Well all the government has to do is print out the money like crazy and give it to the welfare people for hyper inflation. They are already doing it as we speak so all You doubters enjoy because hyper inflation is here to stay. Hey just think when the rest of us loose our jobs too and We all get on the system ..... AWESOME

This is absolutely in store for us. There will be hyperinflation! They are now monetizing the debt not just creating credit. When the Bond market bubble bursts and China dumps the dollar things will escalate fast. There will also be food shortages which will drive prices up along with inflation.

Those that think the dollar will survive by some nuance of lending vs printing are in fantasy land. Everything is in place for the perfect storm along with completing a fascist takeover and even here most people are in denial!

You cant bail yourself out by printing more money. It may make the dow perk up for a few weeks, but once the markets absorb the impact of a few trillion more dollars in circulation, those dollars will plummet in value. Its just another means for banks to steal real wealth and replace it with paper funny money.

There are those who think the US dollar will become worthless because the Federal Reserve and the banks will print so many of them that it will dilute the value to zero. Remember that in the US, at least under the current monetary system, new money is loaned into existence, so unless they change the system and start spending it into existence, there is the problem of finding borrowers. So far, the federal government seems to be the principal borrower. And then there is the problem of fear driven hoarding of currency (the velocity of money). Two parts of the equation to determine demand for goods and services are money supply and money velocity.

Look at the M3 chart at this web site and notice the very anemic rate of growth.

For M2 money supply, the growth rate is not quite as anemic as M3, but it is within historic norms for now.. There was a gargantuan effort of the federal reserve to inject reserves into the banking system in order to stimulate money supply growth, and so far what is shown in the above chart has been the result, I think because people are sitting on money or at least slowing down their spending, thus cutting the demand for goods and services. Banks are reluctant to make loans to people whose credit evaluation does not support the loan and standards have tightened.

The conclusion that we will end with a dollar that nobody will accept, except for toilet paper, based on what happened in Zimbabwe may be fragile logic. The opposite could happen, and in spite of FDIC insurance, people could lose confidence in the banking system and demand cash for their checking and savings accounts, and then just sit on the cash. This would destroy the ability of banks to expand the money supply because their reserves would be depleted, hence making creating new money very difficult. Effectively the attempt of the free market to operate in spite of government plunder, management, and control could defeat the attempts by the government to drive up prices.

I am not saying that prices could not eventually skyrocket, but so far the evidence is that expansion of the money supply is moderating and velocity is falling.
