CounterThink | I recently moved to Ecuador. Not for a vacation. Not for a month or two. I moved to Ecuador for good, as a permanent resident. Upon hearing my plans for living in South America, many people who knew me in the States asked things like, "Well what about the stability of Ecuador as a nation?" To which I would respond, "Oh, you mean the stability of banks that don't make loans and don't invest in derivatives? You mean the stability of a nation where the population still has the courage to march in the streets and throw corrupt officials out of its capitol?"

These questions make Americans pause. Most tend to think of public demonstrations as signs of a political instability. But in fact, public demonstrations are a sign of a healthy Democratic process. And Democracy is alive and well in Ecuador (with the usual level of corruption you find in any democracy).

It is in America, where the sheeple have been terrorized into staying inside the boundaries of their little "protest zones," that you find a fragile, unstable nation.

This collapse is just what the Doctor ordered. Strong medicine

for a dangerous disease.

Popular revolt against corrupt and criminal governments around the world.

We really do out-number and surround them. And we don't have to fire a single shot. We can organize and devise life-style changes that will cut off the power of the corrupt.

It's coming and it's called "The Last Hope Project".

"GINO" = Government In Name Only

Good luck!

My wife is from Ecuador, so I know a little about it. She along with everyone she knows has been mugged at knifepoint or gunpoint at least once. The president now is a well-meaning socialist trying to right the wrongs of past presidents. Sometimes he does things that make you want to cheer and other times he does things that are pretty scary and sound a lot like the way Chavez is headed.

I think around 2000 they switched to the dollar standard--they scrapped their currency for US Dollars, so they use our money over there as if it were their own. My wife said her effective income was slashed to around 25% instantly. Things have stabilized, but if the dollar goes south, Ecuador's economy will go down with it.

Ecuador has a huge underprivileged indigenous population. These are the cheap labor for all the middle and upper class folks. Their pay is ridiculously low so that they have no hopes of rising out of their poverty. This offers many Ecuadorians now the illusion of "good living", by taking advantage of the poor. Correa will change all that and then Ecuador won't be so great for many Ecuadoreans.

It used to be that they were a proud independent country--how many Ecuadorian food joints do you see in this country? Folks never emmigrated to the US. Now, they have a real problem with kidnappings (like Mexico). Gangsters from Columbia have been doing a lot of this in larger cities. So, all is not perfect in Ecuador. Surely, this guy could have picked a better country than Ecuador.

The US still seems better than any place I can think of moving to. Maybe I will think differently after 4 years of Obama. Besides, I live in Texas! :-)

What is worse than a

What is worse than a "depression"?
An inflationary depression.
At least in 1932 prices fell and people who had some savings or managed to keep their job (even at a much lower wage) were able to scrape by.
But in their infinite wisdom, Obama and his crew are trying to prop up home prices by infusing huge amounts of cash into the general economy.

Instead of beating the "dead horse" of the consumer economy, which would simply be stupid and futile, they are bleeding the living horse (the remaining productive sectors of the economy) to give it massive transfusions!

This is the kind of perfect storm that could actually give rise to hyperinflation.

But the real story starts to unfold when you realize the Federal Reserve is now hell bent on multiplying the U.S. money supply by a whopping fifteen times in 2009! This excellent article explains how this number is derived: http://www.marketskeptics.com/2009/...

Now think about this: If the Federal Reserve increases the U.S. money supply by a factor of fifteen, that means your dollars will be worth only 1/15th the value they represent right now. So a loaf of bread that costs a dollar right now could cost $15 when all this extra money ripples through the system. (Which will obviously take a couple of years, but 2009 will be the beginning of it.)

This is called "hyperinflation." We're talking about a loss of over 93% of the purchasing power of the dollar. That, my friends, is called a collapse of the currency.

And once it starts, the floodgates will be opened and the tsunami of investors and nations offloading dollars will be catastrophic and irreversible. By the time it's all done, the dollar might end up losing 99.9% of its value, and you can use greenbacks to light a fire or wipe your back side, as they will be useless for anything else.

Of course, in the early stages of the "tsunami", Obama will come to us again and warn us of another looming crisis. We will be told of the painful sacrifices that "every American" (i.e. taxpayer) will have to make to save us from economic disaster.
The Chinese will demand "collateral" in the form of the only thing we have left that interests them; our real estate.
But that will only be acceptable if they also have the right to protect their property in the U.S. by their own police or military force.
The Chinese will ask for their pound of flesh in the form of lost sovereignty, and we will be forced to give it to them, BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT!

