The piece makes one good point:
What's our primary motivation? Is it to appear informed in the sight of our peers? Or is it for love of liberty?
I'll admit that I like the feeling that comes from discussing the particulars of monetary policy with Keynsians/the uninformed. But with well-informed Austrian-school economists—I'm a lot less interested. Why? Not because there's nothing to discuss—there's plenty. But because I don't get the satisfaction (if you could call it that) of people responding "wow. where did you learn all this stuff?".
No accusations here—this is just some out-loud introspection.

is my motivation. Maybe you aren't as interested in talking to Austrian-school economists because you dislike redundancy, and a conversation that has too many "I agrees" in it could be boring. Just a thought.
I'm glad you can "wow" people...most people I talk to won't budge from their Keynsian/uninformed assumptions.
Listening to the "boring" stuff is where we have .....
learned the facts. With these boring learned facts, we can now "WOW" the Keynsians/uninformed. This is called doing our homework and learning... sometimes considered "boring," but a necessary energy expenditure.

Apparently this Mr. Harris was never a boy scout in his younger days.
Nobody wants these bad things that Mr. Calente and Peter Schiff mentioned to happen, but what if some of what they say will come true.
Wouldn't it be better to prepare yourself way ahead of time for the worse, instead of crying to government for help, when they might be a large part of the problem?

That smug commentator failed to present a single criticism of Celente and Schiff's arguments other than to say "most economists" don't agree with them, which proves nothing. Most economists failed to foresee this economic meltdown that Celente and Schiff predicted. So who should we listen to? But Celente and Schiff don't toe the elite's party line so better just smear them with nonsense like "pessimism porn".

Frankly, I'm addicted to Schiff and Celente because I want the system they denounce - the Federal Reserve/central banking, fractional reserve banking, fiat money, confiscatory taxation - to end. Listening to these guys gives me a combination of a sense of dread, coupled with a sense of the inherent rightness of the message, and finally a vindication of my own morality and political philosophy.
