County Convention Thursday, I need advice to be elected!

I was elected a precinct delegate in SC last month and now I am on the ballot to be elected a county delegate Thursday. I've never done this before.. does anyone know what I need to do or how this works?

Know your audience

Go early and talk to the voters and ask them what is important to them and address their concerns during your speech. Look up the issues that are addressed on your counties GOP website if they have one and use that as a guide as well. If you provide logical and simple solutions that the masses can understand they will be able to relate to you and more likely to vote for you.

Keep it simple and honest.

And if it's allowed...bring lots of Repub friends to vote for you!

Have a brief pitch ready about why you want the position

It sounds like your state is quite a bit different than mine, but I will try. You may or may not need it, but be aware: For positions on our Central Committee, you need someone to nominate you and someone to second it. They can give speeches, too.
They move things along REALLY fast, and once they have voted on something there is NO bringing it back up. If you have something to say, DO NOT HESITATE.
Good luck, and thanks for continuing to wallow with the pigs. It gets distasteful, but we must persevere.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Thank you, can you suggest a pitch?

I have infiltrated my local precinct delegation, with every intention to seize upon county and state delegates, not because I want to but because I have to. -me

You may not be able to do both

I watched many good people get led down the primrose path here locally. They got a little power, and began to do the "human" thing - strike deals, try to compromise, try to get along... and soon many of them got used and abused. Thankfully, many of them are now realizing that and learning to play hard ball a little. At any rate, it is fine to try to win the neocons over, but NEVER compromise with the soulless bastards.
Here is my best shot, knowing nothing about you or your local issues makes it a bit difficult!
I appreciate being considered as your delegate, and assure you I will serve as a diligent representative if you will cast your vote for me. These are trying times for our nation, state, county and for our party, and I would consider it an honor to be part of the process that I know will restore them to health and vitality. No matter what the media smearmongers say, I am proud to be a Republican. It is said that after the Constitution was completed, a woman asked Benjamin Franklin what they had made, a Democracy or a Republic. "A Republic, madam, if you can keep it" was his reply. I take that challenge to heart, and it seems our Republic could use a few defenders these days. If you would be so kind as to vote for me, I assure you I will be a tireless champion of this Constitutional Republic, and the party that understands what the Constitution gave us.

Good luck!

My advice

would be to cover high taxes and your willingness to energize the base. Find out if there are any meet-up groups in your area and let them know who you are.

You might want to use this line "They can't raise my taxes high enough or fast enough to keep up with all the social programs that they are inventing on a daily basis"

Nice :)
