I quit the Republican Party last night.
My mother is up for RE election this coming October for town Council for the Republican party. So you would figure they would just run her again right?
WRONG!
Instead they put up 5 candidates for the elected officials and party members to vote on. One guy at the last minute.
SHE LOST!
There were two spots to be filled. The one guy was the campaign manager for our other two victories. We won in 2007 with my mom and two others and then again in 2008 with two new candidates.
To say the least my mother and I have given much to the Republicans in Eatontown, NJ. Before she won the democrats had controlled the town for over ten years.
Now that the republicans have control they are throwing my mother out!
The entire meeting yesterday where we voted was a complete scam. People showed up that I had never seen before and the people that I knew couldn't even look me in the face. When the vote was revealed I just got up, looked at the campaign manager and said, "you just committed political suicide." then I went over to the party chair and said, "I quit" Then, me and mom bounced.
The one guy they voted to run has NEVER been to to a republican meeting. NEVER handed out one flyer. NEVER done a thing!

Of course, my mother was quite sad. She had already been through so much it made me sad as well. She broke her leg last summer, lost her job, lost her mother (grandma) and is on the verge of loosing her house. Now they do this. We both couldn't sleep last night. Many fellow Republicans that were not there are quite pissed off to say the least. We have to figure out what we are going to do from here.

My Republican neighbor has political aspirations. A business owner and on the school board. He has just landed a cushy admin appointment on a governmental body locally. IMO he is not a stand-up politician, but rather a loyal insider trying to suck up. To hear him talk about the military you would think he was a war veteran. Not. He even displays a "Mothers Blue Star" in his window like he has child serving in our military; actually, it is his son-in-law, a bit of a stretch don't you think ? But that's what politicians do, stretch the truth. He should do well, I would not.

That looks like a pretty glum résumé, making you wonder how he ever made it to the top. But when you really think of it, to run for office or high positions so many times, you have to have something on the ball and have more successes than meet the eye.

I want some answers. I don't see how this can stop her from running and winning. No one should just expect re-election, but no one who really cares will accept this as defeat.

I can contact the Libertarian or Constitution Party as well. Don't forget that.

Why do you need a party? I'm telling you, this is the year to dissociate from partys altogether. Besides, parties have no place in muncipal politics. Your mom has name recognition and a (hopefully good) track record to run on. A pat designation should be meaningless. If her rejection by the party upset a few folks, you have motivated canvassers! This is an opportunity for her to move on to the state or county level where the backbiting is a bit less painful.

It could be a good year to run independent and by the time I am done with them they will look like absolute shiite. I have the ability and talent to make them very uncomfortable.. I also have a contact at the press that will write me up a good article.
I'm going to type up a press release in a few days and distribute it. This will be PR nightmare for them.
I can't give a way too much of what I will do to them. But know this... it will be done.
She is the elected official. Not the Republican party. She is still the incumbent. They could have chosen the right route. But they chose incorrectly and now will pay for it by loosing elections.
I am a weapon of mass propoganda when need be.

So sorry to hear it, I felt
So sorry to hear it, I felt so discouraged last fall, after getting more active and going with 2 other family members to the state convention as delegates. The convention itself was discouraging, because it seemed like no matter how much our folk worked, it seemed like all of us who were standing up for true freedom were stifled, and ignored. But the thing that really did it for me was watching the RNC-I felt like it was a funeral, and I truly mourned as I would have for a close loved one. Thankfully there are still a few willing to stand in the republican party, but most seem to think its all a big game, instead of making a stand for what is right and lawful.
Ok. That sucks.but................they can only defeat you if
you allow them to. There must be another avenue that you are supposed to follow now. That is the way things work; one door closes and another one opens. Look for it. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
