Wanted: Taxpayers With Gripes for IRS

If you’re one of many taxpayers who has a gripe with the Internal Revenue Service, the government has a job for you.

The catch? You won’t get paid and need to be willing to give up 500 hours of free time each year for the next three years. Oh, and you need to be current with all of your tax obligations (so Timothy Geithner and Tom Daschle need not apply).

I just might apply and tell them that providing a citation of the law that makes ordinary working people liable for the federal income tax is the best way to quell the so-called tax protestor complaints that there is no law. And, in fact, if the IRS cannot provide such a citation, perhaps a formal statement that the tax is voluntary, as is the current state of military enlistment, they still might be able to make their quota.