Has anyone been to a grocery store recently??

The deals right now are amazing and have been for quite some time! Incredible! We're stocking up on EVERYthing!! No shortages of anything here. Gas is running about $1.79 or so. House prices are dropping. Again, some amazing deals out there. It's all speculation about coming collapses, hyperinflation, the end of the world economy as we know it....and on and on endlessly.

And this will go on FOREVER, right?

(Sarcasm Alert)
Yep, just like housing prices will NEVER go down, the price of food and fuel will NEVER respond to the increasing money supply.

Even if the Fed increases the money supply exponentially;
Even if the Chinese stop buying treasury bonds;
Even if the Chinese (and everyone else in the world with more than a double digit IQ) start to DUMP dollars;
we will NEVER have hyperinflation.

But you are right about one thing.
Stock up on everything ASAP, cause these prices will NOT last.

The only place left to go it

The only place left to go it seems is outer space, but that is really only an option for billionaires(or friends of billionaires), who can build a spacecraft that can sustain life for millenia and head for the nearest star that has the best chance to have an inhabitable earth-like planet. They would have to be very careful who they took on the spaceship with them, imagine a cfr, bilderberg, shill for big pharma, monsanto supporter stealth mole getting on board and causing the same problems on board the spaceship that were problems here on earth.

This is the BIG SECRET

Our brothers and sisters from other worlds want us to come join them. That is why the governments of the world will not admit that aliens exist and are visiting earth. The governments know that the slave taxpayers would all leave earth and tell the government authorities to go to hell. That is why we are kept stupid and enslaved. Half the planet or more would immigrate to other worlds, if given the chance. This would be fatal to government tax revenues, and cheep labor pools for corporations, and the military would not have fools to fight their wars. It is the threat that aliens pose to the government, not to the people, that keeps the truth from the People.

I am just curious, if aliens

I am just curious, if aliens from other worlds want us earthlings to join them, then why don't they get the word out to the people directly? Why would they only talk with the governments and keep the average everyday people in the dark?

well because if they did

well because if they did that, the problem would be solved, and people could not post about the conspiracy of the government preventing us from knowing about how the aliens want us to come visit.

and the aliens certainly don't want to deprive people of a good post.

True

It is easier to just run away from something than it is to fight for it.

I can't wait for AmeriKa to end and restore America!

Bring it on!

Come to Texas.

Texas is strong. It will survive. It is the only large population state that will stand a chance when the hyperinflation wave hits, all hell breaks loose, and the survivalist lifestyle becomes future reality.

Warm winds blowing
Heating blue sky
And a road that goes forever

Been thinking 'bout it lately
Been watching some tv
Been looking all around me
At what has come to be
Been talking to my neighbour
And he agrees with me
It's all gone crazy

Well my wife returns from taking
My little girl to school
She's got beads of perspiration
As she tries to keep her cool
She says that mess it don't get no better
There's gonna come a day
Someone's gonna get killed out there
And I turn to her and say texas
She says what ?
I said texas
She says what ?
They've got big long road out there

Warm winds blowing
Heating blue sky
And a road that goes forever
I'm going to texas

We got to get out of here
We got to get out of here

Well I got a little brother
Several meters high
Yea his built just like a quarterback
And he swears he'll testify
He says he's been to texas
And that's the only place to be
Big steaks, big girls, no trouble there
That's the place for me

I'm going to texas
I'm going to texas
Watch me walking
Watch me walking

I've seriously thought about Texas

only problem I haven't read up much on their gun laws. I've heard not so good, but haven't had the time to verify if they are as restrictive as I have heard. I hate AZ, too much violence and way too many police. I have land in NM that I had hoped to go to but that state is being ruined like just everywhere else. Guess I need to study up on TX. I've heard it is very beautiful in some places. Right now I'm almost to the point of just wanting God to call me home and spare me from the hell on earth I see coming.

We think Hawaii will be first

The US Government won't let Texas go because of the oil.

Hawaii will be first because...
Most Hawaiians don't feel like they are a part of the U.S. anyway. There has been a Hawaiian sovereignity movement since they were still considered a territory. Geographically they are already the furthest removed from the rest of the country so it is only natural for them to be the first to jump off of the sinking ship. Even when you see the proposed maps of the "North American Union" Hawaii is mysteriously absent.

