Tons still have never heard of RP/Our grassroots tactics are workingSubmitted by biles1234 on Thu, 11/22/2007 - 15:38
i am a college freshman and yesterday i took a flight from detroit to indianapolis for thanksgiving break.
on my backpack i have a ron paul button and walking through the airport terminal, two RP supporters (at different times) approached me and we had short exchanges, it was awesome!!
but more interesting, i boarded my flight and took my seat in between two young ladies who eventually told me they were graduate students (at different schools).
the one on my left noticed my button and asked me who ron paul was, saying that back at her college in florida there were bumper stickers and posters everywhere she looked but that she had never heard of him on TV or anything.
i explained to her who he was, his rising popularity, the media blackout, the nov. 5 moneybomb, his positions on the issues, etc...
the grad student on the right also had also seen the name ron paul, but did not know who he was. i thought this was especially surprising since i felt the college crowd would be pretty informed...
the girl on my left (ironically :-P) was a conservative and the girl on my right was a liberal. during the course of the 45 minute flight i told them about ron paul and they both sounded very interested and said they would research him. the conservative girl especially could not believe she had never seen him on TV and said several times, "this guy is absolutely ridiculous, i can't believe i've never heard of him!"
it feels good to know that our grassroots efforts are working and that we are getting his name out there, but we need to continue!! we have a whole boatload of untapped voters...all in all, it was a cool experience, it always feels great to educate fellow americans.
