HR 1207 / S604 Fax Bomb! Flier Version 2
Submitted by Michael Nystrom on Tue, 03/24/2009 - 21:37
A big thanks to Jive Dadson for his constructive criticism and ideas, and for completely rewriting the copy for the second version of the fax bomb flier. Here's the second version. I have to admit, it is much better. The fax bomb is set for this Friday After overnight comments, I'll have a .pdf version tomorrow.

What do you think, Jive?

Both fliers are posted there, with updates and a link to the great letter.
Looking forward to Friday!
Did you get that haircut, Jive?
Regrettably, no hair cut.
Regrettably, no hair cut. And tomorrow will be all messed up with doctors appointments. I'll do the video late tomorrow. Give me some links describing what's happening. I need the facts. I won't endorse anything that would antagonize the people we are trying to sway, so I need to know what's up. Due dilligence, and all that. But I will definitely push hard for contacting congress.
P.s. I think you were right that "duty" could use a modifier. But it's no big deal. I still haven't thought of anything better than "proper," and that's a rather weak word. It's good that we are now down to discussing such minutia. That means it's probably in pretty good shape.
It looks great Michael.
It looks great Michael. Thanks for your hard work on this.

Is there
an easy way to send a blanket email to the House?
Answers
This is supposed to be a faxbomb, but you are free to email and phone call if you'd like too. Also, we don't have a fax service purchased, which might be a good thing b/c they could just block our one fax number if they feel spammed. Every person can send at least 2 faxes for free per day with www.faxzero.com. If you are feeling especially patriotic, you can get a free one month trial for www.onefax.com and fax them as much as you want when the time comes!
Huzzah!
Thank you for providing
Thank you for providing those fax services. I was wondering how I was going to do this tomorrow. The RP people are so together and organized. Many thanks again! Shelley

If we don't have access to a fax machine,
could it be emailed?
Proposed change
I don't think you should use the acronyms "FOIA" and "GAO"; I don't think the public knows what they mean.
I did a quick check of a few (regular -- read misinformed) friends and found that NONE knew the definition of the terms.
You are, after all, targeting other uninformed persons.
Just a thought.
Thanks!

It is aimed at members of
It is aimed at members of Congress.
Hopefully they know what it means.
Or we're in big trouble!

And I continue to maintain it's critically important to be clear, hence concrete regarding what we're talking about in first place. But it looks like "band-wagon" effect is taking Mike Nystrom away. But let me once more propose slight re-writing, with same basic insertion I proposed below.
Thus, after quote fm Kennedy and picture, first paragraph should be shortened to--
"Fed creates and controls money, yet is exempt from FOIA. GAO is barred from auditing Fed. Without transparency, Congress cannot do oversight."
Next, my suggested insertion which accurately characterizes exact identity of Fed:
"For there's huge problem for "creation and controlling" money; it has to do with COUNTERFEITING nature and consequences, necessarily inflationary, potentially deceptive, and effectively fraudulent as it devalues people's money."
Continue then with same, "Your constituents...." Honest elections and death to the Fed. Apollonian
Am I the only one who didn't
Am I the only one who didn't readily know what GAO was? Will the rest of congress know what the FOIA and GAO are?
As anybody been able to get
As anybody been able to get close enough to Ron Paul to ask him to explain the difference between a state Citizen (the one who has full guarantees by the Constitution for the United States of America that their God-given inalienable rights are protected), represented by the Original definition in the website link below and born and living in one of the many states of the Union and a U.S. citizen (the one who is a statutory citizen who has guarantees by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution that their man-given privileges and immunities are protected - AND DIRECTED - by acts of Congress), represented by the Corporate definition in the website link below and born or naturalized and RESIDING in D.C. and the States (notice the capital letter and it's not the states you are thinking of), Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands and any federal territory.
Perhaps someone from his office reads this website and will explain this - and the implications - to us.
Here is a succinct explanation of the "two Americas" wherein two types of citizens are present. http://usa-the-republic.com/items%20of%20interest/US%20v%20U...
Pay close attention to the use of capital letters and words that have multiple definitions. The government and IRS use legal definitions while we all usually - save the sharky lawyers - use common everyday dictionary definitions (this could be detrimental to your freedom).
When going to a gunfight, never show up with a knife.
Good luck my fellow freedom seekers. The brightness of truth can be very painful to the eyes but awaken we must for the beast is all around us, it is the government.
Edit: People don't believe it but when you realize by doing a simple web search that our own corporate "Social Security" program is hooked up with one in the U.K. (the queen signs our Social Security acts - do a search of "social security act" queen of England and see what comes up and a couple years ago the link was open to the royal family's website but I haven't found it lately).
WOW!!!! LOL LOVE IT!!!
This is so exciting.
WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

