The military-industrial complex did it not? I thought the internet was developed by the pentagon so that computers could communicate after a nuclear war.

Socialism originally meant workers control of the means of production, I don't think there is any place on earth that has anything like that.

Using these two terms as they have become essentially meaningless. Political language by and large has been turned into a tool for sucking people's brains out.

in the strictest technical sense, we are not socialist. socialism means the state allocates and redistributes wealth to each according to his need and from each according to his abilities for the purposes of attaining economic equality.

our system allocates and redistributes wealth for the purposes of keeping the fat cats fat. the only similarity is the government intervening in the economy.

the only reason we are not bona fide de jure socialists within the strictest definition can be summed up in two words: RAMPANT CORRUPTION.

even in soviet russia they never had true socialism or communism. it was more of an oligarchy (the party) living it up high on the hog while the poor bastards at the bottom (the people) did all the toiling to support them.

communism and socialism are pipe dreams. they ignore human nature and the need for incentive.

the chinese were smart. they saw the error in socialism and are slowly moving towards capitalism.

I find it very interesting that the Internet was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, an agency of the US Department of Defense. Interesting... and ironic that DARPA's invention has probably assisted in defending us from ourselves.