When it comes to survival consider this: On Hawaii people are already used to living without many of the modern "conveniences" that mainlanders take for granted. Most people don't even have air conditioning. (the climate is temperate enough to live without it) There is plenty of rain so water shortages are not a problem. There is enough food that grows year-round to more than feed the population, including 175,000 acre Parker Ranch, which is one of the largest cattle ranches in the US and is located on the big island. There are probably more off-grid homes on Hawaii than in any other state. People there are used to bartering with their neighbors and taking care of themselves and each other and making due with what they have available. Land is VERY reasonably priced too, (like 3 acres for $20,000)

When it comes to pandemics or other forms of governmental population control and/or manipulation I doubt the 115,000 people living on the big island of Hawaii are hardly even considered worth the trouble. The island of Oahu is the most populated. Since their population already consists of over 50% Asian (mostly Japanese) Hawaii might be traded to China or Japan to cover debts.(But according to other things I have read so could California) That would be the biggest drawback I can see.

Texas will be going...

The US Government won't let Texas go because of the oil.

The government won't have any choice in the matter. Once states start seceding, there isn't anything they will be able to do to stop them. It's not 1861 anymore.

I agree that Hawaii is another major secession prospect...although I'm not sure I'd want the sort of far-Left-wing government that springs up in its place.

We've been saying this here in CT

Texas will be the first to revolt. It will be the first FREE state in the union.......would love to go.

Colchester, New London County, Connecticut

It may not be the first.

My gut says Montana will be the first.

But I think Texas will be the biggest and most populous. And the most powerful republic. I can see a future where people from all over North America come to Texas as refugees.

I was going to leave...

I was so going to leave about a year ago. I knew the day of reckoning of the U.S. was comming and there would be blood in the streets when many experience hunger for the first time. My rationale for leaving so soon was "better a few years too early than a day too late". It only takes one event, one day, another 911, to really push us in the dumspter. I think we are going to have to deal with ourselves, our neighbors, and even neighborhoods rising up to bloodshed before our own military or even foreighn troops get involved. It's my opinion that they (PTB) are going to let us do their dirty work of reducing the populatioon and reducing our ammo reserves before they come in.

So, why did I stay if I'm personally so pesimistic (or maybe realistic) about how bad it is going to get? I decided to stick it out here no matter how ugly it gets and do my small part in building society after the principals of the Constitution. My library is loaded with good materials about the Constitution and the forces that go against it (i.e. Secret Combination, Greedy Cartels/Monopolies, NWO). I'm also loaded with books and materials to go back to the basics (i.e. Garden Growing, Weaving, and other manufacturing). I have my heirloom seeds and I have stored grains. All this that I may help my neighbors survive and find conviction in the rule of law based on eternal truths: The U.S. Constitution in the tradition of the Founders.

I have been in prepardness for a few years now and it has pleased me to see so many people on the Ron Paul forums preparing temporally and mentally for what is to come. I guess in a way we have our reward for supporting the only canidate worthy of presidency; we have received much insight from the good Dr. of what will happen if we fail to return to sound principals.

If you are going to get out then I recommend you do it quick. I've personally been to Uruguay and the people, the enviromnent, and even their government are really good. Immigration from America is simple as well.

Equador and Peru are good places to live. Especially since one can partake of the Ayahuasca and Huachuma ceremonies. That'll open your eyes in a new and deeply spiritual way.

As for me, I saw the writing on the wall last October and moved to an island in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas. These are U.S. territories, but there is a certain autonomy within the local government. These islands are, or can be, self-sufficient, and a U.S. flag flies over the post office. The U.S. dollar is the local currency. But we are far, far from Mainstream America. It's more like Asia here and I love it.

Remaining in the continental U.S. was not an option for me. I knew things would get bad, and they have. And they will get worse in the next year or so. They may get bad here also, but at least island life has a lot going for it.

I salute you, for having the wisdom to get out while you could. Millions will suffer and languish in the years to come. Too bad. The U.S. used to be a fine country. No more.

Employment

What kind of job opportunities are there in the Marianas? Also, how would you rate the cost of living?

When I was there costs were

When I was there costs were similar to US - but on a small island you won't drive as much so save a little there.

I hung out awhile in Saipan,

I hung out awhile in Saipan, even visited Tinian and Rota (not much there). Saipan I loved. But it and Guam are relatively little and lots of people. Not sure if the Chamoros will keep the welcome mat out when the SHTF. Spent a lot of years in the FSM but they too are crowded islands and totally dependant on US aid money. When the US money runs out I wouldn't want to be there. They'll go back to the clamshell age. Now been on a small farm in Australia the last 10 years. Bleak future here too but I think US is worse. If China comes back buying resources it'll be better than the US - if their socialist politicians don't strangle the recovery baby.
