Rush discussed MIAC report on his show today

0 votes

Just an FYI - I was listening to Rush in the car today and he talked about this. He described the bumper stickers with Ron Paul and people against NAU considered a threat, etc. and kept saying "I am NOT making this up, people". This is an AP story.

I haven't been able to find it on Drudge or anywhere else but I think it is getting out there.

If a bumber sticker causes

If a bumber sticker causes caution, what in the world do they think about the meetup organizers?

I am hearing this story on the radio in Pitt.

I think it would be really funny if...

I think it would be really funny if all the Government vehicles in that state were covered in Campaign for Liberty Stickers or the such. I am not advocating such action at all, I just think it would be really funny to see.

I wonder if the Missouri State Police

will like my new bumper sticker --

"The Terrorists Were Right"

To Kevin's comment

Well said! I couldn't agree more...and I did the same thing when Rush insisted on gushing over Bush. Disgusted me. Had to stop listening.

A great message to patriots regarding MIAC report

I need to pass along this great link from FreedomsPhoenix.com (famed site of famed Ernie Hancock).

Call Me Oyate has a great way of writing and has great advice to us all. Here's a great part:

"And let's not fail to appreciate the humor in this matter. Let's encourage these fine authors with such salacious facts as "persons who eat meat-loaf and mashed potatoes are likely to be patriots" and "patriots often line-dry their clothing instead of tumble-drying like normal people". Let's take it a step further and market ourselves and say "if you are eating a really fine beef-stake tomato in season, it probably comes from a patiot". How about tag-lines like "the taste that's too good to incarcerate" or the direct approach of "who's gonna change your tire?""

Bumper Sticker handout

Someone needs to make some patriot bumper stickers in Missouri and get a local radio station to plug a handout event so every car has some kind of patriot sticker on the back! Ron Paul, C4L, Flag, etc.

Rush goes out of his way

to ignore that Ron Paul is in the Republican party .... a member of congress even .... sheesh

everything was about his being libertarian -

(which obviously nothing is wrong with that)

except - it is to try to keep his listeners away from RP
and keep them thinking that he is outside .....

These Republicans who are warmongers will never accept RP or anyone
who is Non-Interventionist

Just Come Home!

Exactly!

artistsforRP. The man is employed as a Representative in the US Congress not some rogue, fringe revolutionary, screaming through a bullhorn on a street corner! I am amazed how marginalized this man still is.

Ignore it.

What is with everyone and media?

Rush is a propagandist.

Opposition is controlled.

Please stop listening to these radio people and reporting it here.

Yes, but do you know how

Yes, but do you know how many people they reach.

As one poster put it, "There are many uses for a 'tool'"

Amen to that

People are afraid of good news in this movement!
Seize the day---use what Rush has given you. He's
now opened this up to 20 million more people--who
cares what his motives are. We can take over from here.

Oh great. Another Daily Paul Nanny.

You can ask all you want, but this site is for the free expression of viewpoints.

Telling Daily Paul members who they can listen to, or not, is not your job.

Thank you.

He's just defining the new "rascals" (a la Quigley).

My take on Rush Limbaugh

Rush has something in common with Al Sharpton: both have toned down their rhetoric to be less inflammatory. This does not mean that I either like or agree with either of these guys. But I have noticed a change.

Rush had a TV show a while back and was taken to the woodshed by an audience member who decried Rush's use of the term "Feminazi." She let him have it. She was articulate and forceful; Rush was abashed. It was good to see.

Both Rush and Sharpton are pompous windbags, but occasionally say the right things. In a very small way, Rush is coming around. Emphasis on small. He has toned down, though still pompous. I do not listen to him.

Many of you know I worked in TV for many years in New York. While I was mostly at NBC, I freelanced out for other jobs. One job was to 'roll prompter' for Rush. Back then (around 1995 or so) he was doing intros to a video collection of silly things Hillary said. He sat in a chair on the set and just read off the prompter. Easy work for all.

At one point, they had to change tape (this was before the age of digital recording) and the Stage Manager called for a 'Tech Five.' This means a 5 minute break. I was sitting at the prompter (a PC with a little box with a knob, allowing me to 'scroll") behind the set wall. Next thing I know, Rush is standing behind me, patting me on the shoulder.

"I just want you to know I think you're doing a super job," said Rush. Then he went back to the set.

In all my years of working in TV, no 'Talent' has ever left the set to come back to my post to compliment me. Not once, ever.

