I am a machinist and work for a company called VAE Nortrak. We are the supplier of ALL major railroads, Norfolk Southern, CSX, Amtrak you name it. We have huge plants all over the world, the main base is in Austria, North American Base in Vancouver Canada. For the past 7 years I have run a huge CNC (computer numeric controlled) machine that has always run 24 7 never one time has there ever been any shortage of rails to cut. In the past month that has all changed and as I type this it sits idle with no work. Our yard is slam full of track assemblys, switch points, and everything in between that are rusting away because nobody is buying them. Because of the machine I run I survived the first round of layoffs and it looks like next time I wont be so lucky. I am wondering if anyone out there knows anything about this because management refuses to tell us anything but "its about to get rough" I am praying for all of you as I hope you will pray for me. I love this site keep up the good work.
