting the "Washington DC mentality", with their "big money requests", and "do nothing" results.
They aren't even doing what they are supposed to do, and maybe that's because they don't have a clue about anything except having luncheons in Georgetown with their Armani-suited buddies. On our dime..
What happened to the $22 million?
Did they take that in salaries already?
How much are these people being paid?
What do they have to show for themselves?
What is the value of this C4L organization?
I think these are some serious questions.
And what I'm seeing isn't making me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Maybe Campaign for Money might be a better name.
They seem to fit right in with Ted Kennedy's $2500 chicken salad sandwiches.
i think they started with 4-5 million. but i agree, where is...
the money ?
salaries must be known.

I had to remove my name…
…from the CFL because they were getting so obnoxious. The last letter that I received, they asked me for a donation of $1,800.00 (highest) and $600.00 (lowest.) And exactly what were they going to to do for liberty (and me) with this massive amount of money? Why, they were going to send petitions to Senators, John McCain and Jon Kyle of Arizona asking them NOT to support the bailouts. Really! Like these two treacherous snakes-in-the-grass could give a rusty flying F**k about anyone or anything except themselves and their pals.
I sent Ron Paul the maximum contributions for his campaign because he has earned the trust of all Americans. I have VERY SERIOUS doubts about the CFL. In fact I now, believe that there is NOTHING that can save America. America will have to crash and burn to be rebuilt out of the ashes (if anyone has the guts to care). In the mean time, I will prepare and provide for myself and family. I no longer have the time or money for making feeble attempts at trying to fix a system that is broken beyond repair, or trying to educate the idiot OBOMBATRONS and closet communists. On top of that, I think I am losing faith in Ron Paul himself. Why? because he is just too damn nice. It seems like he is constantly making excuses for congress and the senate (like saying that they mean well). He should be publicly be denouncing them ALL as traitors, terrorists and much, much worse.
Sorry for the rant… I'm sick and need help. I think I need a hug :-)

Today is the first call I have received from them...
...perhaps because I am usually at work during that time, but was not today.
At any rate, I immediately sensed the "disconnect" people are referring to below when, after the RP and Tate messages played, another person came on the line.
I can't remember exactly what she asked me when she came on the line, but I responded saying something about RP talking about Obama and using the word "nightmare" in the message and I laughed.
This person had no idea what I was talking about and started asking questions about that. I even kind of wondered if she was a little bit offended. She didn't say that, but her questions were very odd.
She did say that she had not listened to either of the messages.
Her reaction to what I said and her questions, though, were something I don't think anyone who knows anything about Ron Paul would have responded with.
I wondered if she was really a Ron Paul supporter at all, or just someone hired for the fundraising portion.
I got so many calls from
I got so many calls from them that after the 4th one, I asked that they remove me from their list. They were asking for both me and my wife, since we both contributed to the campaign.
After all the promise, it is sad to see what this has become.
To the comment below
Proof is in the pudding. There's hundreds of people on resistnet.com that are forming rallies spontaneously without any calling from any "leadership". I can post whatever I want without censoring and I've gotten people tons of information on that site just like I post here.
If I didn't like who was in the Republican party would I switch parties? Nope, that's because I know what the republican party is supposed to stand for.
Resistnet.com has done good work and has exploded in popularity because it brings together all different conservatives against the administration's communist manuveurs, and if you're really that paranoid you're not going to get anywhere forming a coalition against the NWO.

Where There's PR Smoke, There's Grassfire.org, Dude
Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, May 9, 2008
Columnist Dimitri Vassilaros received a news release about a grassroots "petition to stop climate alarmism" and attacking Al Gore's work. He checked it out and found that "for an organization that claims 'we are grassroots to the core,' Grassfire.org acts as if it is hiding a lot of Astroturf. The politically conservative nonprofit is happy to talk about its worthy online petition campaigns," but is "very tight-lipped about talking about itself. ... The Maxwell, Iowa, address for donations to the grassroots organization is clearly displayed on its Web site. But its 2006 IRS 990 form states its address is Bethesda, Md., near Washington, D.C." The SourceWatch article on Grassfire revealed its relationship to Craig Shirley and his "slick Washington-area PR firm, Shirley & Banister Public Affairs. ... When asked a few times about the organization's finances, [Grassfire's] Mr. De Jong first said he didn't know the size of the organization that he speaks for. He also said he 'could ask around' about that 990 form. When I offered to ask the bookkeeper for him, De Jong said, 'She will call, dude. Relax. I'll take care of it for you. I am a man of my word.' As of Thursday noon, no one had called this dude."
:
:
And there's this:
:
:
Grassfire.org, an Iowa-based "alliance of conservative citizens," has disseminated messages supporting President Bush's re-election bid.1
Grassfire began a campaign of pro-Bush and anti-Kerry ads in late 2003.2 Grassfire's first ad, in December 2003, chronicled torture of Iraqi people at the hands of Saddam Hussein, and asked viewers to tell Congress and the media that they support President Bush. The second criticized the pro-Democratic organization MoveOn.org, and urged viewers to show groups like MoveOn.org that "right-minded Americans" support the president. The third ad castigated John Kerry for voting against military spending, supporting gay rights, and opposing both tax cuts and the balanced budget amendment.3
The group appears to harbor particular enmity for MoveOn.org. It is sponsoring an "I support the commander in chief petition," which also declares: "I am also deeply concerned about the damaging efforts of radical leftist organizations like MoveOn.org who continue to use the media to distort and mislead the citizens of our nation—in hopes of undermining the confidence and credibility of our president."4
Grassfire solicits contributions on its Web site. To those who contribute $30 or more the group promises to rush a copy of "our top-selling book, 'George Bush: On God And Country.'"
Grassfire employs Shirley & Banister Public Affairs as its public relations firm.5 That firm is headed by Craig Shirley, who was a member of the team that developed the "Willie Horton" ad in 1988. That ad blamed Gov. Michael Dukakis (D-Mass.), who was the running for president against Vice President George H.W. Bush, for a furlough program that allowed Horton to spend a weekend out of jail during which he raped a woman.6 7
Currently, Shirley's firm serves as a consultant to the Republican National Committee, the National Rifle Association and the Law Enforcement Alliance of America. In 2002, Shirley served on the board of directors of the United Seniors Association.
