Why I took my Ron Paul yard sign down
Submitted by JUSTCOMEHOME on Sat, 03/28/2009 - 06:25
I just recently decided to pull down and put away my Ron Paul yard sign for the following reason(s).
As the economy worsens people will get "bright ideas" about taking other people's resources for survival.
Word is out, or it will get out that Ron Paul supporters and Libertarian minded people are more than likely to have some gold/silver, guns and stashes of food.
I think it's best to not bring any undue attention that may invite trouble.
For these reasons, I put my yard sign away.

In the end, the sign doesn't matter
How you live your life may serve as an example to others. Discussions among friends or co-workers is the best way to get the message across, if you choose to go that route.
But a sign is just a sign; it carries little information except a name. But discussion, on the other hand, can be extremely helpful - especially now, when people are looking for answers and the government has none.
I don't hold any grudges agianst RP
But, I no longer believe in any politcian that preaches reforming a system of force. When that FORCE is the systems very lifeblood. All politicians work for the system and benefit from the success of the system. I would give RP more credit, if he was OUTSIDE the system and ralling against it. Not working and profiting from it, however, he was a stepping stone to were I am today. I know the truth because of him.
The thing is, part of Ron
The thing is, part of Ron Paul's credibility is his life long voting record. No one matches it. He returns part of his pay to the treasury. He doesn't participate in the congressional pension program. We can go on and on. His whole time in Congress is part of what makes him one in a million.

They also know we have GUNS too! I won't take my sign down.

Could also be a great deterrent ;o
keep them up, Spread the message! :)
The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!
sad, but true...
when the shtf people will be looking for answers and, as RP stated in St. Louis last night, we need to educate ourselves more every day to be able to provide those answers for them...
taking down your yard sign is probably a good thing based on the reasons you cited...i, too, believe that there are those out there "just driving by" that will soon come to understand what we have known for some time and they might not be as prepared as you and we know how people will act when their children are hungry...
i think you can be even more effective as someone with a "community" or "victory" garden and an answer to a question asked by those of your choosing rather than by those who see the sign and decide that they can "help themselves" to your good planning and preparation...
we do understand that we are all in this together and we will help but we, too, must ration our supplies for the long haul...
prepare...and then breathe

I don't see my sign as an
I don't see my sign as an election only sign but one of philosophy and liberty. Liberty unites. Obamania (communism) divides and destroys.
Liberty, in America, is a community effort and reality.
Signs Divide
Community gardens unite.
Locally grown food hits the elite where it hurts. Dancing the four-year Election Tune makes you look like a fool.
Neighbors of opposing political beliefs have more in common than distant believers of the same party.
True.
Locally grown food when possible. Not much meat any then only Kosher, Organic meat.

this is the tool..
Politics is foolishness and really trying to unplug people from the dark matrix who don't want to be unplugged and have a deep seated interest in maintaining control through force at all cost's.
People love their delusions.

Ron Paul who ?
Only we know who he is, most others have little or no idea. IMO, a sign now only marginalizes.
I found since Obama's coronation that low esteem paranoia works best for me, it makes me think that nobody important is out to get me.
Huh?

My 4' x 4' sign stays even though I may be surrounded by modern day Torrys now known as Obamanoids.
i think these are different times...
in that the chances are far greater that the masses of people today would just as soon take what is yours rather than support themselves...in paine's day the average person was more self supportive concerning food and the warmth of shelter while today the average person is not so self supportive concerning those things...
i do, however, think the premise of your argument is essentially correct...all i am suggesting is that i can do just as much good without inviting the torrys into my domain...
this is a narrow path and i do see both sides...a very good and healthy debate topic

I still have my 4x8 yard sign.
After the election was over, I moved and went from a Ron Paul for President sign to a Ron Paul Revolution sign. Lucky for me most of my neighbors are friends.

Ron Paul 08!
Yesterday we were at a business picking up an order. The forklift guy was very friendly and likeable. After loading, we closed the camper shell door exposing the "Ron Paul 08" and "We're Screwed 08" stickers. The jolly, likeable forklift guy said, "Alright, a Constitutionalist". Made my day. The stickers stay!
another reason to go undercover...
We quit talking politics, it makes people glaze over. Now we just talk about how neighbors will need to help neighbors get through whatever is headed for us economically.
My "Ron Paul" bumper stickers remain on my car for now, but I never open a conversation with anything political.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