looks good
i agree that you probably shouldnt use critically and critical in the next sentence (dont worry i had to edit a post of mine because i started two paragraphs with the exact same sentence haha)
maybe there is no need for an adjective in place of critical. does 'without transparency, congress cannot fulfill its duty of oversight' lack the umph? it seems we often place adjectives in sentences when they are not needed (im also very blunt and no stellar writer)
looks good as is though, but i would recommend changing 'critically' or 'critical'
also, thanks michael - i love the DP
I agree
"duty" is enough...sometimes less is more and in this case I think it is.
All duties of Congress are critical...but then they shouldn't have so many, should they? Just a few, so they can do a good job, and leave the rest to the States, or to the People.
My 2 cents
Things like this need to be extremely short and to the point with the attention grabber at the top. Keep it simple. Keep it simple. Here is my opinion on the order of the flier from top to bottom: 1. What is the fed doing with our money? (leave out "Your constituents want to know" ) 2. picture 3. Simplify the text body with "The Federal Reserve System creates and controls the people's money, yet it is exempt from FOIA requests and GAO audits. Without transparency of the Fed, Congress cannot fulfill its critical duty of oversight. 4. Support HR1207/S604 The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 Please cosponsor this bill 5. the Kennedy quote

Looks great!
I'm off to some other blogs to let em know about this.
Ordered a hundred post cards of the first version
Now I have to figure out who should get one.
Watch out for "echos"
There's a tendency to use words that were used recently, or that sound like words used recently. Some book about writing that I read called them "echos." (Stein on Writing"?) The writer initially does not hear the echo, but the reader does. I am very prone to echos, which is why I'll "sleep on it," if I have the time. The echo here is "critical" echoing "critically." Let's replace "critical" with a word that has a nobler connotation. (The purpose of the sentence is to appeal to the congress critter's nobler side, while subliminally appealing [echo] to his need to control people and feel important.)
Get out your thesaurus. I came up with "ethical" and "proper." Can you do better?
Jive - you're right. My
Jive - you're right. My fault - I slipped the adjective in there. It felt like it needed one. I like 'proper,' but it is your call.
I'm going to hit the sack. I'll catch the rest of the comments in the morn.
Proper is good
"Beneficial"? I guess "fiduciary" is right out.
I can't think of anything better than "proper."
Don't feel bad. I am the
Don't feel bad. I am the world's worst echoer. And it could use a modifier. The way I wrote it, it kind of went BUMP at the end, and didn't fully convey the theme of honor and service.
Sleep well, and thank you for your unflagging work. (Was that a pun? An echo? Maybe I should hit the sack also.)
Hey!
Did you just fix the flagpole problem? Wasn't the pole originally superimposed on the word repugnant? Now repugnant is superimposed on the pole! Or am I seeing things?
Anyway, now it's fine....it looks totally awesome.
Yeah, I fixed it. Thank
Yeah, I fixed it. Thank Jive.
Thank you, Jive
This will look great framed on my "Ron Paul" wall ... even better in the halls and offices of the House and Senate during this coming Friday's FAX BOMB!