Regardless of what I thought of his views, his pomposity or his ego, he suddenly became a nice and thoughtful man. I shall never forget that.

Rush is what he is.

I take him at surface value. He seems very talented at what he does--much more talented than other most newstalk squawkers, and more professional.

I stopped listening to him soon after George W. Bush was elected. I couldn't stand listening to him promote Bush, or back other neo-cons in the Republican mainstream.

I still don't listen to him, but I don't understand the hostility toward him in this movement. References are made to Rush insulting Ron Paul, but I do not recall him saying anything more negative than that he thought Ron Paul was 'weird'. Which is pretty mild for him...you should look up what Limbaugh has had to say about John McCain in the past eighteen months.

Back when I was a Buchananite, Rush would trash Pat occasionally, and it was very irritating. But then when Pat got into hot water with politically correct liberals over the book "A Republic, Not an Empire", and Pat was labeled a 'hatemonger', Rush defended him on air, and said "Pat doesn't hate anybody."

I can understand people holding a grudge against Glenn Beck, because Beck threatened all of us in 2007 with his 'domestic terrorists' tirade. I think he's mostly harmless now, and might be coming around, but I can certainly understand the distrust of Beck. He earned it. He will never be trusted until he delivers a mea culpa to Ron Paul followers, and he has not done that.

Rush, by contrast, is a promoter of mainstream conservatism, which is to say a promoter of the GOP---although he has recently taken to saying he is not a Republican. I haven't figured out exactly what he's done to inspire such bile from people who consider themselves conservatives or fellow Republicans. You can say he's 'part of the problem', and I'd agree with that, or at least he was while the Republicans were in power. They aren't now, and we haven't even decided where we stand with the GOP yet.

People, including broadcasters, change

Kevin, I agree with most of what you said. But the Glenn Beck of 2007 is gone and a better Glenn Beck has surfaced. Same with Rush, same with Al Sharpton. I like Beck, still don't muck like Rush or Sharpton, but they have toned down the rhetoric and appear more sensible.

Nobody's perfect and I cut the personalities a lot of slack. The audiences like it when the hosts bombastic - Alex Jones is a good example, and most of the Daily Paul folks like him (most of the time). Mike Savage, on the other hand, is just nuts.

I called up Alan Colmes one day (he's been a friend for 30 years and I love the guy) and said, "What the heck is Michael Savage doing? This is crazy stuff and very inflammatory!" Alan sagely pointed out that what Savage, and others do, is entertainment. That's all that it is.

Jim Cramer is another screamer. He was fairly contrite with Jon Stewart (much to my surprise) but his show is electrifying, if sometimes wrong.

It's on Drudge now

Third party candidate?

Is this a 1987 article? LOL.

WAHOR!!
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/48994

I've listened to Rush my whole life.

Sometimes I'm not in accord and other times he presents a perspective that I may have been in denial about.

Rush softens the news for his audience, and compliments them daily. He's uplifting and full of hope and leaves you with answers and prospectives for your review. Today, he gave Obama's teleprompter it's own name! That's a profound concept, yet easy to grasp the meaning.

And for you DPr's that post here, my guess is your work is being read everyday by Rush or someone on his staff, as a source of guidence and temperment.
Be who we are and write from your heart.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

He took the occasion to marginalize Ron Paul.

Rush referred to Paul twice as a "third party candidate." This had to be deliberate on his part since he pays attention to the political process and has to be aware that, other than his 1988 run as the LP nominee, Paul has run and served as a Republican. He would hate to see Paul run again in 2012 for the Republican nomination.

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul

This is Huge (Even if it's empty)

This is so encouraging to hear! Keep up the work, patriots!

Encourage him, it is what he

Encourage him, it is what he wants. Email him and feed his ego. Maybe every day he will mention us and Ron Paul. He has talked about him twice now, more than he has mentioned him in two years. I am willing to build alliances on issues, not for "the party." Think of it that way.

He may not support us/Ron

He may not support us/Ron Paul/agree with us on all the issues, but it's in his best interest to get the word out... even though it doesn't mention talk radio, this is an attack on political affiliation/political protest/action/beliefs... it might be us today, and mainstream conservatism tomorrow (fairness doctrine, etc.).

So, even though Rush is not someone I care for quite a lot, we have our interests aligned, and thus, considering his voice/influence, he may prove a good ally.

How about an E-Mail bomb of Thanks!!!

I mean when they do good, shouldn't we reward them? By them I mean all the Talking heads we usually are at odds with.
