What book should I recommend to my friend who wants to know about U.S. history?

This friend is not a reader and is not awake yet. She wants to know about the real U.S. history so I want to give her a real page turner. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

"The Story of Liberty"
"Sweet Land of Liberty"
"The Boys of '76"
All by Charles C. Coffin

I could not put these down after I started them. I then purchased them by volume and handed them out to people I knew.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand.
And those who have not heard shall understand.

This may be posted already, didn't scroll all the way down....

5000 Year Leap, hands down. I don't agree with starting them out on all the "conspiracy theory" stuff although I think your friend eventually should get there, but the 5000 Yr Leap is an easy read, dead on and will explain what and why our Founders secured for us. It looks at 5000 years of tyrannical governments.

This is going to sound strange, but you know when a single girl meets a married man/committed boyfriend who is the real deal, a great catch.... She'll say something like, man do you have a brother? She wants something she has neve had. That is this book, it introduces you to a system that you can see for yourself no longer exists, without anyone shoving it down your throat. It was like a liberty romance novel for me...

"The Creature of Jekyll Island" by G. Edward Griffin.

It tells the history of the Federal Reserve Bank.

Money masters

Well researched and after your friend has watched they can read what they want and see what is true and what isn't.

Descent Into Slavery

In a book that has been described as "devastating," "magnificent" and "superbly documented" by readers on three continents, Des Griffin zeros in on the International Bankers and presents, in carefully documented detail, the story of their involvement in the Illuminati plot to create a totalitarian One-World government.

No punches are pulled by the author as he presents startling documentation and brings his readers face-to-face with the raw realities of power politics. Here, at last, is the full, true story of the power-crazed Internationalists and the methods they employ in steering all nations towards total social and financial ruin in preparation for their ultimate absorption into the planned worldwide dictatorship. The inside story of World War II is truly eye-opening!

Updated in 1994, chapter 17 covers Bill Clinton, Al Gore and the New World Order.

Des Griffin lays bare the hideous tragedy that lies ahead for the United States unless our people shake off the shackles of the conspirators and return to individual responsibility and fiscal sanity.

This is one book you can't afford to miss!

A carefully documented and detailed story of the International Bankers and their involvement in the Illuminati plot to create a totalitarian One World Government.

Excerpts:

PLAN OF DESTRUCTION

In the years following independence, a close business relationship had developed between the cotton growing aristocracy in the South and the cotton manufacturers in England. The European Bankers had decided that this business connection was America's Achilles Heel, the door through which the young American Republic could be successfully attacked and overcome.

The 'Illustrated University History', 1878, p. 504, tells us that the southern states swarmed with British agents. These conspired with local politicians to work against the best interests of the United States. Their carefully sown and nurtured propaganda developed into open rebellion and resulted in the secession of South Carolina on December 29, 1860. Within weeks another six states jointed the conspiracy against the union, and broke away to form the Confederate States of America, with Jefferson Davis as President.

'BAND OF EXTRAORDINARY PERSONALITIES'

As the situation continued to deteriorate, the Illuminati/international banker cabal was making careful preparations for its final assault on the nation which had, in the past, proved to be a fly in the ointment as far as its plans for world conquest were concerned.

In New York, Leon Trotsky, who had arrived in the United States on January 13 by a circuitous route to avoid detection by European authorities, applied himself with fiendish diligence to assembling what Winston Churchill later described as a 'band of extraordinary personalities.' These formed the nucleus around which the political leadership of the planned revolution was built.

Although he had no visible means of support, Trotsky lived in a fashionable apartment and rode around in a chauffer-driven limousine. He was frequently seen entering the palatial residence of Jacob Schiff, the Rothschild agent who, some forty years earlier, had taken over control of Kuhn, Loeb and Company, the international banking house, on behalf of his European masters.

Reviews:

'In American scholarship, one figure towers above all the others: Des Griffin. Reading Descent into Slavery - I quickly became fascinated not only by Mr. Griffin's results but by the method of research by which he reached these results....

