And any judge can overturn the jury's verdict if he disagrees...
If you struggle to acquit a man - caught carrying a gun illegally, lets say - and you succeeded in convincing the rest of your jurors that his 'offense' was his constitutional responsibility to defend himself and you all came back with a 'not guilty' verdict.
The presiding judge can dismiss the verdict and convict the man if he so chooses.
The law is slanted toward the law makers.
It is best to stay out of court altogether.
