Jerk or not?
It doesn't matter. The guy doing this is a complete jerk, he really should be explaining the whys, but it doesn't matter, because we NEED people like him.
I wouldn't even know that there were checkpoints unless this guy was doing this. I mean he's a complete ass, the checkpoint guys ARE just doing their job, but their job is a waste of manpower and tax dollars. It needs to stop.
If they had one police office there, it'd be a legal stop as they could just pull him over to check to make sure he's carrying his driver's license. Unfortunately, it's completely unconstitutional to set up a federal government branch to do this.
Feds need to get out of town and get down to patrolling that border where they belong. I hope 100 more people begin doing this and recording it so that it creates SO MANY problems with that checkpoint that they're forced to shut it down.

The point is they are unalwfully detaining a man who has committed no crime, and he is standing up for his right to travel freely and maintain his privacy.

I am trying to figure out
what's the point? What is his point? Arizona is being totally over run by illegals. It is a complete nightmare in this state. This is 40 miles north of the border. So what, it's east to west. It is a way to monitor what is coming up from the border. Maybe it's a band aid but these guys are just doing their job.
This guy is a pain in the rear. I am not impressed. If this were in the middle of Kansas, it would be a different story. He is deliberately inciting these guys, if they know who he is. It's like "oh yeah, here comes good old what's his name again with his camera." I am sorry but I am not impressed.
The guy who stood up to TSA had a complete right and was totally justified. This guy, on the other hand, is just being a pain. I believe he deliberately goes looking for trouble so he can post it on YouTube. Please don't get sideswiped by this. The TSA thing should go everywhere. TSA are the real Nazi henchman. I believe these border guys are just doing their job. It's a real sucky place to be stuck every day having to deal with the tedium and the heat.
There is a checkpoint across the Hoover dam. I have to go there several times a year. I don't like it. I think it's kind of silly because of why it was implemented. But those guys are just doing their job and they are very nice about it. Why should I give them a hard time? The TSA people on the other hand, are totally violating people's rights and are obnoxious and disrespectful. Something needs to be done about them.

these people manning the check points are not doing their job. They are doing the job of a tryannical government set on enslaving all of the populace.
Maybe you think this guy is a pain in the butt, however the great pain is when the gov. thinks it can demand, under penalty of detention or worse, your papers anywhere it wants.
Whose job are these "law" (and I purposely put that in quotes) enforcement officers doing? Whose agenda are they advancing? Sovereignty is not only a state of mind, it is a reality we must defend every day. So far the American people have done a terrible JOB of defending their sovereignty against a usurping federal (feral) government.

Build the dang 'fence' for which money has already been allocated.
Stop the flood of illegals... that would increase the availability for proper inclusion of immigrants to our society.

They came up to you while you were just sitting there and for no reason asked for your license. Justifiable to ask why. And they were very nice about it, too. They probably thought you were drinking or something based on the circumstances.
Your situation is different from this guy's situation completely. And I still stand that this guy was not being harassed. It was a standard question. They weren't even asking for his id.

It doesn't MATTER healthnutter. It STARTS with getting the people to accept little bits like this.....just a simple question. Then as time progresses the State will seek to expand that power. That is how it has occurred all throughout history. That's why you NEVER give the State the authority to do what these officers are doing. In this country you don't have to be subject to such questions because we are *free* people here. Had he been coming in from Mexico, no problem. Those are things that have to be done crossing borders. But 40 miles into the country?? Sorry, that is totalitarianism at its worst.
There is no law mandating he answer those questions and he was very much in the right to refuse to do so. By answering those questions he is bowing down to totalitarianism and giving it creedence. That is what this movement is about fighting against!

As a mother of sons this young man's age it just smacks of total disrespect and cockiness. Can't say it any other way. So, that could be my bias. However, I didn't see that in the young man being harassed by TSA and Radiofriendly here. So, maybe people need to look at that when they want to promote their cause on YouTube. There are all kinds of people looking at it and you want to make sure you are a sympathetic character.

Why should we respect the DHS. The U.S. government represents an Evil Empire, and there is no reason to bother respecting them nor should the DHS exist.
If you think you might get arrested or something, then that's one thing, but if they are just intimidating and abusing their power, then I applaud this guy for being awesome.
