Gov. Perry Backs Resolution Affirming Texas’ Sovereignty Under 10th Amendment

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/press-release/12227/

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.

It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

HCR 50 is authored by Representatives Brandon Creighton, Leo Berman, Bryan Hughes, Dan Gattis and Ryan Guillen.

Yay! Go 'right' team!

Oh boy, it's so exciting to see the way that the corporatists teams scrimmage against each other!

If you haven't figured out that this is the way that the established politicos and their corporate masters string you along, perhaps you are indeed too damn stupid to govern yourselves.

He's getting readfy for his Presidential run in 2012

Anyone who lives in Texas ( I am in Austin - 17 yrs.) knows what this douche is all about. He's a liar. He goes whichever way the wind blows. As some of you may remeber, he has laughed in the face of the citizens as he broke the law and told them to "prove it". He was clocked at around 90mph on his motorcycle through a resdential neighborhood here in Austin and said of the incident, "...what can I say, I like the feel of the wind through my hair, besides, you'd have to prove it". (what do you think your fate would be if you were going that fast through a residential neighborhood? jail and excessive fines, and I'm sure our Texas redneck, good-'ol-boy cops might have some mace and a stun gun with your name on it too.) His security guards in the car following Gov. Perry were stopped by the police, they could not catch the Gov.
And then of course there is the infamous dash cam footage from a police car of the Gov. verbally accosting an officer over a speeding ticket, in which Gov. Perry proclaimed"...do you know who I am?!"
This guy is an NWO/Trans Texas Corridor slime bag/. I say, look for this turd to run a Perry/Palin ticket in 2012.

A little history on tricky rick

From up close personal experience, I remember when Rick was Ag. Commissioner here in Texas, he was basically opinionless and recited the RNC rhetoric of the times. The last time he campaigned for governor, he declared that if re-elected, he would increase the National Guard presence on the border. After he won re-election, and before being re-inaugurated, he announced that more Guard units on the border just weren't necessary. He was a super proponent of the Trans-Texas Corridor and was super influential in bringing a foreign entity , a company from Spain, in as the owner of that super highway. I read that this Spanish conglomerate employeed Guiliani's law firm. Hmmmm. Perry campaigned for Guliani. When public opposition to the super highway grew too strong here in Texas, he backed off the project. I witnessed him insinuate in a speech at the Texas Republican Convention that he was instrumental in defeating the Super highway project and the sheep in attendance there, about 2/3 of the crowd, clapped their approval of this falsehood. Rick talks a good story, but he's just riding the political wind like he usually does. Like most of these political hacks, he's pretty much the opportunist. Down here we would say that he's "all hat and no cattle". He does come off well on T.V. though, and sounds sincere. The message is righteous, but the messenger is a chameleon. If you had the power to do so, it would probably be best to use him to promote the states rights message and then throw him away. But, the trouble is, he seems to be impossible to get rid of.
Lotsa Luck To You and Yours

Thanks for the insight

He does come off well in the video clip that I referenced below, but that was the first time that I have heard him. Your last 4 or 5 sentences should maybe be our take-home message.

Gov. Perry is an elitist climber and a lying sack of shit. The RNC is scrambling to create a new hood ornament to counter the growing influence of the Campaign For Liberty and the true #1 face and voice of the Republican Party in Dr. Paul. The MIAC report was bad enough but the TSA incident at the St. Louis airport was the icing on the cake, people are really paying attention to our cause now. So in comes Rick Perry playing the role wrapped in the Constitution, I am not fooled. The media was also regurgitating Newt Gingrich today as being in the mix for 2012 ... please!

Watch the video clip of the Governor,

he sounds like he means every word regarding the 10th Amendment. Very powerful.

retard.

How about using your brain,

How about using your brain, too, while you're at it and stop with these ad hominem attacks.

he is a fraud

he is jumping on the wagon for name recognition (for 2012) and nothing more.
he is cfr and in favor or the transtexas corridor. he made it mandatory for girls in tx to receive guardisol (sp) injections. The man is a tool and is not on our side.

Formerly rprevolutionist

i agree

driforrp

DRI

Is he

the first governor out of all the states that have done this? I mean this makes about what 30, 35 states? Surely they haven't all done it without their governors?? Glenn acts as if Texas is doing something unique with this? What?

The other states have only

The other states have only made proposals and they haven't even been supported by the representatives. Yes, he is the first Governor I believe to even recognize these resolutions, let alone support them. What are you trying to get at?

Aaa

I was trying to get at asking a question!! Does everyone have to have an ulterior motive?

Rick Perry is a globalist pure and simple and he is running for president, so I have heard. I remember Bush saying many things he did not mean and I simply think Perry will say anything to get elected. I think the handwriting is on the wall that Ron Paul is now the leader of the Republican Party and they will not allow that to happen so they are putting Perry out there. When Perry becomes president, he will pull a Bush.

Does that mean he's a "right wing extremist"?

According to the washington times article posted elsewhere, those "that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority" are right-wing extremists. I'm no fan of Perry, but at least he's also screwed by this burgeoning leviathan he's helped create.

Perry

Gov Perry who supports the NAU highway and was opposed to Dr Paul and would not support him? Hmmm. What an opportunist.

Opportunist

is absolutely what he is. Now Glenn says Perry is going on Greta tonight. He is really getting himself on tv now. Cause he is running for president. The media is getting him known. They have started their 2012 presidential campaign. It has officially started. Perry has been on more this week than I have ever seen him, radio, tv. Also Dr. Paul is decreasing. Noticed?

?

How is this any different than the other 10th amendment acts in other states?

The governor actually

The governor actually supports this one? Did you not read the article?
