Why do you care?
Why do we care what Fred's money bomb did or didn't do? You should be more worried that Huck is getting press when he's raised nada, but got the nod from the CFR. I am educating all my friends about this to explain his sudden 'popularity'....
it bombed
according to Lew rockwell - http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/017091.html
As of this morning, the initative had garnered, I kid you not, a grand total of 82 pledges.
Is Ron Paul going to get more donations today then Thompson?
ARe we going to beat Thompson on his money bomb day?
Tracy
PR Blunder
Whatever the total numbers are, it will be very weak. Let's hope the media reports their failed attempt and exposes Thompson's lack of support.
PS - Knowing millions of Americans are reading that amazing USA Today ad has me giddy today. Mr. Lepard is a hero!
The idea of posting real
The idea of posting real time fundraising numbers is fairly new. RP's campaign was the first I know of to have the courage to do it. I wouldn't count on the establishment folks doing it. Most of their money comes from places that they don't want to be so transparent.
5% of people make things happen
10% of people watch things happen
85% say "What happened?"
Give Jon Bydlak Credit for this...
He is one of the MAIN PEOPLE on staff there that advocated making the data VISIBLE and available.
I know because I "chewed" on him back in mid-September after he sent a "Fundraising Update" letter that had no "update" info in it at all, so I called and read him the riot act about the fact that "we" in the grassroots felt we were donating into a proverbial black hole, and that we needed REAL info on how our contributions were "adding-up" -- and that if they would give us some thing for a REAL feedback-loop (as used effectively in 2004 by the Howard Dean campaign's online "baseball bat" thermometers), that the grassroots supporters would take the lead and really PULL the fundraising forward.
He listened, argued for and against, and by the end of the call I had him convinced and he agreed and said that while he already was an advocate for more "openness", he would take my arguments MUCH more strongly and PUSH the campaign to give us feedback.
Just one week later, we had the "fill the quill" giving us a donor "count" -- the following week came the first thermometer and the MILLION dollar week.
But I don't think ANY of us anticipated the success of Nov5th (it blew me away, I didn't expect that it would even reach $1 Million --- proved me to be WRONG on "pledges" and way too underestimating of the size of grassroots support).
So, I guess my point here is that while people are chewing on Jon Bydlak over his email -- the guy DOES deserve MUCH of the credit for the TRANSPARENCY and the REAL-TIME visibility that underlie ANY of the Nov5th and TeaParty efforts. He is both SMART, and 150% COMMITTED to this campaign. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT the next time he makes what YOU think is a minor "misstep".
79 pledges
There were 79 pledges when I checked yesterday. LOL
ive been looking
but to no avail. I believe we are expecting to much from their sad campaign. His grassroots supporters are just as lazy as Fred. Maybe they are hibernating.
If i was them (glad im not), and although it would be to late of a fundraising event, i would pick valentines day in honor of Fred's economic evaluation, which he describes as "ROSY"
thats hilarious man
Too funny
Lot's of quotes come to mind...
Not an official campaign fundraiser
This is a private fundraising effort from a group "blogs for Fred Thompson" that has zero traction on the web. This spitball of a bomb might end up being a FredsGivingUpDay I reckon.
I just looked at the Pennsylvania Fred heads theres 2 members
He has all these groups with only a couple memebrs this joker is running on Law and order thats it.
Richard Nixon said he's "dumb as hell"
compare
Compare this comment from Nixon about Thompson with Reagan's endorsement of Ron Paul.
No competition, really. If only America knew the truth directly.
