Committees of Safety Presents: Rally at Lexington Green - 4/19/2009 - Video Simulcast

The rally will be simulcast by RTR Radio starting at 11:00 AM on 4/19/09.


In commemoration of the 'Shot Heard Round the World', April 19, 1775, Committees of Safety will present a free rally on the Historic Lexington Battle Green at high noon, Sunday April 19, 2009.

Full information at: Committees of Safety.org The organizers are looking to raise $5,000 to offset costs of this event. Please help support this event with a generous donation.

I spent Friday night printing posters. I'm doing a small run of about 30, with about 16 left for sale. I'm donating a portion of proceeds to the CoS. Buy one

Later that evening begins the reenactment of the Battle of Lexington, starting at 11:30pm with the midnight ride of Paul Revere. The actual reenactment of the battle takes place the following morning on the Green at 6:00am.

Dr Vieira is one of my heroes.
It's so simple to explain, it's like teaching kindergarten.
At least the way Dr.Vieira presents things.

Dr. Vieira from the state of Virgina, is the speaker answering questions, he is a Constitutional lawyer with several degrees,who has spent a good deal of his adult life studying the Constitution and Constitutional law,,,and in my opinion, could teach our standing President real Constitutional law. { sarcasm }

Even for many locals, the origin of Patriots’ Day – the anniversary of Paul Revere’s 1775 ride (“The British are coming, the British are coming”) and the battles of Lexington and Concord that started the American Revolution – has become obscured by the activities for which the day has become best known. That would be the running of the Boston Marathon and a morning baseball game played by the Red Sox, which allows for fans to flock after the game into Kenmore Square to catch the final mile of the 26-mile, 385-yard race.

Revere, immortalized by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem (“Listen my children and you shall hear, of the midnight ride of Paul Revere”) sounded the warning as far as Lexington, but then was arrested by the Brits, as was another rider, William Dawes. A third man, Dr. Samuel Prescott, a resident of Concord, made it all the way to his hometown, but got no lasting ink for his efforts.

support it!! Walter Reddy, the founder, has financed this Lexington Rallly and the Boston Tea Party. Dr. Vieira has donated tons of his own time to this cause, They are true patriots. If all of us contributed just a little bit each month, as Michael has asked us to do for the DP, it would greatly help the Committees of Safety and aid our cause. They will take large donations too!

I don't really get their website. Maybe a mission statement or something. Not sure what they are trying to do.

I'm mostly confused by this statement at the bottom of the Home page:
"Please Note: Feel free to bring a hand held video camera and share footage. Tripods and commercial filming of the event are prohibited without expressed consent from CommitteesofSafety.org"

I thought Lexington Green is a PUBLIC Historical site. Is it private? CoS renting it or own it?

From what I understand that is a restriction placed on the CoS by the town of Lexington. Yes, Lexington Green is a PUBLIC historic site, but Cos still had to get a permit - and they nearly didn't get it. Seems the town of Lexington thinks that things like freedom and militias and fighting for freedom are quaint historical event s that have no relevance to today!

What are they trying to do? Basically, to restore sound money at the state level. In order to enforce this, we need to revive state militias - not the National Guard, which is under Federal control, and not private militias, but militias under the control of the local government.

I will try to address all your concerns. First, I'm sorry our "mission" is not in a
sound bite for you, but it can be found on the "About Us" page. Basically, we will be lobbying our State Legislators to re-vitalize the Constitutional State Militia (by State statue) Something that hasn't been functional for over 100 years. Second, The Lexington Green is a public green, that belongs to the town of Lexington,MA.
In order to stage an "Event" or "Rally" on the Lexington Green, you must get a permit from the Town of Lexington. The CommitteesofSafety.org managed to get the permit, and permission to use the official staging area, which includes the podium and bleachers (for a fee) on the anniversary day of the "Battle of Lexington". Believe me this was no easy feat ! Thirdly, the Committees of Safety are Sponsoring this Rally, but we are counting on all of you to help us by donating what you can. It cost money to put something like this on. We've invited some great speakers from around the country that will be here including the Oath Keepers. Committees of Safety got the permit, paying for expenses, is organizing this Rally and will be filming, producing and eventually having a DVD of the Event for sale. We don't mind people bringing cameras and sharing footage including YouTube, etc. We just don't believe its fair to allow other film producers to make money off of something they did not contribute to.

Guess I'm not the only one wanting to go back in time too see what it was like. "grin, smile"

Anyway, for those unfamiliar with the role of the drums, the different beats were used for ordering commands. Great stuff!
