Don't bother to call the cops, defend yourself

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e4e_1239676154

"Just doing my job" - the four most disgusting words that fall from the mouths of sleeple.

But it is great for the economy. Now some lawyers will have work while she tries to appeal, and some therapist will have work while she tries to heal, and of course the pharmaceutical industry will get some money out of her. Best of all, those fine gents who watched her get raped will carry on "just doing their job" too.

When you call the cops, they show up looking for someone to arrest. If the criminal has already fled, that leaves YOU.

Typical NYC Reaction...I KNOW!

Those subway booth clerks are quite the humanoids...If a tidal wave rushed in, they would still stand there gaping and brain dead.

I managed a NYC store in 1979 when 2 guys came in wanting cash at the point of a gun...I ran out of the store, tripped on the sidewalk and one tried pulling me back into store. After escaping up the block - screaming - do you think that the crowd that had gathered tried to help me? NOOOOOOOOO! That was the second time in front of a thug with a gun...the first time my friends and I were "hijacked" when a goon got in the car with a gun....I had to drive around lower Manhattan with the gun at the back of my head!

Do I believe in self defense? A resounding YES!!! This video a friend just sent me today should convince us all we need to be able to defend ourselves and businesses:

"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom."

"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom." Patrick Henry

Keep in mind that we live in a cowardly and selfish society.

If any citizen was there with at least an eye dropper full of self respect, he would have put his own safety on the line and attacked the man with full, adrenaline-fuelled frenzy. But we now live in a society where the women have been masculated ("Sure, I can take the subway home at 2 in the morning!") and the men have been feminized ("I would help her, but I just got my nails done!")
If I where there, I would have ran at him screaming at the top of my lungs. Upon reaching him, I would have either stabbed him several times in his liver (located right below the ribs on the right-hand side) or I would have jammed my thumbs in his eye sockets.
Obviously, I would have just pulled out some steel if NYC wasn't the socialist aquarium of the united states. If you do pull a gun, you can get 4 years mandatory if it's loaded.
Nine times out of ten, yelling loudly at an attacker by a third party causes them to flee. These poor excuses for human beings where too petrified to even raise their voices.

Pathetic.

She can't really sue anyone for cowardice. Just like most retail employees aren't supposed to chase shoplifters, these goons were sheepishly following protocol. The real lesson here is to: A. take cabs home late if you are a pretty girl living in a huge metropolis. And B. Arm yourself, for crying out loud.....at least with pepper spray!

What if instead of being in

What if instead of being in the subway they were in some business? Like WalMart, for example. Would Wal-Mart be liable? Probably. So why not the city? Just food for thought.

Also, the news reporters try to use this as a case to legally compel other people to get involved. The one problem I see regarding that is knowing it would result in people being legally compelled to "watch" and not "watch over" their fellow citizens. Make it illegal to do nothing in this case, then the next thing it will be illegal to not intervene when any two people are fighting... then illegal to not take action when you see a theft... then illegal to not take action against those who litter.... and before you know it, big gov successfully turned all citizens against one another. Even with this case, I still trust the government much less to do the right thing and act within reasonable limits.

Regarding the police... their job is more and more these days simply to clean up the mess and arrest whoever they can collect enough evidence on or find a reason to.

...

As soon as I am 21

I will be getting a pistol for self defense, and to protect others. I am first-aid trained and a second degree black belt (and I'm a certified instructor), but without a gun I am limited to close range combat. I know exactly how to take charge of an emergancy situation and save lives, but I am more than willing to kill someone if the situation calls for it. As other people have said, if I was there, he would be dead or dieing by the time the police got there and the women would not have been raped. I may only weigh 130 pounds, but it is all strong, flexible, and fast muscle. 10 years of martial arts, 4 years of competitive gymnastics, and 3 years of DanceDanceRevolution has made my legs insanely strong. Back in 7th grade, I was easily leg pressing 400 pounds. At this point, I could probably do anywhere from 500 to 600. Hard to find that much weight though.

That being said, she shares some of the blame, however cruel and cold hearted it may seem, because she put herself into a bad situation. If she took a different route or especially was carrying some form of protection, she probably would not have been raped.

I hope I will never have to use my abilities, but they will be ready if the time comes.

She needs a handgun.

I bet she conceal carries when this is all over! Those "men" also need to grow some balls.

Bingo!

Ron Paul is my President.

Ron Paul is my President.

If the four major players in this drama had been armed.....

....it would have been 3 to 1. The conductor and ticket person would have been more willing to get involved. The woman could have defended herself. As it was she chose to allow society to take responsibility for her own actions. Yes, those two rail-employees could have, and should have done more. The law is the law. You either take responsibility for your own actions or you don't. People want the rewards of freedom, but want someone else to take the responsibility for freedom. My daughter got a black-belt in karate at age 14, for her 18th birthday present she got a revolver (she has been shooting for years). She has the option of protecting herself, she will call the cops if possible but is trained to take care of problems herself. I still am concerned about her welfare, but at least she has an idea of what to do in an emergency. Most people freeze.

