Blimp in NH on Jan 8?
It would be amazing if the blimp could fly all over New Hampshire on primary day. Imagine hundreds of thousands seeing that as they think about who they're going to vote for that day. It would be a powerful statement from regular Americans sending a message. Just one guy's opinion...
I have to say it...
OH THE HUMANITY!
Of course I don't want the Ron Paul blimp to crash. This was a very good idea. A blimp??? A Blimp!
"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul
Not to worry...
The Hindenburg was a Zeppelin, not a blimp. I've heard talk of Zeppelins being considered for commercial use again. Another victory for the market? We shall see...
Fortunately this one is
Fortunately this one is helium. Helium is inert gas. At least if it crashes, it won't burn too. :)

everyone's voice will climb an octave or two.

Yeah well...
I didn't want to split hairs! :-)
There are 24 people who have pledged 5000 bones! damn! I wish I had that kind of green... to donate of course.

i think the europeans
are helping out a lot here.
Brings tears to the eyes!
And I'm no softy. This idea is just wonderful! This certainly outdoes both big money days in my opinion.
It's Generating Buzz Already
You know it's a great idea when just the idea of it is starting to generate buzz.
There's something special about a blimp. The more I see the pictures the more I really like the idea.
This is bleeding money off
This is bleeding money off the true campaign, ronpaul2008.com. If you have not maxed out - please donate to the campaign before the blimp.
The blimp website says to give to the campaign first
This is for maxed out donors or foreigners wanting to help.

I hear ya, it was my original idea over in ronpaul forums. Fun to see it take off - just want to remind people to keep their eye on the ball :-)
Just a question...
How many hours will the blimp be flying for the month? How far will it travel? Will it be up 24/7 during the month? Will it go to the events we tell it to? These are questions I haven't seen answered.

From the website. I think this answers your question.
Wherever it is needed the most. The Skyship 600 has a max speed of 65 mph and since it is helium it is very costly to deflate and transport therefore it will need to fly everywhere it needs to go. We will receive 100 flying hours for the month and we must strategically plan the most effective flight. Also weather forecasts will affect the route therefore the route will need to be dynamic. Overall we will seek direction and suggestions for the route at RonPaulForums.com.
The blimp is currently on contract with the United States Navy until December 1st and then it returns to its home base at Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Most likely we will fly it in South Carolina to begin with.

100 hours?
Since the Blimp does not come down are we paying for 24 hour days? That is just 4 days 4 hours. How will it get to Boston, at 65 MPH how many hours will that take, there are a lot of unanswered question.
Kent
100 hours will go fast...

As I recall, the initial amount for the blimp was $200,000. Now it's $350,000. What gives? That is a LOT of moola!
