Submitted by ajwyoming on Sat, 11/24/2007 - 15:41This video presents an endorsement of Ron Paul from a Mormon author named Joel Skousen. It presents a critique of two other Mormons involved in the political scene: Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck.

Article that all Latter-day Saints (Mormons) should read...
I too am a "mormon" whole-heartedly supporting RP. I ran into the following article around mid-october. I'm sure many of you have seen it, but if you are LDS and are lurking here and haven't seen it, please read it. If you are "on the fence" between Romney and Ron Paul, maybe it will help make up your mind. It quotes the late Ezra Taft Benson. The author himself isn't mormon but lives in Utah and is "defending" his position on not "blindly" supporting Romney.

Enjoy.
Ezra Taft Benson
Thank you for posting this link. I can see that Gary's point of view is very well thought out.
His references to Ezra Taft Benson are all worth reading. Anyone interested in Constitutional government should read some of his works. They can be found at Amazon.com and elsewhere. Some of the titles...
"The American Heritage of Freedom; A Plan of God"
"The Proper Role of Government"
"The Threat of Communism; World Brotherhood"
"Cross Fire: The Eight Years With Eisenhower"
(he was Secretary of Agriculture under Eisenhower)
"Title of Liberty"
For those who can't tolerate the 'religious' aspect--I would suggest you get over it. We are all the sum total of our beliefs. These are honorable and steadfast men, like Ron Paul, who didn't waver in their positions. Whether we always agree with them or not is beside the point.
Mormons believe the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the Bill of Rights to be Divinely inspired documents. We believe that America will stay strong only as long as we are a good and righteous people. When our government is usurped by wicked people we will be destroyed from within. We are seeing this come to pass in our day. We are also taught that when the Constitution hangs by a thread that good people will come forth to show the way and the country will be saved. I believe Ron Paul is one of the best of those good people. We, as his supporters, are more of the good people. We who believe in the Constitution will have to stand and fight for it and we will stand side by side with people of other races and religions, people who we might not always agree with but on the issue of saving our Republic we WILL STAND TOGETHER.
I'm NOT Mormon but I understand what he is talking about..
And... I am IMPRESSED that the Mormon Doctrine talks about conspiracy's within GOVERNMENTS!! I did not know that.. but it DOES make PERFECT sense!
I am a Mormon
I endorse Ron Paul and support him whole heartedly. I would go even further to say that a LOT of mormons support Ron Paul. I am very upset that Mr. Romney would be so ignorant about obeying the Constitution and I know that Ron Paul is our answer to restoring the principles of the Constitution and I do not make light of your religion so please do not make light of mine. Thank you.
Ron Paul has my vote!
setting my timer....
to see how long it takes to remove this thread too....
Sad when folks can't realize that sometimes the truth is less than palatable to everyone.
I'm very upset by this flagging thing....what a shame that we can't let everyone voice their opinions without a few people playing judge and jury. This is an open forum when anyone can become involved. That argument that this site belongs to one individual is very thin....no disrespect intended toward Michael. I love the site. Just not a censored site.
I'd rather chip in and help pay for the site than to feel like I have to mince words or be less than open and honest on any given topic.

Untrue garbage
The thread that was deleted, correctly, was an attack on mormons by unfounded stupidity. Your timer may never expire becaues this thread, unlike the previous one today, does not cross the boundary of decent open conversation.....
Truth?
You said:
What truth is that?
speaking in general...
like I said, sometimes things aren't always pleasant, and they offend. But that doesn't mean they are lies or falsehoods.
Specifically I was speaking of the historical truths written by the author of the book "Awakening to Our Awful Situation - Warnings from the Nephite Prophets" by Jack Monnett, PhD. I was trying to post the video (in the original post of this thread) in response to another thread when it got "flagged as offensive." I think it was flagged because someone didn't know the true history of the topic, and instead found it easier to flag it, than to investigate for themselves to see if this person spoke the truth or was even in the ball park.... had the thread "lived" the topic would have been very informative and related to the theme of this website.
Do we hide our eyes from the truth because it offends?
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
Oh, and it takes three flags
It takes three people to flag something to have it pulled.
I'm sorry
that you find that acceptable.

Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
What truths?
Stop evading the question. I asked what truths, and you try to punt with "historical truths" -which is complete BS because there is no such thing as "historical truths" (remember when Napoleon said, "History is nothing but lies agreed upon"?).
Some PhD wrote a book. Big deal. PhDs say a lot of things.
So, what truths?
watch the video
like I did and do your own homework. I can't be your cliff notes. Sorry, but if you truly want to know the truth, it is your duty to discover it for yourself. You then will appreciate what you learned. I did.
Not evading... not my style.
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
I did, and you're still evading...
What truths? Just list 'em. Should be fairly easy to quantify an absolute truth, right?
actually...
some are listed on another thread....sorry but not evading...you gotta learn for yourself....I'm 46 and still enjoying learning things on my own.
You have not researched this. Haven't had the time. LOL Keep going...
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
Because you can't...
Suddenly when time comes to pony up, you're not there.
The amount of time you've taken to respond to me it would be easy to say:
1. We hold these truths to be self-evident
2. That all men are created equal
3. That all men are endowed by their Creator certain unalienable rights
4. ...
I'm just asking you to name the truths. Not that hard.
you are wasting time...
find the answers yourself.
Sorry, that is my final answer. I can, but I won't.
Call it the mother in me...I don't do my kids homework either.
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
You're response
Just curious, do you prevent your kids from drinking anti-freeze or do you let them learn the truth of about harmful chemicals through poisoning and deaths?
Or is your rule about the discovery of "truth" subjective?
You're so silly....
LOL
You have to teach & protect babies....
Have you found out anything yet?

