Who Will Continue Ron Paul's Anti-War, Anti-Spending Message?

http://www.opposingviews.com/articles/opinion-who-will-conti...

One of the great things about Ron Paul’s presidential campaign was its cross-ideological appeal. Libertarians, free-market conservatives, and antiwar young people all found his candidacy appealing. As someone who has despaired for years about the split between free-marketers and civil libertarians, who ought to be part of the same broad freedom movement, I looked forward to seeing that combination continue. So here’s a suggestion.

President Obama’s frightening tax-spend-and-take-over-private-businesses policies are re-energizing a free-enterprise constituency that had been depressed and dispirited by the reality of a Republican government giving us bigger, more expensive government for eight years. Cato’s full-page newspaper ads against the “stimulus” bill generated much enthusiasm and media discussion. CNBC’s Rick Santelli and South Carolina governor Mark Sanford have become folk heroes for speaking out against Obama’s economic policies. Now there are anti-tax “tea parties” planned in more than 300 cities. The growing resistance to Obama’s spending agenda is encouraging.

But meanwhile, where’s the antiwar movement? President Obama rose to power on the basis of his early opposition to the Iraq war and his promise to end it. Now he has doubled down on the war in Afghanistan and has promised to keep the war in Iraq going for another 19 months, after which we will have 50,000 American troops in Iraq for as far as the eye can see. If McCain had proposed this sort of minor tweaking of the Bush policy, I think we’d see antiwar rallies in 300 cities. Calling the antiwar movement!

So here’s my suggestion. Some libertarian group — which may or may exist already; the Internet makes it amazingly easy to organize a new group at a moment’s notice — should start a campaign to unite the antitax and antiwar constituencies with a simple message:

Stop the War, Stop the Spending

Or maybe it should be “Stop the Wars, Stop the Spending.” But it would pick up on Ron Paul’s appeal with his TV ads in which he said, “I’m the only presidential candidate who’ll bring our troops home from Iraq immediately and stop wasteful government spending.”

Obamamites are starting to open their eyes...

I am very fortunate to have contact with all types of people, before and after the election. What I am hearing now from all the Obama supporters is he is no different than Bush, and the next question is out of their mouths is "what can we do"? Of course you know me, I make sure that they speak their minds, and do what every American should do, and that is make our governement accountable to us "WE THE PEOPLE".

Anyone see the old spartacus

Well...
You ask "Who will continue to trumpet Ron Pauls creed."
I answer you "I will for I am Ron Paul."
Then someone in the back says "I am Ron Paul."
And so on.

Bottom line is "I am Ron Paul."

I AM

RON PAUL.......

That is the only acceptable answer to the question posed..

I AM RON PAUL......

"Truth is treason in the empire of lies"......

"Truth is treason in the empire of lies"......

Who will continue Ron Paul's message?

You mentioned Gov. Mark Sanford cause he is speaking out against Obama's spending. This man is also against the Iraq War & if my memory serves me correctly (it doesn't always) he endorsed Ron Paul for President. The magazine The American Conservative (founded by Pat Buchanan) endorsed Ron Paul & recently had Gov. Sanford on the cover asking if he can save the GOP. After reading the article I believe this man has the knowledge, the balls to stand up to the neo-cons, & hopefully the willingness to do so.

He also supports a

He also supports a pre-emptive strike on N. Korea. I don't think we need anymore illegal wars and invasions.

Formerly rprevolutionist

Sadly, he endorsed McCain.

This is a very good article.

To be strong and effective we must make our message that Peace=all civil rights -- including economic freedom -- inseparable. When we focus too much on one or the other, it's easy for enemies to poke holes at the stereotypes they've dismissed as invalid.
PEACE=FREEDOM / FREEDOM=PEACE
I think a lot of people began to get it as Dr. Paul's message, and that's a big part of why respect for him filtered across ideological lines. The honest ones looking for truth actually heard some of what Ron Paul said.
But when they hear more hysterical, rigid, partisan messages they get all scared again about "right wingers."

well said

The answer to the question

The answer to the question is We All Will. RP educated us to do just that. Anyone who believes in bringing our troops from around the world, limited government, and liberty should be the ones to carry the message.

It is time to escalate our war,and our orders are to.
1. Educate people about the constitution and what the government is doing to it.
2. Only support, and or elect candidates that will uphold their oathe to the Constitution.
3. Call the politicians out when the go outside the Constitution.
4. Prepare ourselves for the worse.
5. Help one another achive our goals for Liberty.

Where in the world are the

Where in the world are the C4L people?!!! Why aren't their faces everywhere saying the tea party was OUR idea and spreading OUR message. Cato is everywhere. Club for Growth is everywhere. Who is out there with the C4L???? I have concluded that the leadership there is an utter failure. We let Glenn Beck and FOX steal our movement.

We are here

But if you persist in this "hijacking the message" whining we will be marginalized. There will be over 2,000 tea parties with millions of people available to see your message. And you can't do anything but complain. The C4L is not your 'leader', you are the master of your own fate.

Then I will not send any

Then I will not send any more money. I'll direct it myself. I did indeed attend a party. I saw about 15 RP supporters. Very weak.

I'm going to the DC tea

I'm going to the DC tea party. If I see more I will kick your negative ass

we need both to work hard

grassroots and CFL should both work together.
Reminds me of Solidarity in Poland under communism in the 80's it was both underground leadership and grassroots activists workers masses of people working together and organizing successful resistance.

Duff this is a very good question

Where is the CFL ?

I think they are doing just fine.

Let's hope anyways. Our future does not depend on CFL.

hope you are right

grassroots always worked better in getting things done during the campaign...you are right we can do it without CFL but it would help if they put more effort in getting the word out there...

imagine if we could get a few million patriots attending tea parties across the nation to get info explaining in detail what is going on....all we need is paper ink and printing machine.
