The Bonus Scheme

Very, very nice end play to tax the general public. Kudos to the ingenuity of government.

Lets follow the chain of events.

A stimulus package is requested by the Administration. .

Representatives of the people design a package so large and so long that no one can thoroughly investigate it in the time allowed.

A clause is added at the request of the Administration to protect the bonuses of those who have contracts for these bonuses before February 11.

The president signs it. (And reads what he signs? Or doesn't read what he signs?)

Bonuses are paid.

Public outrage turns their representatives into a frenzy of finger pointing and blame.

The President screams outrage.

More general outrage.

The president then steps forward and claims responsibility, but in a way that makes him look like a martyr for accepting blame for others, thereby winning admiration from his sheep.

The bonuses are then taxed and POOF!!!! Stimulus money that is absolutely needed to save a failing business is transfered to the general tax fund to pay for other programs.

Slick. Very Slick. Other non-emergency programs get more funding And the chief instigator of the scheme comes off as a hero for saving the people from ............... uh...............himself.

And all arising from the fact that so much make believe, non-existent money had been tossed around that we would surely die if we didn't find some way to finally make that money real with borrowed money (Stimulate -Stimulus) from our children and grandchildren as well as trading off our country rather than following the advice of sounder economic thinkers and letting reality set in to adjust us back into living with what we actually produce and have to use. But damn... You can't grow government that way.

Americans sure love their kool-aid.
