I just saved $30 a month by calling Verizon

I have a two-year "bundled" contract with Verizon for phone, internet and TV that runs about $129/month, including all the fees and taxes. I'd been without cable from 2003 - 2007, and the only reason I signed up for it was to watch Dr. Paul in the debates back in late 2007. I should have just stuck with YouTube. (Well, they did give me a nice 19" flat screen LCD TV, too, and a $100 gift card.)

Since my contract doesn't expire until the end of this year, they were going to charge me a $169 cancellation fee just to cut out the TV and keep the phone and internet! I asked the lady if she could reduce the monthly bill, and she ended up cutting $30 per month for the next six months.

In this economy, companies are struggling to keep their clients. When the FiOS guy came out to install the service last year, he spent a full day putting in the new box. They don't want to lose that investment.

If you have any fixed payments like this, give them a call. This includes credit cards and any other payments as well.

Has anyone else had similar success?

Comcast, AT&T, Time Warner

I'm comparing bundled prices at AT&T. I'd love to fire my cable company, which I have, mostly because they give me broadband Internet access.

In the past, I've gotten concessions from the cable company (they change names every 2-3 years).

Comcast is running TV ads here, now, and AT&T called me at home to try for the business I have with Time Warner currently.

The really bad thing is that Culver City, CA charges 11% utility tax on all of them, including 11% tax on late fees. It's the highest tax rate in the state and close to the highest, nationally.

Verizon Internet for Business

My phone company wanted 200.00 a month for internet because it was on a business phone line, so forget that! I use my 3Gwireless for 59.00 a month and can work on my web sites most anywhere, that has saved me a lot of money. It is so cool to sit under a tree in the woods and work on my web sites. Also beats the heck out of having to pay for service if you need it in more than one location. Another advantage is being able to use it when the power is out, which seems to happen a lot here.

I will check into these other specials, thanks for the tips. The two year contracts and cancellation fees suck but all in all I've had more reliable service with my wireless than I have ever had from cable or DSL. I watch my fair share of videos and have never gone over the usage limit.

That is great.

That is great.

He's the man.

I agree with business cutting prices

I am not giving away the store, but I am negotiating to an extent now.

Some of something is better than all of nothing any day.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

I pay a flat $100 per year

I don't use my phone much, so 1250 minutes lasts a long time for me, plus I get free internet access through T-Zones on T-Mobile for the whole year. You can't surf the whole web, but I can surf all of CNN, ABCnews, ESPN and T-Mobiles proprietary links for stuff. Surfing does'nt charge any minutes, so I rack up more internet surfing on it then talking to people lol

That is scary to hear that

That is scary to hear that they are offering up MSM stuff free. The major ISP's are wanting to move the internet in the direction cable is. You will be able to choose from an approved list of available sites

I've been with Verizon for about six months.

They are nothing but trouble.

Their billing is atrocious. I've never received a correct bill from them yet.

Every month is a fight, complaint, refund, etc.

Horrible company.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

I'm thinking about going

I'm thinking about going with verizon. Atm, I have comcast, they are charging me $63/ month for 10mb/second. For the last 3 years living with my mom they only charged me $45/month with no tv/phone. I think its messed up because you can get the cable/tv/internet option for like $90. Verizon is offering a deal 25.99/month for 1mb/second. I'll figure something out by the 20th.
