the GSEs Freddie and Fannie got them any policy favors, like legally cheating.
A 2004 Wall Street Journal editorial was first to point out claims in an OFHEO report that showed accounting malpractices by the GSE.
“For years, mortgage giant Fannie Mae has produced smoothly
growing earnings. And for years, observers have wondered how Fannie
could manage its inherently risky portfolio without a whiff of
volatility," the Oct. 4, 2004, editorial, “Fannie Mae Enron?” said.
“Now, thanks to Fannie’s regulator, we know the answer. The company

what they are going to do anyway. The fed is not federal and shouldn't take part in government decisions and choices made in congress. Why does anyone federal continue to acknowledge the the federal reserve.
Congress is becoming only a face to show the power of the elitist. Men with no back bone should be thrown out of congress. Most wouldn't get their suit dirty except falling to their knees to the elitist agendas. Most of our government has been in office to long and have become conditioned to respond without any thought of the constitution or the best interest of freedom and liberty for the people.

Barney Frank could have stood up to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when they came and asked for the stimulus package.
He did not have to get rid of the restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac even if Greenspan and Bernanke decided this was a good idea
By getting rid of the restrictions on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, it partially resulted in the massive bubble effect and then the bubble burst.
Congress had an oversight responsibility here to curb the influence of Freddie Mac so that later AIG, Merril Lynch and the rest could not get away with those criminal actions!!!
So Frank and Conyers were asleep at the wheel when Freddie Mac went totally out of control. That was their responsibility to try to stop them.
The Federal Reserve also did whatever it wanted and ran away with the inflation, because our Congress, including Chariman Frank did not have proper oversight of the Reserve Banks.
An open full on audit of the Federal Reserve is mandatory now to see exactly how this happened, and fix it and definitely stop it.
Geithner has no business telling the American people how they have to spend their own money when we aren't even being shown where the money is going and what the banks are doing!
Congress must re-assert its mandate of oversight authority to see if the Fed is worth it.

Perhaps instead of getting into verbal scuffles with college students over who said what and how, he should have outright answered his question form the get-go and given himself some form of dignified air that should come with being chair of the HFSC. Yes, the student WAS out of his league, but Frank certainly should have shown the public tack he, honestly, is obligated to show in the public eye, instead of getting testy because he felt he was trying to be baited and bringing baseless, sensationalist partisan politics into the discussion via labels. Our republic deserves FAR better than petty squabbles between parties (especially from the ones claiming to be America's "New Age" conscience), especially NOW of all times. Bad timing for the loss? I think so. In the words of H. L. Mencken: "Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right." Bad timing, once again.
The Feds need to be audited and exposed to the same economic cut-backs its constituents live with daily, and to stop looking at just the individual trees in the forest of the very future of our country. Spending money frivolously in an effort to secure more money is a pointless as trying to barbecue an ice cube. *sight* God save our American states. He knows we need it.

We need to audit the fed.
If you have not already done so you should write your senators and reps....Tell them to Audit or abolish the fed, and start reading the bills.
Also we want them to cite chapter and verse from the constitution where they derive the power to pass each bill. Right?

I can't believe a chairman in Congress is getting into a squabble with a student. Plus, it makes him look like an idiot because he could never answer the question directly.
Congress to grant Paulson (and now Geitner) the authority to Bail Out his buddies. Treasury already had it. Your Representatives were making it look like they were doing something.
Ask him when the National Emergency (that has been going on since 1933) will be terminated. Don't ya think 75 years is long enough?
Read the IEEPA found in the link below. Ask Barney Frank why we have a need for a House Banking Committee. The IEEPA has been in force for years and gives the Treasury Secretary all the power he needs to create as much cash as he deems necessary, without Congressional approval.
Barney wants you to believe you are free. He knows you are a slave and that is why he talked to the student the way he did. You are a subject, and he wants you to be put in your rightful place.
Frank is coming to the University Of Mass Dartmouth in a couple weeks where i got to school to do this exact same thing. My college is in his district and i am priveyed to attend the session because im on student government. Ive been on live television before and can hold my own.

Well, two can play that game!
Ask him why he never served in the U.S. military when everyone in his age group was drafted in those days including the "Honorable " Ron Paul.
