How would you feel if, in order to obtain federal loans for college, you had to do national service?

Maybe not too bad, eh?

How would you feel if, in order to obtain federal loans for college, you had to do national service AND were prohibited from engaging in anything religious (including attending church).

I suspect this idea sounds like an outrage to many reading this article. It does to me.

I heard rumors that Obama’s plan (HR 1388) to require national service in order to receive federal student loans, included a ban on religious activity. I had a hard time believing this was true. However, upon further investigation, it appears that House Resolution 1388 includes this ban on religious activity!

Stop with the 'rumors'....

We have enough to actually worry about. Don't start making stuff up just for conversation's sake.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

What part of "congress shall make no law..." are they missing?

There should be no religious test for ANY participation in government programs. This is amazing - will the masses rise up?

It can't be...can it?

It can't be...can it?

Government programs

Government programs (socialism, fascism) are the antithesis of self-regulation, self-responsibility.

If someone were a true man of God he would not involve himself in government affairs, benefits and handouts. The government is the beast we've been warned about and truth be told, if you're a U.S. citizen (versus Constitutional state Citizen), you're owned by the government as if a subject, just like jolly ole England.

The Constitution for the United States of America doesn't apply in toto for U.S. citizens. Do research and find out why.

Digg :o) hope this helps!!

:-)

Talk about stripping people

of their rights. The government is poison.

If you don't like it, pay

If you don't like it, pay your own way through college, or apply for private grants that would cover some of your expenses. I was fortunate to qualify for a little bit of grant money when I went to school. There is a lot out there just waiting for students to access and a lot of it is free. Take advantage of it when it makes sense, and if it is not possible to cover all expenses with private funds, then get a job or get a student loan and PAY it back.

But think about this:

If there is a carrot dangling at the end of the stick - is it truly volunteering?
The incentive to volunteer is a heart matter...any incentive added is no longer volunteering.

Fine, work your way through college with government assistance...just know who you are beholding to...kinda like the GI bill.

Serve in the military and we will pay your way through college.

This bill should have NOTHING to do with volunteering. The section exploring the option to make this mandatory is a flagrant oxymoron. We need to question that contradiction.

This bill has other intentions...

“The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.” Ron Paul - The Revolution

Even when you volunteer,

Even when you volunteer, there is always a cost associated with the decision, whether it be monetary or psychological or familial... any act may result in unforeseeable reactions, positive or negative.

I think you are right.

This bill has long and complex implications for the future of freedom.

Sure that is an option...

hopefully many people take it. However this is still wrong and ridiculous.

Didn't Obama clam to be a christian?

He's true colors are showing.
James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

I'd rather

I'd rather we had a freedom-minded atheist than a socialist Christian.

not surprising

This is absurd. The thing is you can forbid God given rights all you want. God's people will obey God and not man.

Acts 5:29

But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.

:-)

I broke it down a little on my website.

Do y'all think this bill is as sinister as it sounds? I hope not.

Yes
