Submitted by kidbquick on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 16:39
This is the debate Im stuck with at work, any choice retorts? this is his email to me= That's not true people like u think they know more than they really do thereby creating the illusion that you yourself and your measly income tax pays for the majority stake of these bail outs... When in fact you don't... Not only don't you but the very politicians working to keep your taxes at bay b/c let's face it you don't make over 250k and dont pay the majority of the taxes in this country u disagree with the politicians helping the little guy out... U got your head up your ass and don't even know it...

If your friend is in favor of tax increases, he won't have to
wait very long. I presume he's aware of the inflation tax? From the tone of his prose, he doesn't strike me as a person who's really all that interested in having a serious discussion.

well
If you're talking about income tax, explain the idea of property to him. he'll agree that his body is, in fact, his own body, it belongs to him... he is the one who suffers when he is careless with his body (if he sticks his arm in some machinery its gunna hurt him, not society, they don't feel your pain, so why give them control over your body?). and he'll agree that something accomplished by his body, no matter what he wants done with it after it is produced, is originally his toil.
If he wants to donate it to the gov't to redistribute to someone else thats his right, or he could just go walk around looking for someone who looks like they need the money earned by his time and sweat (which would probably be much more satisfying and effective); heck, he can burn the product or the money he gets for it, because its HIS. no one else can have a claim on your body, or toil (this is more commonly referred to as slavery)
so... if that is true, then how can the gov't tax his income (or for that matter choose his destiny by military draft). do they have some sort of higher claim on his life and labor than he himself?... In short, they have no right (as opposed to a "wrong"). You, the individual aren't making any agreements here; by being a citizen of the united States you are free, not subject. and you alone control your body. Thats what freedom is and sovereignty is, and you have to understand what freedom is before you really have it.
also, who cares what tax bracket you fall in, everyone pays the income tax, i make min wage and never see like 10% of my check.
If he wants to help others, keep the ten % and redistribute it wisely and locally to help your society,
I love calling them Keynesians too... the confused look is great...

They print money out of thin air...
the vermin don't need our taxes, they just do it to mess with our heads, and keep us poor! http://www.iamthewitness.com/books/Andrew.Carrington.Hitchco... Zoghor!
Cows think they are free, this is no bull, the beast must be Fed, with pitchfork instead
Cows think they are free, this is no bull, the beast must be Fed, with pitchfork instead
what he said...
"majority stake of these bail outs" is paid by the fed, which causes inflation, the most elusive robbery system ever invented. You can sit on your vault of $100 for your whole life, protecting it watchfully at all times with your trusty rifle and padlocked front door, bolted windows, moat (w/ gators), whole nine thousand yards... and all the Federal Reserve has to do is print a bunch of money and you and everyone else holding money are robbed.
The original 100 dollars is now much less...still looks like a hundred, feels like a hundred; you can count it...it is still one hundred... but it won't buy near as much, as the federal reserve's printing boosts prices. Of course, the Fed's excuse is "oh, well WE don't cause prices to rise; rising prices cause us to print!"... so what comes first Bernanke, the chicken or the egg?
I just hope your coworker doesn't say, "Phew well at least he didn't take it all!"

Two questions
First, ask him what should happen to people who don't pay their taxes. I'm so very sure you'll get a response which ends with something like "... and throw away the key." Then, ask where the government gets the right to take people's private property against their will. That might stun him for a few seconds and force his brain to briefly work.
Probably an o-bot
that thinks "great leader" can do no wrong. You'll have more luck debating a rock.

That's the only conclusion I come to after reading your post.

Before blowing him off,
be sure to inform him that none of the income taxes go to pay for bailouts. They go to pay the interest on the debt, and it is your grandchildren who will pay for the bailouts.

Very good. Got a chuckle out of me you did.
He can pay your increase
if he feels so strongly about it. You don't support all the new spending. He does, so he should man-up and take your share.

Think for yourself, question authority
Theft is morally wrong...
...It's a difference between right vs. wrong. When Force is used to remove rightful property, it is called theft. This doesn't change because of "popular demand" or "Income Status"..it's simply theft, and therefore can not be virtous.
Because you have to accept theft by Government Guns, does not mean that a larger theft is any more morally correct. Both types of Taxation on Time or Wages is theft of life and therefore an economic form of slavery. Because the burden of others chains are heavier than yours, does not change the fact that wrong is done to both parties by the Armed Hands of Government by popular demand.
I don't think anything you
I don't think anything you say to him will sink in. It would be like debating a 2 year old. Perhaps someday, something about liberty will hit him, and then he will come back and want to start a real conversation. Until then, I'd politely let it go.
Tell him that its obvious
Tell him that its obvious that our measly income tax doesn't pay for most of these bailouts- and that's one of the problems. That the government spends way more than they actually have. I don't even understand what his point is.
judge a book by its cover
particularly speaking, if the book's cover title and rear synopsis isn't even legible, then perhaps the words that fill the book arent even worth reading.
Seriously how can you debate anything he just said? im still still swimming through the sea of mangled grammar to find any semblance of a point being made here.
can someone try to translate this?
id really like to help argue, as i hear dumb shit coming from coworkers mouths all the time when it comes to the choice topics of politics or economics or any other word of interest that might end in 'ics'. Sadly ive also found that the debating side is so ill informed and emotionally invested that there isnt even a suitable starting point to begin debating.
Taxes are Theft.
What part of THEFT does he not understand?
If paying taxes is so cool try not paying them....
He is no friend.just a coworker
the funny thing is he works part time and his wife brings home the bacon.lol.so of course he expects a handout
well if he's so happy about tax increases..
tell him to pay yours