'I subjected Mr. Griffin's method of research and published results to the most meticulous academic scrutiny, testing their validity from every conceivable angle: his assumptions, deductions, and conclusions. Here, I concluded, is a man with a precise, well-honed narrative and a broad perspective, a man with deep insight into military governmental strategy, who can gather and assess evidence, discriminating unerringly between what is valid and what has been manufactured to manipulate the patriot or electorate; a man full of compassion for his subject - humanity - caught ... between the ever recurring patterns of history and what has been carefully plotted for the future. It is for these reasons that I recommend Mr. Griffin's work' - Professor Robert O'Driscoll, University of Toronto, 13 September 1992.

Another good one

is Recarving Rushmore by Ivan Eland. It takes a look at all of the Presidents and ranks them based on peace, prosperity, and liberty. It challenges the traditional thoughts of which presidents were the best...and worst.

And there's always Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt. Great book!

Not to be daunted by the failure of the League of Nations, this same high level, money clique decided to keep the "One-World" concept alive for self-serving reasons, and promptly planned for a new vehicle, aided by plenty of spade-work in advance, that looked ahead twenty-five years or so to successfully trap the American people.
In order to make certain that there would be no possible slip this time, an organization was created by them called The Council On Foreign Relations (C.F.R.), to carefully train men for various areas of operation and to suitably mold their ideological, political, financial, military, and educational objectives. In London, England, there was also created a Counterpart called The Royal Institute of International Affairs. The World phase of these two groups is known as The Bilderbergers, headed by H.R.H. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Its headquarters are often in Holland.
The first important financial donation to the C.F.R., and there had to be a first one, of course, was made by one of the Rockefeller Family Foundations, in 1919. Since then, there have been other donations of size. President Wilson's advisor, Col. House, initially "fronted" the new C.F.R.-U.N. promotion for the Internationalists, with Mr. Baruch and Mr. Frankfurter looking over his shoulder.
Let us examine the background of what is inaccurately but opportunistically termed One-World
Government, fostered in the U.S.A. by the C.F.R. and one of its main off-shoots, the United Nations. Perhaps, the term One-Group Government would far better define their real objectives.
For a long time I felt that FDR had developed many thoughts and ideas that were his own to benefit this country, the United States. But, he didn't. Most of his thoughts, his political ammunition, as it were, were carefully manufactured for him in advanced by the Council on Foreign Relations-One World Money group. Brilliantly, with great gusto, like a fine piece of artillery, he exploded that prepared "ammunition" in the middle of an unsuspecting target, the American people, and thus paid off and returned his internationalist political support.
"The UN is but a long-range, international banking apparatus clearly set up for financial and economic profit by a small group of powerful One-World revolutionaries, hungry for profit and power.
"The depression was the calculated 'shearing' of the public by the World Money powers, triggered by the planned sudden shortage of supply of call money in the New York money market....The One World Government leaders and their ever close bankers have now acquired full control of the money and credit machinery of the U.S. via the creation of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank.- Curtis Dall, FDR's son-in-law as quoted in his book, My Exploited Father-in-Law

You should really start with the videos others have suggested

Giving a non-reader a really good book is like giving a non-drinker a really good bottle of wine---it's not likely to get much attention.

I am just in the middle of the biography of 'John Adams'.

It is all based upon the thorough research of David McCullough, pulitzer prize winner. Based on thousands of letters and documents, he has fleshed out these amazing characters that come alive as we seem to witness what took place before, during and after the revolution.

I would highly recommend this book in itself, an archive. There is also the 7 part episodes on PBS that can be bought or rented.

Here is the music. Awesome.

Good book

It was a little difficult for me to catch the rhythm and style that it was written in but very well researched.

Also anything by Eustice Mullins - Mullins is the man!

HIghly recommended for all....

I realize it only covers a brief period but it captures the spirit of the time.

None Dare Call it Conspiracy

and Say "No" to the New World Order, both by the late Gary Allen. Very easy, but good reads, that give a decent history of the events that have shaped the world in which we are now living...Published in 1971 and 1987 respectively (I think), when read today, they tell a chilling tale. Much of what the author discusses has come to fruition since published...

Tell him to read '1984' if

Tell him to read '1984' if he wants to know the future.

:-)

the 2 books that did it for me were

A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn
and of course The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin

The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History

by Thomas E. Woods Jr.

Second on that

I really enjoyed this one. I think it is the best single book to start with.

First read...

"Crisis" by Thomas Paine, then follow up with "Common Sense" by Paine as well.