Shoot an email
Shoot an email to Michael Nystrom about it, explaining your position. No reason it can't be included if it's legitimate and relevant.
-James
hmmmm....
I agree that the forum should be completely open, however this is a private site owned by a private individual. He paid for it, end of story. But thanks to the internet being a free-market, you can either go to a different site or create your own.
I'm with you on everything you say about posting, however the sole power of anything to do with this site lies with Mr. Nystrom.
"Truth is treason in the empire of lies." - Ron Paul
Thanks...
But...why create a forum such as this one, open to the public, when you really don't want to hear everything the public might have to say?
We learn from each other, we take the good with the bad and we are all better for it. We each have the ability to take from a conversation things and ideas that we might not have known or have heard previously.
Hiding information and opinions from others posted by others is limiting our growth.
Period.
I am not so sensitive that I am unable to "weed" through the comments that are posted by those with opinions that differ with mine. I don't need someone to do it for me.
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
Upsetting?
I mean really, I can understand why the other mormon post was pulled. This isn't a place for Mormon Conspiracy mongering. This is NOT a completely open forum.
THIS post however looks like it has valuable Ron Paul related information, specifically, him being endorsed by a Mormon.
If the post gets flagged and pulled, it's up to Michael's discretion whether it comes back or not. It just goes into a queue for review.
-James
Question...
Who decides what is mongering?
It is completely open, anyone can log onto the site, anyone can post, and anyone can now FLAG a comment....
What?
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
No, it is not completely open.
Think of this as an extension of Michael Nystrom's house.
He has opened the door, set out some food for everyone, set up some chairs and lets people talk here, but he decides what is mongering and what isn't. It's again, just a respect issue. Mormon Conspiracy theories belong on a board for Mormon Conspiracists. Not on a board solely run for the promotion of Ron Paul as President in 08.
From the terms page:
Any of the following will be sure to get you banned without warning:
Engaging in flame wars or personal attacks on other members, racist remarks, posting material completely unrelated to the campaign or the presidential race, bumping your own thread to keep it on the front page, posting the same non-related comment on multiple threads to promote your website or event, blatant advertising. If you cannot consistently spell or check your grammar, you may also be banned. Sorry. Posting here is a privilege, not a right.
In the end, anything I decide that reflects poorly on Dr. Paul and/or sullies the good and peaceful name of Ron Paul supporters is not welcome here. At the end of the day, this is my house. I set it up to honor, respect and promote Ron Paul's bid for the Presidency. Play fair and you're welcome to stay. Do not abuse what is offered.
Again, this is all at his discretion. He MAY look at the flagged post and then say, "Eh, not so bad." and put it right back up. While I think he should look into the number of flags required for review, as well as that other people should hit flag exceedingly sparingly, he asks for reasons each time an item is flagged. If someone continually flags for no reason, that person will just have the flag ability removed.

I hear ya...
Just don't understand how we freedom lovers are so easily censored without question or debate.
I would have voted "no".
Sorry.
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
Did that other bite the dust?
There was another post about some "beware the Mormon conspiracy to elect a President" thing.
This post is about a genuine supporter of Ron Paul who says so in public discourse with fellow Mormons. That's not a bad word, is it...Mormon?
Yep
I was replying to the post, by the time I tried to post comment, it read "access denied"
Thread gone.
I was just going to post this same video of Joel Skousen.
Sad.
Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....
You know...
that's the real downside to this "flag as offensive" experiment. Sometimes, even though the post itself is questionable, some of the responses are quite valuable.
If it were possible, I'd like to see a category created called "flagged as offensive" but the forums would still be available...just under a category separate from Active Forums.
But anyway...it's pretty cool to see a Mormon endorsing Ron Paul. Just in case anyone didn't know this already, Mormons are regular people like everyone else with a wide range of political views, etc. It's no more or less of a freaky cult than any other religion.
That's Weird
I just replied to another Mormon post, with similar info.
I am assuming he is related to Cleon Skousen
author of "The Five Thousand Year Leap", an excellent book on the Constitution that Glenn Beck is highly enthusiastic about. (Of course, I suspect that most Mormons are related to one another in some way or another! lol)
Anyway, if he is related, then I would think that it is most certainly a good thing, conspiracy theorist or not.
