Does anyone believe that we've actually 'touched the bottom' in this recession/depression?Submitted by LastAmericanStanding on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 16:15
I watched some talking heads today.... from the sound of them, lying bastards that they are, you'd think this was just a little 'blip' on the screen and we're on our way out of the woods.
Have they forgotten the trillions that have been printed that will crush the economy the rest of the way once it reaches you and I?
Have they forgotten the millions of people out of work?
Have they forgotten that we are a country that doesn't produce much anymore and that what we produce costs too much?
Here's my deal... I came out of the computer industry in 2001 after that market collapsed on itself (go into computers...it's the future....sure). Luckily I had a trade in my back pocket and started my own hardwood flooring business and have done it full time ever since.
Right now, the economy is so bad that I've been spending my days home or working as a substitute teacher in local schools. I had to take a weekend job as a security guard in order to bring in some money to cover the bills that are starting to drown us.
How is this going to be over? What are they talking about. Even if this did represent the bottom, it will take years to climb out of the abyss we've fallen into. And we Ron Paul proponents know a little too much to believe that this represents the end of anything.
A brief respite, maybe. A lull before the next sh*tstorm...
We will be eating out of our supplies for now, praying for the warmer weather so I can start the garden. Hoping we can continue to meet the mortgage payments and keep the power on at the same time.
As Yogi said "It ain't over till it's over."
