I wrote my Congressman to support HR 1207 and got this response
April 3, 2009
Dear Mr. Moore,
Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the Federal Reserve. I appreciate your interest in the issues facing our country and state, and I am glad for the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. By contacting me on issues important to you, I am better able to represent Utah in Congress.
In 1913, Congress created the Federal Reserve System to serve as the central bank for the United States. The Federal Reserve formulates the nation's monetary policy, supervises and regulates banks, and provides a variety of financial services to depository financial institutions and the federal government. The System comprises three major components, the Board of Governors, a network of 12 Federal Reserve Banks, and member banks.
I recognize that some have expressed concerns about the Federal Reserve system. However, I think that it appropriately manages our private banking system. Congress specifically created the Federal Reserve as an independent agency to enable the central bank to carry out its responsibilities protected from excessive political and private pressures. At the same time, by law and practice, the Federal Reserve is accountable to Congress. The seven members of the board are appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. Congress routinely monitors the Federal Reserve System through formal and informal oversight activities.
Again, thank you for sharing your concerns with me. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact my office.
Sincerely,
JIM MATHESON
Member of Congress
So I responded with this-
Congressman Matheson,
You have to be flipping kidding me! I now know that you are either a sell out politician or a completely uneducated one. You choose! Either/or, you are definitely not qualified for the position to represent the good people of Southern Utah.
I assume this is an auto response message and not one personally generated on my behalf. You and I both know the Fed is a privately owned cartel that lends every dollar into circulation at interest. The Fed is responsible for the boom and bust cycles because they determine the interest rate. The Fed is not accountable to Congress, if so we would not need to pass legislation (HR 1207) to see their books. The seven henchmen who speak of, are always Wall Street crooks.
The Fed was started by the Morgans, Rockefellers and Warburgs. The same who lobby ed for the Income Tax to repay the interest of the money borrowed. Woodrow Wilson was a sell out who later admitted his great injustice to the American people. I recommend you watch Aaron Russo's "Freedom to Fascism" and read Edward Griffins "The Creature of Jekyll Island". After watching and reading these, you are either for it or against it. Either with them or against them.
I will be sure to bring this response to the Tax Day Tea Party in St. George on April, 15 and I am also forwarding this message to Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Keith Oberman and many more.
I am asking you to educate yourself and support Ron Paul's HR 1207 to audit the Fed, or step down as my representative.
Sincerely,
Tim Moore
Washington, UT

The second letter will only get the same response.
These letters are answered by a computer program called IQ. The interns look at the mail and assign them to a specific issue and then a form letter that was written by a Legislative Assistant that has been approved by the Legislative Director. So much mail comes into a Congressman's office each day that is impossible for an LA to argue about a particular issue through the mail. It just isn't the way things work.
The most effective way to get your opinion out there is to call the office an say pleasantly: "Hello can I have THE NAME (only name) of your financial services LA?" Since an office gets regular calls about this everyday from businesses and other offices this information is given out freely and with little thought. Second, call the office at least a few hours later and ask if you can talk to the LA, give the name that was given to you earlier. They will ask who is calling and who you are with. Say that you are a constituent and you want to talk about some Financial Legislation. Odds are they will send you to their voicemail but if you catch them at a right time they will take your call. They do want to hear from constituents. Here you can argue your case for auditing the fed. Be prepared because a Congressman's LA is always on top of their work. They know their stuff. Always be pleasant. They love the district and state just as much as you.

Our predecessors have endeavored by intricacies of system and shuffling the investigation over from one office to another, to cover everything from detection. I hope we shall go in the contrary direction, and that, by our honest and judicious reformation, we may be able... to bring things back to that simple and intelligible system on which they should have been organized at first." --Thomas Jefferson to Albert Gallatin, 1802

Can someone tell me
When a person/gubberment uses a force to achieve something, why would the people think they will get accountability from them? What do they owe you? WHAT!!! They don't owe anyone anything! THEY TOOK IT BY FORCE. When are you going to get past the fancy quotes and the blind indoctrinations to see, what is right in front of your face? The whole system was set up to rob and control us! Until people understand that FORCE IS NOT FREEDOM, you will never get answers to anything! Not 9/11, not anything.
I got NO response from mine
Hinchey (D) NY. Wrote him 3 times...nothing back from him....
Pay attention, he's your 'duly elected representative'
So, you still going to file your 'voluntary' federal tax return? You still paying federal payroll taxes?
Good boy! Get upset and squak all you want. Just keep on payin them there taxes! Remember, they're the government, and they're there to help!
Well done, Racer.

Well at least you now know...
that your congressman is one who needs to GO HOME!
"Dear Congressman,
It seems obvious to me that you and many of your colleagues in Congress have decided to operate the House of Representatives as 'an independent agency' 'protected from excessive political and private pressures'; such as the will of your constituents. I will do my best to see that after the next election you will never again have to worry about political pressure of any kind."

