State official apologizes for militia report

The director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety has ordered certain portions of a controversial intelligence report excised after widespread backlash from the public.
In a letter dated March 23, Public Safety Director John Britt told third-party presidential candidates U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party and Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party that he was ordering the “Modern Militia Movement” report altered to delete their names and the names of their political parties as possible indicators of militia involvement.
The report was disseminated last month by the Missouri Information Analysis Center, a Jefferson City-based “fusion center” where information on terrorist threats and other dangers is shared between federal and local law enforcement agencies.
Among other things, the report advised Missouri law enforcement officers that militia members “most commonly associate with third-party political groups” and support presidential candidates such as Paul, Baldwin and Barr.
The inclusion led members of these parties to fear they would be profiled by police based on political bumper stickers or other paraphernalia.
Britt, who oversees MIAC, writes: “Portions of the report may be easily construed by readers as offensive to supporters of certain political candidates or to those candidates themselves. I regret those components were ultimately included in the final report issued by MIAC.”
Britt also wrote that any characterization of the three presidential candidates or their parties as possible militia members was “an undesired and unwarranted outcome.”

are only sorry the report got leaked. When all is said and done, the whole thing will be kept intact, but under fancier lock and key, and the training will go on as planned. The only change that might happen to their training manuals if for them to get even worse.
This is sorta like, "Jury, please disregard that last remark."

Is this a great country, or what?
The main thing is that we continue to remind our officials who the bosses are. Neither side should be afraid of what the other says and each should be able to speak.
However, it's true that our officials have a duty to us not to abuse their power, or spend our money, against any of us.

So what does this mean?
This basically means that they still have told all law enforcement officers that "it is a pig, but we just aren't calling it a pig anymore." The damage is done. The profiling will go on in the way intended. They aren't sorry for putting out this information. They're only sorry that so much backlash happened and they were not allowed to go forward with their plans unnoticed.
I for one, will continue to go through Missouri with my Ron Paul and constitution, police state bumper stickers on my vehicle. I'm no terrorist. I seek no harm to anyone, and I'm sick of them thinking anyone who is tired of how govt is out of control, wants to go kill women and children for some political statement. That's what terrorists do. I don't know a single person alive, regardless how "radical" their political views, that would ever even consider doing something like that.
I love my country, not my govt. But I'm no damn terrorist.

And in fact, I would like to offer a reward ($$) to anyone who can write a biting counter-report which similarly outlines leftwing terrorists, specifically mentioning people like Jesse Jackson, Charles Rangel, Maxine Waters, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Geithner, Daschle, William Ayers, and any followers of O as being 'dangerous terrorists' and a danger to freedom... and to beware because they are coming to a neighborhood soon.

I think the movement is at a critical turning point now. We need to abandon the milquetoast approach. These public servants do not have the legal authority to treat groups like this for exercising their First Amendment rights.
We need to start playing political hardball, and that includes lawsuits, protests, and lots of other annoying things.
We also need to create our own news media. Somebody in the Press has to watch our backs.

That's a good "first step".
Now they can remove all the profiling information on all the other groups and people that they tarred and slandered with that report.
The facts remain that NO people are to be profiled and "assumed" to be "terrorists".
People are innocent until proven guilty.
This whole project revolves around "thought crimes", and it needs to be thoroughly and completely expelled from ALL law enforcement activity.
This kind of labeling of innocent people, based on what they think, is the work of tyrants.
Now the question needs to be raised:
IF IT'S WRONG TO PROFILE ONE GROUP, WHY IS IT STILL OK WITH THEM TO PROFILE OTHERS?
They need to see the totally unsupportable nature of their position.
