While I agree...
...that FDA should NOT regulate vitamins I think it is important for everyone to KNOW that vitamins DO NOT help your health. Scientific study after scientific study reveal that vitamins play NO effect on your health and in some cases may HARM you by supplying too much of certain things.
I've found
that high quality brands can have a profound effect on one's health. I only take professional brands available through a licensed chiropractor or naturopath. They're a far cry from the over the counter brands.

While you can take too much of some vitamins, like the fat soluble ones, Vitamans C, B, and E are water soluble and you can't 'od' on them.
I beg to differ with your comment that 'vitamins do not help your health'. It took the medical establishment how many CENTURIES to finally admit that Scurvy is caused by Vitamin C deficiency?

Yeah, and notice how they didn't need to do a double blind placebo study published in a major medical journal to get the point across that injesting C prevents and reverses scurvy. If it were discovered today, the medical industry wouldn't act on it.
i agree.
some of the only good medicinal practices are carried out with the use of natural vitamins and dietary supplements. there are problems with most vitamins. most are made of rocks or have tons of iron in them. you can't digest them that way. you have to get something plant based and all natural.
i think it might be an economic stimulus for a lot of doctors to come to their senses about both sides and start prescribing homeopathic medicine as well. when an elderly person with dementia takes xanax every day to sleep, eventually their body needs more and more as a result. if they take valerian in place, it's healthy, easily digested. you don't have to take more and more of it. and it helps you rest without making you groggy the next day. there are tons of natural medicines and vitamins out there that are effective.

There is mountains of valid, peer reviewed double-blind, placebo controlled research that flys in the face of such a blanket statement.
And, it's about WAY more than just "vitamins", besides.
I believe this is being done because....
of treaties signed with the World Health Organization. They are using the FDA as cover, and acting like this is a new idea...... but in fact I think they had to come into compliance with their illegal agreements which were signed YEARS ago. Just took them a while to figure out the technique to get there. (Others may have more info on this, but this is the impression I have gotten over the past few years..... I have been stocking up for a couple of years due to things I had already read about.)
Same thing with the smoking laws, by the way. I think the SIGNED agreements with WHO forced action. Each country just gets to decide what lies they are going to tell the people and in what timeframe they can get things accomplished, so that the people don't find out that it was all agreed to LONG AGO. Let the people feel they have a part and a choice.... and then do what they were going to do anyway.

The consolidation in Pharmaceuticals is very worrying; Pfizer unveiled a $68 billion takeover of Wyeth in January and now we have two more takeovers each valued at over $40 billion. The power of "Big Pharma" has been amply demonstrated over the years including the ongoing global lobbying to outlaw those products that really do provide healing and preventative benefits, natural supplements, extracts and herbs; and the burying of evidence that Big Pharma is one of the major killers in western society. In the US, about one million people die each year due to harmful drugs manufactured and sold by these already extremely powerful companies

Be a Johnny Appleseed and try to germinate any and every form of nutritional weed or plant in every open space of grass (though I know most is now pavement) you come across. They have tried and tried to kill dandelions but they won't go away-- and of course they are one of the most nutritional plants.
