So do truthers think Osama bin Laden played no role in the event?
Or do they think he was a US government puppet via CIA?

He's pretty spot on with what's wrong with our foreign policy and why they hate us.
If it was an inside job why would Bin Laden write this letter that is contradictory to everything the Bush administration preached... that they hate us because we're free and infidels?
If he wasn't responsible wouldn't he instead write "Your government is tricking you", and if he was responsible but a puppet wouldn't he write "Allah allah, die infidels, you are too free to live on this earth, hezbolah, allah"?
This seems to debunk the inside job theory to me. Still leaves open the possibility the Fed was complacent and waiting for the attack... as we all now know, we should not let any crisis go to waste.

and nobody really knows what he said. I know they lied about what Amadidiejad said (sorry I used to know how to spell his name) They did not have evidence to charge him. Fact! They are limiting and leading.
OBL most likely was involved. To what degree, who knows? It is known that intelligence operations do infiltrate target groups and use them for their own purposes. Perhaps OBL's plans were facilitated by them. Being connected with the CIA would not necessarily indicate being a puppet.
Attempting to base some sort of conclusion based on the letter is a waste of time...nothing can be determined. What is known is OBL was never charged with 911 due to lack of evidence. For such a major crime, it seems there has been a chilling lack of criminal investigation.
(And thanks for the edit..."truther" has become somewhat of a perjorative).

It doesn't matter what Bin Laden wrote.
The War on Terror was orchestrated to serve two primary purposes:
1. To destroy civil liberties in America.
2. To serve as an on-ramp for a war in Iraq.
Bin Laden has probably been dead for over seven years. Anything attributed to him is probably hogwash. On the other hand, even if he's alive, I consider him more of a brand name than a real person. He's like the Islamic terrorist version of Joe Camel or Mrs. Butterworth.
As 9-11 goes, nothing can ever be proven, but several important red flags jump out:
A. There is no explanation for the collapse of WTC-7 that can be squared with the fundamentals of building construction or fire science.
B. After AA Flight 11 struck the north tower:
-Seventeen minutes elapsed before the second plane hit the south tower.
-Fifty-one minutes elapsed before the hit on the Pentagon.
These time gaps seem incredibly suspicious considering the events that preceded them, and the airspace surrounding the Pentagon should have been in a state of complete lockdown 51 minutes after the attack on the north tower.

All very good points. I feel the investigation should be reopened not only because it was a piss poor investigation to begin with, but because we need to hold administrative officials accountable for ignoring evidence.
I personally think that the government simply allowed the plan to be carried out. Maybe we had CIA or Mossad agents infiltrating... but this letter leads me to believe that Osama bin Laden did have a role in it.
Osama's letter is never mentioned by truthers because it hurts their ideology, that the government is responsible for everything.
I would just like an opinion on this letter, and how it supports OUR belief, the belief of Ron Paul, that our meddling in the middle east is responsible for the terrorism. Why would a fabricated government letter include that argument?

Bin Laden probably did write it. That shouldn't contradict any 911 truth movement. Bin Laden doesn't prove responsibility for 911 or even claim it in this letter unless I missed it.

Pearl Harbor was the first precedent for that, in my opinion.
I think the terrorists were real and the planes were real, but the government could have stopped it from happening and chose not to do so.
It's still a criminal act of malfeasance and treason.
Also, someone still blew up at least one of the towers, and likely all three.
