What happened to The Daily Paul?

What happened? It has gone from Ron Paul and what to do to fix the problems into who is a liar, Glenn or Alex?
Who cares what these people say we can´t stand still and focus on what they say all the time. I thought the republic was bigger then that?
People can post what they want (in the frame of what the moderator approves), I am just worried that we lost our way or are starting to?

Here's the list, in not so small a nutshell:
As time goes on, a members-only mentality has begun to set in. "Oh, you've only been here 4 hours- you don't rate an opinion yet." All the while, some late night posters actually INVITE the lurkers to sign in and get a conversation going. Then when they do come in and offer a conversation, the older members jump on them when their view differs, and troll accusations ensue. Not that there aren't some genuine trolls here, but I've also seen some wrongfully accused.
Then of course the message of freedom; "We simply must spread the message!" Funny- I remember a few people saying the same thing about Christianity during the middle ages. Let's not forget the Inquisition either. I'm seeing a lot of trends in human behavior. It would appear that the bitterness of fervency is a chameleon.
Next up, we have the mob mentality beginning to rear it's head in some circles. Ironic, no?
Then as the government piles more and more crap on the people, confusion, desperation and survival instinct overloads the brain, and now we have a shitload of extremely paranoid people who don't even trust themselves, let alone other members here (to include old and new members alike). So, of course, more heated debate, more accusations, people see conspiracies around every corner, screwy ass Da Vinci code wannabes looking for patterns in their cheerios, and so forth. Meanwhile, a lot of things end up slipping by them in the fray.
I stay up in the rafters where I have a good view, occasionally climbing down to say something. I look in here from time to time and cannot help but wonder if this is how tribalism escalates into perpetual warfare, much like Israel and the middle eastern tribes. They've been mad at one group or another, and been fighting with others so long that eventually they forget why they are fighting, they just do.
"You're one of us, or you are the infidel." Substitute this for "You're a RP supporter, or you just don't get it." Then one tribe disagrees and says "RP is top dog, but Bob Barr is pretty cool too- why not include him?" Warfare ensues. "Hey, Glenn Beck said a good thing." Another tribe takes offense; warfare again ensues. I find this all to be highly amusing, and laced with irony, personally.
I could probably explain more, but you get the picture. I look here for articles of interest since it is often a repository of knowledge (at least after you sort through all the bullsh*t).
Aside from that, the DP is nothing more than a petri-dish to me, and I've gotten some interesting glimpses into human nature.

Thanks for your thoughtful post. I have noticed that new people are pounced on. I wonder if we send people away. We should try to be more tactful. And sometimes I think those new to DP should lurk a bit before they comment. There is much to learn here if you just give it a little time.
Learning to spread Ron Paul's message to the unenlightened is something I could use some help with. I've tried different tactics, but I know am not as effective as I could be. I will try to do better. I would like more forum topics on this.
On a positive note, one of my liberal friends is starting to come around. She sent me this email:

This woman is frightening.
She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' (I am not rich, are you?)
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.' (Read that quote again and again and let it sink in. 'Lower your retirement, give it to others who have not worked as you have for it'."

I agree that it is funny.... it really gets hairy when they start even attacking RP himself!
If only they spent as much time out in the world talking to people and spreading the word (hey we can use a crisis just as well as they can, can't we?) instead of arguing here who has the rights to the message, we would be a lot better off.
Nothing have happened.
DP hasn't changed as long as I've been here. It has always been a fine mix of different views and will always be so. That's why DP is thriving. Nevertheless, it's not difficult to recognize what we all have in common here - we can never "loose our way".

Ron Paul's advice
Ron Paul says to spread the message of freedom. He's never said don't let this person or that person talk about it.. that's crazy. Some people think they own the message and those they dno't approve of are not allowed to speak it. On the other hand, they will adulate those who are completely OPPOSED to the message for reasons unknown, like oh boy, someone is 'protesting' so that is good... (but not if it's for the wrong reason!)