I wonder how

it IS an auto response message
Got the same letter from rep. David Wu, 1st district, Oregon.
Move on to others in your state that may support it.
By the way
It is quite obvious that these representatives are mostly bought by the bankers and if they pretend to be uninformed as to how FED operates is rather silly to believe.
I love your response Tim
Although bringing up G Ed Griffin might have been unwise. We don't want him to get arrested or killed. Ed Griffin is one of the leaders in our movement and we need his voice in the events to come.
However I like your tough stance as opposed to most here who think just playing footsie with bought politicians will fix the situation.
Two thumbs up!
That was a silly way to respond to his letter...
It's obvious he is unaware of the purpose of the bill.
Informing him that he is a "sell out"/"uneducated," and launching into a tirade about "cartels" and "JP Morgan" will not help you win him over. In fact it will do the opposite. He will write you off as a crank whose vote he will never get anyways, and you will be ignored.
A simple reply pointing out that all the bill does is:
And reminding him that the fact that "the Federal Reserve is accountable to Congress" means nothing if effective oversight is thwarted by a lack of data would have been a much better tact to take.
Basically your argument should center around the following: "The purpose of HR 1207 is to allow congress to gain information about the Fed. It is succinct, easy to understand, and it is innocuous."
And then, depending on how the guy voted on the bailout and how you're feeling you could stick a little stinger in there. Something to the effect of:
'If you can vote to pass a several hundred page piece of legislation that you never read, that committed the taxpayers to 700 billion dollars of new spending, then you can surely take a second to rubber stamp, HR 1207. Or if you feel up to the challenge of actually reading the legislation you pass, you could spend three minutes and read the 375 little words that comprise the bill (Yah that's right I counted them.).
Unaware or bought off.
Unaware or bought off.
Are you referring to me?

No not you, the congressman.
No not you, the congressman.
Eheh. Good. I would have been quite insulted.
.
LOL
I know what you did last summer.
Yes thats right. Remember,
Yes thats right. Remember, if you let these congressmen know that they will be crossing the morgans and rockefellers by voting for this bill they won't vote for it! If you shape it as a power-play by congress over greedy banks, they will be more open.
Ventura 2012
Don't even push it as a 'power-play'...
the best way to get it through is to make it look innocuous. All the bill is, is a request for information about the Fed so play that angle up.
Should the report contain information that is damaging to the Fed then we switch our message from 'just let us look' to 'do something about it, you bastards.
Excellent Tim.. more of us
Excellent Tim.. more of us need to do this.

Ryderjag, how about writing to the Manchester Union
or other NH newspaper with a Letter to the Editor, perhaps, pointing out the stark and startling ignorance of this person the people of NH elected to represent them? We own property in NH and I may just do that. The time has come to take the gloves off with these absurd, pathetic "citizen representatives". What effing dorks!
May I say "effing"? :)

My response from Michaud of Maine on HR1207
Dear Evangeline:
Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you know, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act would reform the manner in which the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is audited by the Comptroller General of the United States. This bill would require that a report on the completed audit be submitted by the Comptroller General to Congress within 90 days, and be made available to the Speaker of the House, the majority and minority leaders of the House of Representatives, the majority and minority leaders of the Senate, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the committee and each subcommittee of jurisdiction in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and any other Member of Congress who requests it.
Congress created the Federal Reserve as an independent agency to enable the central bank to carry out its responsibilities protected from excessive political and private pressures. At the same time, by law and practice, the Federal Reserve is accountable to Congress. During these challenging economic times, Congress needs to ensure that the Federal Reserve lives up to its responsibility to protect the American economy. On February 26, 2009, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 was referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. Please know that I will keep your thoughtful comments in mind as this bill makes its way through the legislative process.
Thank you again for sharing your views with me. In addition, I also provide occasional email updates on a range of issues affecting people in Maine. All this buck passing about "congress created the federal
reserve" I saw this in 2 of the responses a couple of you posted.
We should then ask them, using their same logic, didn't congress & the government in general "create" slavery, separate but equal education, prohibition, etc. etc. all the wrong and failed programs that congress "created" what makes this one different?

Dear Mr. Lovely,
Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act. I truly appreciate hearing from you, and I am working hard to stand up for New Hampshire's interests in Congress.
The Federal Reserve was created in 1913 after a series of financial panics to provide the United States with a safer, flexible, and stable monetary and financial system. The Federal Reserve's role is to supervise and regulate banking institutions and set monetary policy for the United States with the goal of increasing employment and decreasing inflation.
The Federal Reserve Transparency Act would require an audit of the Federal Reserve by the Comptroller General before the end of 2010. This legislation has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. As a member of this committee, please know that I will monitor this legislation closely and keep your views in mind.
I encourage you to continue to contact me about the issues that are important to you. Please feel free to visit my website at www.hodes.house.gov where you can share your ideas with me, learn about the services I can provide to you, and sign up for my periodic e-mail updates on what I am doing to help New Hampshire.
Sincerely,
Paul Hodes
Member of Congress

"Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils." -- General John Stark.
thanks for writing him anyway
What he's really saying is:
If I were to stand out against the federal reserve I would have to have a hell of a lot more guts than I have right now, because I don't want to get my head blown off like some other people that have spoke out against the emperors that truly run this country. The federal reserve tells me what to think, how to think it, and who to express my thoughts to. Everything is good, everything is fine just the way it is. I am a slave, you are too smart to be a citizen. Get a lobotomy and be stupid like me and everything will be O K .......
What a crock of doo doo
Regarding this: "... by law and practice, the Federal Reserve is accountable to Congress. The seven members of the board are appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. Congress routinely monitors the Federal Reserve System through formal and informal oversight activities."
Then how is it that Greenspan said this???
