So, just introducing myself to the Daily Paul forums. My friend Mateo, who is consistently active on these forums, introduced me to this site and I thought I should join in. I'm a high school student, but not for long, I graduate in about 7 weeks and then headed to TAMU. I'm not totally sure where I am politically. As of late, it seems like my Libertarian views have taken over, so as of right now, that would probably be my "label". But overall, I care about The Constitution, our rights as citizens, and the U.S. not running itself into the ground. Please comment and ask questions! Glad to be here, and look forward to meeting all of y'all.

I'm young as well... I've been reading these forums since the campaign but recently got a username.
Word of advice: avoid labels. we are individuals, just about everyone here at the DP has different views in some way. and by a stirring of our differences we come closer to greater understanding and knowlegde. thanks for joining our deal here. liberty keeps catching on folks...

I was in the same position like you

last year.

I came from a very very progressive background (stemming from the anti-Bush era) and clueless in economic. However when I saw Ron Paul's campaign - a few major point tingled my common senses. First, what drew me in was his fascinating anti-war stances (especially when he talked about blowback and unconstitutional wars). His ferocious defense of civil liberties whether you're a minority, gay, etc and his strict protection of the Constitution. I thought that was interesting, and when I read more about Dr. Paul, I found that he was the most principled man in Congress.

You see, I was still a liberal progressive, and the mentality of us were always bias against any Republicans in general. However Ron Paul was the exception. Back then, I didn't like his stances on health care, or dismantling the welfare state, or the "laissez-faire" economics he advocated (especially about the gold standard). But since I found Ron Paul to be an interesting person of our lifetime, I decided to research on my own about Austrian Economics and more about the Federal Reserve. Over a long time (probably about 3-5 months of online research), his message, slowly but surely, finally hit me. Personal Freedom and Economic Freedoms are one. I guess the hardest part to convert the left or the right into the movement is their determination to do their own independent research.

After that, I was sold to the message of individual liberty, and over time I finally understood the workings of Dr. Paul. I'm now a university freshman and I guess you could describe me as a classical liberal :P

Welcome to the party!

If you haven't yet try this link to the World's Smallest Political quiz:

http://www.theadvocates.org/quizp/index.html

It really is VERY short - I promise.

If you do end up deciding to hang with Libertarians, and I presume TAMU is Texas A & M, send me an e-mail and I'll put you in touch with some good local folks there.

And for the debunkers out there, the Quiz is not designed to sway you to any one ideology. It is created by political scientists and they spend lots of effort trying to make the questions as general and non-leading as possible. (proof of this is in the wide variety of results tabulated over the last 30 years of using the Quiz)

Quiz Results... *drumroll*

I tried to be honest with myself, and my answers matched up with what I expected. Libertarian, haha. But thanks for the quiz, I'll share it with others, definitely.

Welcome friend...

I've only joined up and started posting a couple of months ago and I have found some very intelligent and passionate debate. You will learn alot, get a little angry from time to time, but in the end will be better for it. Nice to see some young blood wanting to work for the cause of liberty. Peace...

I don't consider myself a party. I just want to be left alone to earn a living the best way I know how. I do not want to take money from anyone else either. If I didn't earn it I don't want it. Also I don't want anyones grubby hands in my pockets either. If You come to my house to cause harm to my property or family expect deadly force by 7.62X51 or .223 ... So I guess I am like everyone else here ..... Glad to see You on board.

Those Nasty Labels...

I totally agree with everyone's views on the nastiness of labels for individuals. I didn't wanna come with a stereotypical views of saying I am my own person, because though I am, I do share many views with many others, haha. So I gave the libertarian "label" as what my label would be if I truly had one. But the sentence that follows that truly defines my views. Thanks! First

Do not fall for the 3 way divider the government has setup for those whom want to become politically smart. There is no libertarian. No republican. No democrat. There is the constitution and then theres others. Where do you stand? If your for the constitution then your heading in the right direction. If you want to be labeled under some party, well, good luck with that. Its US VS them. Freedom vs slavery. I consider myself a constitutional moderate. Thats as far as labels go considering.

Remember that left/right democrat/republican is a device of

control to keep the people arguing amongst themselves while the elite through our congress and puppet president of the month loot the people, start wars and grow our debt enslaving us all. Would you like a glass of water with that red pill!

Welcome!

What exactly is "Liberty", as in campaign for liberty.

Well, I think it's the individual rights written right into the U.S. Constitution, called the "Bill of Rights". Many who visit here feel the Constitution and bill of rights which every elected official takes an oath to up-hold are being slowly destroyed.
So, what can we do about it?

Welcome home

You sound too young to put a label on yourself, why put yourself in a box this early. But you said some key things about what your concerns are and I couldn't think of a better article to welcome you with. It's in pdf form and 22 pages long. I just finished reading it, couldn't stop. It is titled "Financial Panics - Political Change!!!" by Martin Armstrong. In this one he covers it all including the absence of The Rule of Law. Hope you enjoy it and pass it along. Blessings to you.

"Labels"

Yeah, I definitely agree. That's why I used the libertarian "label" carefully. I meant to say, that IF you want a label for me, that'd probably be it, but that's why I followed with the next sentence. But thanks for the support and I'll definitely get on reading that article.
