LPUK Press Release: Live by the database, die by the database

Today the Libertarian Party launched their 'Live by the database, die by the database' campaign. This is in response to the Government’s policy to force ISPs to record data on all email and VOIP communication for 12 months.
The campaign asks people to insert similar text and keywords into all their email communication.

The following is a disclaimer and a protest at the collection, retention and sharing of my personal mail by the morally bankrupt state.

By adding a string of key words, it will guarantee that each and every mail that I send will now need to be manually viewed as it is picked up by the auto scan software. If every person in the UK does exactly the same, then the entire system will quickly become so unmanageable, so unwieldy that it will become unworkable.

Suggested key words could include

Key words, bomb, assassinate, president, brown, Osama, Obama, Sargozy, Merkel, government, target, location, rocket, grenade, al-Qaeda, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, UK, America, guns, jets, bombs, machine-gun, terrorists, MP's, pigs, troughs, France, Germany, Italy, nuclear, Korea.

The campaign aims to highlight the deeply illiberal nature of the Government’s policy. And cause disruption to the systems used to implement the data tracking and mining.

Libertarian Party leader Ian Parker-Joseph said, "This new law, slipped into place using a Statutory Instrument to avoid parliamentary debate, has nothing to do with security and everything to do with Governmental control.

When any Government launches such illiberal legislation against their own people at the behest of the EU, it becomes apparent that the Government and the EU has lost its way.

Laws are supposed to protect the people from the Government, and this campaign is designed to disrupt as much as possible a law that previous Soviet Bloc states would have been proud of, until we are in a position to force change or to repeal it."
