Impeach Cheney Now
Submitted by dogster on Tue, 07/24/2007 - 12:23Ron Paul needs to co-sponsor Kucinich's bill to impeach Cheney. His current position, that he will support an investigation for impeachment sounds like a cop-out. There is plenty of evidence lying around to kick Cheney down the steps.
Call Congress Today for Impeachment
We've reached the impeachment moment for Vice President Dick Cheney. We've pushed the cosponsor list for H. Res. 333 up to 14. Chairman John Conyers says that if we get 3 more he'll begin the impeachment proceedings.
And many Congress Members must be recognizing that there is no other path available. Cheney and Bush have repeatedly refused to comply with subpoenas, ordered former staffers not to comply, and announced that the Justice Department will not enforce contempt citations from Congress. When a special prosecutor attempted to hold this administration accountable, Cheney's chief of staff obstructed justice, and Cheney persuaded Bush to commute his sentence. There is no course left for Congress but Impeachment.
On Monday, July 23rd, the fifth anniversary of the meeting that produced the Downing Street Minutes, Cindy Sheehan, Ray McGovern, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Ann Wright, Debra Sweet, Dave Lindorff, David Swanson, Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin, Kevin Zeese, and Tina Richards will lead a march to Chairman Conyers office and not leave until he agrees to begin impeachment proceedings.
If you cannot be there, you can take two minutes on Monday and do two things: phone Chairman Conyers at 202-225-5126 and ask him to start the impeachment of Dick Cheney; and phone your own Congress Member at 202-224-3121 and ask them to immediately call Conyers' office to express their support for impeachment. Your Congress Member might be one of the three needed, not just to keep impeachment activists out of jail but to keep this nation from devolving into dictatorship.

Rediculous, and a waste of energy
Bush/Cheney Inc. has been pretty bad, especially in terms of foreign policy, and the amount of damage they've done with the immigration deal. But I will not support impeachment for either of them unless we're also going to pursue some sort of similar action against pretty much all senators and a good chunk of the House. The problems of this country far transcends the presidency. All Ron Paul supporters and enthusiasts should know that well... cutting the head off of the snake in this case will just result in the growth of a much nastier one.
Impeach Bush and Cheney Now
They both need to be impeached! This is very important to the future of our Constitution! Go here and click on watch the video:

Both Cheney and Bush at
Both Cheney and Bush at times seem on the verge of insanity.
I just think it would be easier for the Congress to get rid of them than to have to wait for a military coup after they have ascended to dictatorship.

It's a waste of time
It's a waste of time, look back at how long the Clinton flap took for why. By the time anything ever happened, Cheney would be out of office anyway, and it would divide us from Republican support we'll eventually need, regardless of the merits, while helping Dennis Kucinich. Any energy you put into impeaching Cheney will NOT be put into getting Ron Paul elected. If we don't all pull in that one direction, we may as well give up now, because we will be defeated.

divide us from Republican support we'll eventually need ???
If there are any Republicans that still support Bush/Cheney, they will never support Ron Paul anyway. Ron Paul would do better soliciting anti-war Democrats/Independents who will trust his antiwar promises more than Hillary's.
If Ron Paul should manage to get nominated, Bush will declare himself dictator and cancel the election which is a good reason to impeach him as well.
There are several books that have been written already laying out the impeachment charges.

Against one of the Democrats?
"If there are any Republicans that still support Bush/Cheney, they will never support Ron Paul anyway."
Against one of the Democrats? I doubt it. And the irony here is particularly delicious, as the libertarian side of Republicanism hasn't really had a fair shot at this since Barry Goldwater. For each election beyond that, we were told to hold our noses and vote for the Nixon wing of the Republican party despite things like the tax and spend drugwar and various other wasteful spending on control-freakery. Now we have a chance to reverse that. Will all Republican voters be thrilled when Ron Paul wins and they have to vote for him? No. That's why we have primaries.
We need to concentrate on winning this one. ANY energy spent against Cheney is energy NOT spent on electing Ron Paul. Same is true for UFOs, 9/11 Truth, or fill in the blanks on issues, we need to concentrate on what Ron's saying and make the media notice it despite their bias. It will require a concerted effort, which will be the usual libertarian herding cats anarchic looking experience, but this time I have a feeling we might win IF we concentrate on ONE objective. Right now, it should be winning Iowa. First place. And I don't think Bush will declare himself dictator (for one thing, Ron's got a bunch of military support, no?)
I know you're mad at Republicans. I've certainly spent time being mad at Republicans when I was a Libertarian, but the time for being mad is over. Cheney is HISTORY for our purposes. Ignore him, and don't help Dennis Kucinich or anyone else. Iowa is the future. (I just can't wait 'till it's Florida!)
JMR
No, I mean in the primaries
Ron Paul will never get pro-war Republicans (Bushies) to support him in the primaries. Thats why he should write them off and go for Undecided/Independent/Democrat voters.
Impeaching Cheney would be full of sound and fury and sure to keep Ron Paul on the front page if he was the Republican leader in favor and make him the most prominent antiwar candidate from either party.