No more laws - she needed a GUN!

GUNS GUNS GUNS!

It can't be...can it?

It can't be...can it?

Cops - Prevent Nothing, React To Everything!!

It should be their new motto.

When seconds count

The police are only minutes away.

NYC: No weapons allowed, city has no responsibility for anyone's safety, textbook victim disarmement.

is always much more clear in hindsight.

Hmmm....

Bystanders should be held liable for not attempting a low risk rescue of a woman who was too stupid to carry so much as pepper spray at 2am on the subway?

Seriously, this host is nuts. What's worse is both people readily agree with her. A person has a responsibility for self defense and quite frankly, maybe now she won't go on the subway at 2am without being armed with some kind of weapon (gun, tazer, pepper spray)....

But of course, it is not politically correct to ask what the victim could have done to save herself.

The world needs more people like you

like we need more flouride in the water.

When it happens to your loved one, maybe you will grow a bit of compassion.

These were not "bystanders" they were metro employees, she was on their property. There was a time when people tried to do the right thing, not excuse inexcusable behavior.

First of all...

I am not in the mood to deal with you non-libertarian libertarians. First, of all, if I was present, I would have beaten the guy to a bloody pulp. However, it would not have been my responsibility, the government has no right to force me to do it, and SHE has the responsibility to use a little fricking sense and not blame everyone else when she doesn't.

Now you NEED to back the hell off, because I am sick to death of half ass libertarians who only believe in the cause when it makes them feel warm and fuzzy.

If you have not noticed

The young women in our society are being brought up believing a bunch of lies, and hampered by unconstitutional legislation. If it was simple for her to own a weapon, I would be less inclined to think you are just an ass. You know full well she would probably have been breaking some law to carry a weapon. Furthermore, she has probably been fed a line of liberal bullshit that leaves her a vulnerable little "I don't believe in violence" zombie. You can think whatever you like, but I believe as humans, we all have a responsibility to defend the vulnerable.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

wolfe's picture

"There oughtta be a law!"

You either believe in the cause or you don't. I am long past coddling individuals who only believe in it "sometimes".

Pepper spray isn't illegal nor a host of other weapons in new york. If she "believes" the system will protect her, e.g. the police. Then she was protected as well as she expected to be and can't gripe when the system doesn't work.

But, instead you would have these toll workers lose their jobs, or their homes and families because they didn't feel adequate to the task at hand? That is what that host was advocating!

"There oughtta be a law!" - When someone says this, you of all people, being here, should question that...

And last, I AM an ass. I expect people to be responsible for themselves in their daily lives. I help people, far more than you probably expect, but I do so because I want to, not because there "oughtta be a law"... Wanna pass behavioral control laws?... There are plenty of people that you can help out with that!... I have a RIGHT to be an ass if I choose to be. And yes, that includes watching some silly little twit get taught the meaning of "protect and serve"... I woulda beaten the guy to death if I was present, but I would maintain the RIGHT to not get involved if I so chose.

The Philosophy Of Liberty -

No where in the post did I suggest a law needed passed

Indeed, the title is "defend yourself."

My point is two men saw her, knew she needed help, but stopped at what their job required they do: push a button.

This was a young woman, raised in a society where she IS a victim. She is a victim of generation after generation of lies being taught in the schools, churches, clubs, media, news... Those of us who know better DO have a duty to help the victims, WE ARE ALL in the same boat. If we do not "step up" when life puts us to the test, we are lousy humans. Those men are lousy humans. GREAT employees, though - they follow the rules without waivering.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

wolfe's picture

You attacked me...

personally, I might add, when I attacked the show's host for wanting more laws.

If you didn't disagree with me, you could have simply not argued with me over it. Instead, you chose to defend the position that these people should be held responsible and threw a few insults into the mix.

And "duty" is an odd word. You may ONLY apply it safely to yourself. You CANNOT determine another person's duty for them. In your statement, you say it is "our" duty, but you can keep your "duty" to yourself, thank you. Pushing your moral/duty beliefs on others is what has gotten this country into this mess. I act according to my nature, and do not believe in duty or any such nonsense.

The Philosophy Of Liberty -

Our values have corroded.

I love that everyone here says they would confront the man because I would do the same. The media tells people that they should not "take the law into their own hands. This pretty much means that justice can only be brought about by legal means which is simply false. The people of the united States need to be armed to the teeth with not only arms, but wisdom. If he touched her and she pulled out a pistol, this would have gone completely different.

i don't ever ever ever call

i don't ever ever ever call the cops.. i do all my own police work, as well as my own prosecuting work, judge work, jury work, executioner work, and crematory work ;)

as far as guns go, if it isn't legal, you hide it under your coat and don't tell anybody you have it. chances are you'll never get caught with it.

ladies, grow a pair of balls and carry a fsckin gun already.

fellas, get off your asses and do something when the chickiepoos cry for help.

jeffwhite,
