RP is in a different class

they may both speak truth to power, but Dennis has nothing on RP. It bothers me to see them in the same category.

I admire both for speaking their mind...

Dennis has revealed many of the truths, but he still thinks government is a good thing.

Ron Paul believes in the people...as the constitution states there are few roles the government should play and the rest is left to the states and the people.

This government is like paying for insurance you'll never use...if that insurance policy cost 50% of your income....most people would have to get rid of it. But somehow...the majority of people are constantly told we need it by those who profit from it... Wake up people! We don't need most of this government...they promise what they can't deliver....

Good Article

This is a perfect article to forward to friends and family who buy into the labeling of Ron Paul. Maybe it would convince those types to take a closer look at RP. Just this week, I was talking to my sister and a good friend who both thought that RP was running as an Independent! How on Earth they came to that conclusion, one can only guess. Can you say Main Stream Media?! Not only do they call Ron Paul names, but they plant the seeds of suggestion to marginalize him. The jokes on them, though. All it does is instill defiant anger in me, and motivates me to donate more $.

Why pass it around?

Fox News is openly owned by Rupert Murdoch, a hardline supporter of the Republican Party, but the other major media corporations are in the same boat, affiliated if not directly owned by companies that make their living doing business with our military.

In effect, the major media in the United States makes a good portion of their income from war.

I know

Like my mom she doesn't even watch the news really except a little fox and she is almost devoutly pro bush. it hurts just to write that... and i try and try to tell her and show her things and all she says is how she can't believe certain things and how bush has kept us safe blah blah blah... but she doesnt even keep up with anything or anyone so i don't know why she is so resistant to the truth. so i am frustrated a little with that. many are just like her too...

the truth is scary

The truth is scary. Some choose not to see because it makes them feel safer. When presented with the choice, we wouldnt all take the truth pill. Some are happy to go along living like this because they think if they just keep their heads down, somehow things will be ok throughout their lifetime.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

I know Dennis is popular

I know Dennis is popular here, but I don't like him either. I know he speaks the truth on several subjects, but he is just as far left into socialism as Hillary. The only difference is that he has the balls to be frank on some of the discussion.

Agreed

It does seem like a lot of RP supporters are also Dennis Kucinich fans. I don't know why though. Being from Ohio it's just kind of funny to see him running because he always does but, who knows why.

Well, I looked and I agree with some of it

I think he was inspired by Chomsky's "Manufacturing Consent" which I've read and agree with UP TO A POINT.

I think pointing to "corporate interests" as the problem is a bit of a red herring. 11 corporations is a lot more diverse a field than one politically correct GOVERNMENT news source, for instance.

In a free market, how can you provide the capital to run a news outfit without corporations? Don't say the internet, cause almost ALL the news you get on the internet was churned out by the very corporations he was villifying.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree that the power of information is too concentrated in too few entities, BUT what's the alternative?

Moving on, the one point he (and Chomsky) make that's VERY important, is the FRAMING of the issues. It's the questions that are asked and the assumptions that are made. "Does Ron Paul still beat his wife" etc.

comment?

P.S. how do i turn off the italics!!??

Corporations are a business

News Corporations are a business, they operate on getting advertising funding. Those funders have interest too. So the news outlets are cautious not to broadcast anything that would seriously piss off their sponsors for fear of losing funding. The news corporations are not all that different actually. Political difference of news is all propaganda bs, to divide people and make them choose sides, behind the scenes both political parties are in collusion with each other, like two heads of the same serpent. Its the illusion of choice and diversity.

Corporations did not always exist and not all news organizations are corporate owned. Like local news, and the power of the internet allows people to search local news where the capital is partially externalized by the consumer. But so long as "the news" maintains itself as a business they're always under the pressure of not pissing off their sponsors for fear of losing funding.

Then why does PBS suck?

oh, answered my own question.

y'know i been thinkin

if the merkin sheeple are so dumb as to be fooled by these cretins, then answer me this:
dummies don't watch the news or (god forbid) read newspapers. So how does the media influence them so greatly. Collective consiousness osmosis?
discuss please.
p.s. i don't do caps very well

Makes me wonder...

I wonder if anyone even wants to know the truth anymore. Is it a coincidence that the media wants you to know more about O.J. II?

"Free government is founded in jealousy, and not in confidence; it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited constitutions." Thomas Jefferson, Kentucky Resolutions of 1798

Lou Dobbs

Last night he was openly calling for a candidate to run who would do the things that Dr Paul has already voiced. I watched in disbelief while he called out for 'anybody to step forward and run for president b/c we don't have anyone qualified'. I was yelling at the TV we already have our man why don't you acknowledge that Mr Dobbs. He says practically the same things Dr Paul does about different topics. I was begining to think that he really cared about America but I realise that he is merely pandering. If the problems got solved or were being solved there would be a lot less to complain about and less people watching. Well there is one less watching now anyways. RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!!!

Could it be

that Dobbs is setting himself up to run? He gives the clarion call. When supposedly nobody answers, he has to step in to fill the void.

I agree with you... watching the tail end of Lou Dobbs'

show yesterday, I thought to myself - "well, if this isn't setting himself up for a run on the Independent ticket, then I don't know what is... (or setting someone else yet to be named for it)''

Excellent Article

It amazes me how powerful the media is over our lives from advertising to the news stories.

Yes

There comes a point when its a rational choice to just turn the television off for your own sanity...and I do that. But how do we fight the influence of a controlled media effectively?

The level of corporomediastate control in the 21st century USA is unprecedented in its scope and influence on the world, considering the USA military reach and cultural and economic impact all over the globe. All under the sacrosanct cover of "the free market", "democracy" and "a free press". There isn't one of history's dictators that would not have killed to have had the keys to this media machine.
